Leadbolt ads, how do I get rid of them - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I downloaded some apps, now when I do certain things I get redirected to my browser and treo leadbolt pages choke up. I have avg premium and it hasn't stopped it, I've tried addons detector, I can't get rid of it. What can I do? I would like to find whoever thought something that annoying was a good idea and slowly eviscerate them with a dull butter knife.

Try the AirPush Detector app from the play store - it will tell you what apps to remove to get rid of Leadbolt.
You've got to remove the applications that came with Leadbolt to make that go away - after all, you agreed to accepting the ads when you installed the applications.
Be sure to leave a very negative review for whatever application came bundled with Leadbolt.

Tried it, it didn't work

Are you rooted? Currently I use AdFree.

No I'm not. Been I'm contact with add on detector and they say they haven't seen this before. I get redirected to a webpage when I download an app

need help for adfree

hi all
have installed addfree for android
but dont help me
have adds
can someone tell me, what i have to do, for a adfree evo?
thy
Try rebooting and taking a look at your /system/etc/hosts file, you should be able to see if adfree has modified it or not. Some apps have started getting ads from their own servers so there's no easy way to block them
Just hit download and install hosts. Installing it doesn't do anything, you have to refresh the hosts.

Maybe adaway would work better for you? Free in the market.

Companies are getting smarter and thus ads are getting harder to block. The new Pandora app is swear gets its ads from Pandora servers. Oh well.

I've gotten random win a ipad notifications here and have checked using the airpush detector app which results in zero apps I have using it evidently. They don't happen every day either but maybe once a week or longer they do....

I had one pop up last week. First one I've ever seen. Hadn't seen it since. I have lookout installed and do not have or never had any bootleg apps. I don't get it. Those apps need to be pulled and gone.

I have adds in apps
I've had an issue keeping ads away as well. I do think the deevelopers are getting a bit smarter about how they serve the ads.
Here is an old thread on the subject
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=664532
It hasn't been updated in quite some time but it might help.
im just absolutely lost how/what is causing the notification popup add that i get which is for "win an ipad2..."
Itll randomly happen and not with a program up and running less its in the background. Its not a txt msg one but actual notification that sends me to a website. I scaned with lookout and all is fine. Also read up on the notification adds and thought it might be the airpush crap but the airpush defender app didn't find any apps using it when i installed it so im at a complete loss now as to why this is happening.

I've never seen the ad you're talking about but I wonder if Sprint is sending it to you. I used to get a bunch of text ads from Sprint until I called them up and told them not to send me anything anymore. You might just be able to call them and have them stop it.
You can never really tell what apps to trust and what not to, I guess.
Take Dolphin for instance, love the browser, but take a look at this.

Not directly "ad" related, but you get what I'm saying.

Is GetJar Safe?

I used GetJar to download some free popular apps. I was bored using SQLite one day and went into GetJar. I did not like all info it seemed to be storing about my usage patterns. Ie, how often i open each app and when.
Anybody know about GetJar?
Right when that "Market" came out I used it and downloaded a few things shortly after I started getting the AirPush adds in my notif bar. I uninstalled the apps and the GetJar Market and haven't used it since.
You could disable its reporting in autostarts
Sent from my Atrix 4G
Or droidwall. Some kind of firewall app
Sent from my Atrix 4G
I use autostart sparingly but another reason I ask is because after installing Tapatalk from GetJar, all my phones notification sounds were changed to random 15 second sections of random songs in my library. I was at work, my phone rang, and all of a sudden Hatebreed was screaming through my speaker haha. Basically I uninstalled the market too.
Weird, I use it with no issues what so ever. I only use it to get the free versions of known apps like Tapatalk though. No adds in my notification bar.
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
I used it, but disabled it starting up when the phone started, never got any ads, however I would still find it starting up intermittently, so I uninstalled, I would install again if I found an app I like on there and uninstall after i need it
It's a battery hog. That I can say. I second thewarhawk's recommendation. Install if needed, uninstall afterwards.
+ 1 on no ads & battery hog. I always freeze it after I checked / downloaded something.
Never had a problem till trying to download a ROM and it tried to re-download itself while I was downloading the new darkside. It was uninstalled at time but the apk was still on sd card WTF.
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
I've noticed this app doing some questionable things. So I use it to download apps and then freeze it. When I wanna use it again I just unfreeze it.

weird, i've had getjar installed for months now and i haven't experienced a single thing anyone here has reported.
downloaded a few apps from it, but nothing major. Illusia, Swifkey X, a few other random games.

Me either, I haven't got any problem with getjar.
But the problem is they do not support update when downloaded apps are updated.
Even its weekly free apps are old versions..
Is it illegal market like a black market?
If it is, then I should stop using it..
But still no problem with it, yet.

