[Q] Using different keyboard in Calkulin+Clemsyn Froyo version 8 - G Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to use a different keyboard in Calkulin+Clemsyn Froyo version 8?
Only stock TNT keyboard will work for me.
It shows an android keyboard, but won't let me use it.
I also tried installing Smart Keyboard Pro using the method described in the "Adding alternative keyboards" in this forum, no luck.
Any help would be appreciated.
thanks

Thank you brettdwagner , that allowed me to enable the installed Smart Keyboard Pro.
Then I used System App Remover to remove com.inputmethod.tapntap.apk and LatinIME.apk which removed/disabled the android and tnt keyboards.
(Yes, I backed them up first)
Now Smart Keyboard Pro is my only keyboard installed and it works great.
Thanks again for your help brettdwagner.

[Q] How to: Original keyboard layout

Just installed custom ROM and would like to have the "sym" key enabled again so that it offer smilies when you press the key as it's set up on the stock rom.
Anyone knows how to do that?
Thanks
what rom do you have ? Anyway, disable IME keyboard or android keyboard in settings/Keyboard and languages, reboot and it should work.
I use the [ROM]MiniCM7 Pro - V6 Final (GingerBread 2.3.5) - Camera 5MPX. But anyway I tried what you suggested and it worked. Thanks for the quick solution !

[Q] Gintonic V2.1 and HW keyboard

Hi all,
I'm a new French noob who did install the latest Gintonic + zombie panic kernel.
With the version 1.6 I was able to change the Keyboard to AZERTY.
With the latest I have a problem :
I can change the HW keyboard layout with rom manager or keyboard switcher (from slade), the keyboard config file is correctly set but each time I press A I have a Q.
I did switch from querty to azerty several times but still same problem.
Please note that I've installed the zombie kernel after having installed the ROM.
Many thnaks in advance for your answers,
AndromacK.
Hi french mate
i got the problem too, it's caused by the Android Keyboard, remove it with titanium backup or just disable it in keyboard settings, then you can change the hw keyboard with rom manager
if i helped you give thumbs up !
I'll try later and let you know,
Merci beaucoup
Perfect, it works.
Thanks again.
You're welc
The problem is that when you turn on another keyboard than the default one, the default one is turned off, so you cannot get accents and symbols, and sometimes you have QWERTY instead of AZERTY for example

Hardware keyboard not working in CM 9.1

Hello everyone
A couple of days ago, I installed CM 9.1 on my rooted Xperia mini pro. So far so good, except that the hardware/slide-out keyboard isn't working properly. I have a danish layout (QWERTY with special letters Æ, Ø, Å), and the special letters doesn't work. Neither does the blue key, nor the "sym" key or the shift/caps-lock key. I tried to install a minor fix via a zip-file in the recovery-boot, but it seems like i just made it worse. Anyone who knows a solution to this?
Regards
Christian
PS. Has anyone tried to install the CM 10 on the xperia mini pro?
Bump
How did you change the keyboard layout. There should be an option in the settings. :good:
Sym key isn't working in non stock based roms

The link you gave me did unfortunately not work - the keyboard-layout just sticks the same...
The fix i tried before, was to install the layout form a Xperia Pro, by which it seems to have done things worse.

AOSP keyboard

I've tried loading the apk on the phone through adb, but it crashes. I'm guessing there is more to it than having root?
... Gboard?
I'm familiar with gboard and use it. Found a solution using aosp keyboard. There is a current enhanced version here on the forum.
