Since other phones are 8MP like ours, that also have 1080p recording, would it be possible to like modify some system settings to allow the MoPho to record in 1080p? that would be great!
People are working on it, also they are working on getting real 1080p from the Atrix.
Modifying a build.prop will give 1080p size but not quality.
Pulling the 1080p camera app from the Atrix 4G will give 1080p size and quality.
Hope I helped you with an answer!

I believe that is why Motorola put "HD Video" instead of "720p HD," they may be also planning to upgrade us to 1080p, (again I said maybe). By the way, for Atrix 1080p video app, you cannot just install the apk, you will need to be rooted, and flash a .zip file on CWM.

Yes, most definitely.
This is funny, why Photon with 8mp camera has no 1080p video recording but Atrix only have 5mp has...LOL
picture quality is very poor , and don't have timer shoot option
Its more than just an apk, there are framework files to consider and script settings. Ill give someone an idea to try.
Download atrix rom with working 1080p
Pull the camera and framework
Pull the build.prop find the line for 1080p and add it to yours.
Add camera apk/framework to yours and set permissions
Reboot and post results

Actually, I believe you are correct.
By the way, your signiture on your Photon, says "Sent from my B855" Unless you wanted it to say that, the model number is MB855. If you want to change it, just go into menu and signature settings in the XDA or Talpatalk App.
If you goofed up, don't worry, I did the same thing with my normal signature, and my good pal xTMFxOffshore helped me out. We all make mistakes.
If you wanted it that way, sorry to bother you about it.
Stock camera is good but I agree that 1080p with 30fps (perhaps more) and hight bitrate video record is necessary. And (not so necessary) more camera's options and functions for example touch focus, video focus, negative exposure, white balance and etc. (something an average between Lg o2x mod-camera and MIUI camera).
I accidentally hit backspace in the wrong part of the post

Good method but I think it is better that in case you change your mind later.. just rename the sound file.
That and the camcorder sound can be renamed to so no one knows when ur playing spy while recording that girl you like LOL..
it's possible to go into the framework (i believe) and just change the value of shutter sound from a 0 to a 1. reboot the phone and you will have the option in the camera menu to turn the shutter sound off and on. much better way. you will have to remember to set it back to 0 though before trying to take any update from motorola.
No root required to shut off sound. Google Enforced stream silencer.

i used to use that but i like having the option. my kid likes the shutter sound when i take a picture of him. when he's sleeping i turn the shutter sound off so he doesn't wake up.
i was also having reboot problems with my first photon and if i had that enforcer program the start up "noise" wouldn't happen so i would know if my phone was starting to freak out.

Ever wanted to know who has tried snooping into your phone while you were away. Your friends or family member might have tried to unlock your phone while you are away. HiddenEye is a simple app with no frills that will photograph the person when they try to unlock your phone. You can set it to sound alarm when a user tries to unlock your phone without your knowledge.
Now you can see who is trying to use your phone while you are away. Once you unlock your phone, you will be shown the photographs of the people who tried unlocking your phone in your absence. Sounds interesting ! Try it and let us know if you have any suggestion to improve it further.
Worried that your phone does not have front camera. With HiddenEye, now you can know the someone has tried to snoop into your phone. You can also set alarm if someone is trying to unlock your phone with wrong password. If you have a front camera, then you can see who tried unlocking your phone.

If im not mistake you would either have to be running a custom rom with screen shot option in the extended power menu or just download an app. There are plenty of them for rooted and non rooted users
Sent from my XT897 using Tapatalk 2
hold down the power button, if its a custom rom, it shud most probably be there. otherwise find Power Menu settings and then activate Screenshot
Get screen grabber from the play store. No root required. Be sure to change the settings for root in the app before trying if you don't have root.

I've never figured out how to do the Motorola Screen shot on this device without the volume rocker showing up in the pic. I have an old free app called Shoot Me that isn't available anymore. It takes great shots and also does continuous screen casts. There is a color fix setting that needs to be selected for it to work properly on this device. Requires root. If anyone wants a copy, just PM me with your email address and I'll send it to you.

On the Photon Q you should be able to take a screen shot by pressing the power, and volume down button at EXACTLY the same time.

If you're original 4G MoPho then slap a CM7 ROM on that bad boy and set her loose! Screenshot via power button. Then, backup, and flash a Jellybean ROM! Recover back and forth depending on what you need. Play movies via HDMI to your TV? Th3bill's JB ROMs do it naturally. Need Netflix? Recover back to GB, CM7. Never use any third party app on the MoPho. Just get what you need, and flash via custom recovery. I use Th3bill's CWM recovery, I'm old school, but I LOVE TWRP. My Photon is the only device of 4 not to run TWRP. Flashing is fun, easy, and oh so rewarding. Have some joy in your device!
you can find application like screen graber or screen capture ect.. on play store

Well the XPOSED settings is baked in, or it used to be, so you could use that module.

I didn't see Xposed in the ROM but I installed it and the framework and activated the module. On beans 18....clean install. Go to exposed and I click modules and phone and click call record. Then when on a call I hit the menu button and an option comes up to record. It saves it in a sound file at the end and im done. Dont do anything else....no apps or flashing apks ..... guess its baked into beans and you just have to have that box checked. I dont touch other roms too much. Beans runs the best for my phone so I stick with it. Hopefully I gave you an idea.

YouTube was working just fine for me since I got the phone so I'm inclined to think that this is due to the recent update. When I try to play videos in 1080, they're zoomed in and moved to the right... Like for example, I was watching pocketnow daily, and all I could see when I switched to 1080 is Jaime Rivera's right hand lol and it was big haha
Any ideas?
Oh I got the Chinese version BTW.
I have no such problem. Maybe reinstall the app?
Yup
Same problem
Unfortunately, the only way to get it to work is to leave the quality at 480. Hope somebody find a fix.
This just started happening like 2 days or so. Must be the update. I tried uninstalling YouTube and it's still broken. Also, even when it was working, video quality on 1080 wasn't much better than 480.
Please let me know if anyone finds a fix. This is really annoying.

That's the solution.
But I don't understand why...I mean, video enhancement is just to give more saturated colours to the video