Yeah. That's cause its a free app. The apps are tagged so that market knows it wasn't actually paid for.

Notfications bar ads

I keep getting ads about free iphone 4 or ipad, any ideas how to get rid of it.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda premium
i'm going to guess its a rouge app. some developers are putting ads into apps now. i believe its called air push that they use, and yes it can be quite intrusive. look up airpush detector in the market and see if that helps
Downloaded it still getting them
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda premium
You've downloaded an app that's causing it. Look at your running apps and that may help pinpoint what's causing it. You can try rebooting and then immediately checking what auto-starts - typically apps that display ads like that will auto-start.
You can download System Tuner free from the Market and open it up and go to Apps > Startups (at the top) and see what's being launched upon startup in there. Be safe and double check anything you disable and a backup never hurts...
It is "mp3 ringtone downloader".

You have to run AirPush Detector while the ad is open. It will let you know where it is coming from. Seems like 99% of the time, people are downloading that stupid "MP3 Music Download" (Its LOADED with fake reviews).
most people get it from some MP3 downloader app. do you have something like that?
I am getting them as well, and I don't have a MP3 music downloader on my phone. I don't want these ads, and I think it's bad that a warning is not given before we download an app that use this bloatware.
Ironically, bloat freezer causes this.

The first thing my bro did with his phone is get mp3 app
AirPush Detector (free in the market might help you but it didn't help me). I found Addons Detector to help me. Install from market (free) then Click on "Addons" then find "push notifications" in the filter list then click on "submit". Hoefully it'll find your problem.
Good luck - hope this helps. That notification bar spam was maddening.
i found one from the ICS theme for golauncher. after i deleted the theme the ads went away.

[Q] Any idea how to fix this?

My boss has a Rezound with the exact same ROM/kernel etc. that I have listed in my sig (because I set it up for him).
He has had a weird problem that he wants me to fix but I'm not sure what's causing it. Everyday lately, he has had a notification in the left side of the upper task bar that is just a + sign.
If you pull down the notifications it has a link to a porno site, but it doesn't go to his gmail and you can just clear it with no problem.
He says he has never gone to a site like that on his phone because "why bother, the screen it too small anyway" and that he has a both a 17.5" laptop and a 27" desktop monitor that are much better suited to that kind of thing.
I have worked on all his computers and all his phones and this problem ONLY happens on his phone. Does anybody know how to block whatever is doing this??
That has to be an app running in the background.

there is also an airpush blocker in the market (excuse me, Play Store), air block, I think, that will stop those.

Yes I get those too, rather annoying. I hope its just the site and not some app or virus.
I just got one
This happens to me every now and again, and its happened on XDA more than once.
I took a screenshot just now when it happened.
It only pops up in the browser so I assume it is most likely an ad, but it is also aware of my location.
It goes here:
gotfreebies . org/contest/au-ipad-contest/index.php?c=AU-s2
(I'm not allowed to post links so I added spaces)
It's seriously annoying and I sincerely hope something can be done about it.
I'm using a Galaxy tab 8.9 over wifi.
XDA has gotten a lot of ads lately. I hate the flash ads that play at the bottom of the screen with sound. I tend to have a few XDA tabs open and its super annoying trying to find the one thats playing.
Banner ads and flash ads don't bother me that much but these freebie.org ads just fill the entire screen on my phone. Now that is seriously annoying
had same issue. restart solved it for me.

Getting the same ads very annyoing like a pc browser hijacker redirects browser to their site get it mainly on xda but have had it 1 or 2 times on other sites.
Would be nice to know whether this Is an XDA ad or a virus.
I also get it, only on xda. I use ICS+ Browser. Very annoying.
The flash ads with sound on my desktop are extremely annoying as well. I too open multiple windows at once, and it is a real pain trying to find the noisy window.
It is an ad. It is harmless.

Is it an official xda ad? Why do they make it behave just like malware? That's what browser hijackers do. I've never seen official ads do anything as obtrusive as that.
I am getting tired of these ads, there is another similar or maybe associated ad for a site called 'mobrewards.org' too.
I get them on other phone related sites as well, just now I got one on phonearena.
I have found the google adwords complaint page and I'm going to submit a complaint.
Maybe if we all do then they'll do something about it.

The ad seems to be a browser popup, it is not associated with any apps.
It is targeted towards mobile users and it seems to only occur when using a mobile device.
If you search online for gotfreebies.org or mobrewards.org you will see that the problem is experienced by Android and iPhone users.
these ads are the ones which remind me to enable ad blocking after flashing a new firmware. adaway and root are your friends
