Is there a one click root for the Evo 3d?
Sent from my Xoom using xda premium
Nope sorry. But it shouldnt take more than 10 minutes to root this. If its hboot 1.4 of course. I haven't tried the HTC method so I can't say much about that.
Took less than 10 mins for HTC unlock/root method...
That includes flashing a ROM/kernel and a theme... One click will not happen

Revolutionary is basically one click. Connect phone, enter beta key, run root, done.

Hello
I made on your phone with hboot 1.49.00018 downgrade through HTCdev
I then made through the revolutionary S-OFF
I then recorded the RUU and choose FastBoot oem writesecureflag 3 gave the phone to the state S-ON
but on my screen instead LOCKED light RELOCKED
how to achieve it again to be on display LOCKED??
Not possible to change this again. Wrong section by the way...

IF U Unlock it. then relock it.it will change to Relocked....no way to get it to Locked @NOW
I may have a way if your prepared to try it as something strange happened to mine using HTC supertool

Don't know if it'll work across carriers, but I used revolutionary for s-off and bootloader unlock then renamed and flashed a zip from one of these threads. Bootloader changed back to locked, didn't say relocked.

That's because you used rev to s off

In theory, could he use rev, to unlock again then relock via pb**img.zip? (Cant remember) to get the bootloader back to locked?

I agree..
But anyway, back on topic.
The phone came LOCKED.
once you Unlock it, you can only RELOCK it.
There's no way to completely lock it again unless you use a goofy method or you send it back to HTC for a complete flash.
I would love to know what that goofy method is so my insurance claims don't get denied.

Insurance can't get denied because of it. However, warranty can be denied but the chances of Sprint actually checking on this are very slim.
Basically, send it to Sprint for warranty if it isn't an actual insurance claim.

I haven't heard of anyone fixing that part yet.. Just a line of text maybe some code that would need to be screwed with but noone has fixed it yet.

what he said. you're not going to have any problems by having s off. by putting s on, all you are going to end up doing is shooting yourself in the foot if you want to change it later
I apriciate your advices. But would like to know how to do it, if i ever need to do it. Also i can always s-off later back right? I'm new to Evo 3D so want to know my options...

ill trade you and s-on fone
I am pretty sure if you s-on and you upgrade to the hboot 1.5 you are screwed. I have 1.5 and there is no way for me to get s-off. I would just stay s-off dude. you are going to screw yourself.
If your phone shipped s-off then you shouldn't have any problems, even if you have to take your phone into Sprint for repair.
If you're on 1.50 there's no way to get S-OFF at this time. But if you REALLY wanted to I guess you could just flash the current RUU to revert to S-ON.
My phone was shiped s-off. Thought it was strange, but if there is now problem about it then i'll leave it like it was...

Is the root process the same for the VM Evo3d with ICS the same as Sprint with.GB
Sent from my HTCEVOV4G using Tapatalk 2

Yup

Ok I need a walkthrough if anybody knows a link that would be awesome. when I rooted my sprint Evo3d I used revolutionary but the VM Evo has hboot 1.57 so I'm not sure which way to go. And I don't want to brick this one. No Black Tie insurance.

So I've gotta ask and take it easy on me if this is a stupid question. But do only certain roms work with s-on. I'm asking because every Rom above 4.1.1 has never gotten past the boot screen on my EVO. So is this question legitimate?
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
From what i read yes, but same with s-off depending on what version you're on.. S-off is the way to go, i was having mad issues flashing with s-on and always ended up in a boot loop, did s-off yesterday and have tried three different roms successfully... Totally cool.. Try the s-off using dirtyracun and if you have issues, they will help you out in their irc chanel... Bigdaddy explained it best to me... Him and captain throwback ate good to go if you need help...

Some Roms will require you to flash the kernels first via fastboot or the flash image gui app. Pain in the ass if you ask me. Just go S-off..

Thanks guys....in some cases I've said I'm lucky to have all mac in my house but I feel unlucky with this s-off process. No one is supporting mac, and while I know terminal really well I don't wanna brick a phone I got 3 days ago

S off and it will save you time and stress while flashing roms. Just come to the dark side

You can create an ubuntu live cd to boot from and use that to s-off...or does that not work on a mac?

Hadn't seen it until you posted it. Its interesting, i don't support the service but it really shows that we can achieve S-OFF, which is awesome.

They probably achieved s-off via jtag.. so it will be a while before devs achieve s-off. Not saying they can't do it.
Sent from my HTC Fireball using xda premium
wow interesting!
What exactly is jtag? I'm not a noob but I'm definitely not a dev... I also noticed the bootloader still said locked so I'm assuming they didn't have to use HTC dev first like my EVO LTE(just left sprint for T-Mobile). I'd like to keep from having to register my phone with HTC dev in case of warranty issues

Jtag is a service that can flash motherboards, they can unbrick them, root them, s-off, ect. Its only because they have the files from HTC them selves to do it. I have talked to them before in my HTC inspire 4g days.... Ide love to have an evo, 2nd best phone on the market

Ahh I see, makes sense... Too bad they won't release that to the public... I'll be selling my EVO LTE and nexus s 4g as soon as I clear my sprint account... I would have kept it if sprints data wasn't so horrible...
