[Q] "Days" app? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everyone, I hope I'm posting this in the right place. This is my first post, so please be gentle.
Anyway, I was looking through my phone and ran across a "Days" icon under "All" in the "Manage Applications" settings. As you can see, it says 0.00B so I'm assuming it's not doing anything, but when I go inside I notice there's a whole lot of permissions this has. I'm wondering if anybody here knows what it is. I've enclosed a screenshot just in case.
Thanks in advance for taking the time in reading and (possibly) answering my question.

Days is the Days widget for your homescreen. Probably some files are missing. If you want to reinstall, download from this link and install.

Thanks for the quick response.
I'm assuming this is a Samsung stock widget then. I don't have any recollection of ever using it or what it does. It doesn't show up in my Widget list, I'm assuming it's part of their Calendar/Agenda deal.
Thanks again!

Arrgghhh! Why do some Apps keep rearranging themselves in the grid view?

Hi guys.
Something I've noticed happening every now and again, is some Apps moving from one page to another, without my input, and leaving blank spaces in the app grid view. It's been driving me nuts for ages! Has anyone else noticed this, and is there any particular reason?
Cheers
Yeah, I just started a thread on this and worked it out. Go to Settings> Applications>Running Services then click the "All" tab. Scroll down to TwLauncher and clear the data. This will reset your icons, so make a note what you have and where, and once it's setup, it should be good. Worked for me.
Also, does this happen when you either clear memory our reboot phone? If so this should do it. Let us know how you went.

Titanium Backup missing Batch command

I have a new Galaxy Note running ICS, successfully rooted and with Titanium Backup installed.
TB opens fine and appears to be in order, but I have no "Batch" command. I've read support pages and watched YouTube videos; the option simply isn't in the menu as it should be. Can anyone offer any suggestions, please?
Click on backup/restore and then press the menu button where by it will show you the batch option for backup and restore.

Thanks, but I'm afraid no, it doesn't! The backup/restore menu offers me:
Help & Support
Market capital's
Preferences
Overview of app storage use
Clean up the Dalvik cache
Integrate sys Dalvik into ROM
Undo sys Dalvik integration
Sends data
Import backup
Extract from nandroid backup
Create "update.zip"
Manage Android ID
Refresh app list
Reload application
and
Reboots the device
but not "batch" :crying:
Its the ICON on the top with a rectangle and an arrow symbol on it. Just before the ICS context menu.
The icon on the top of what?!
I'm attaching three screenshots, one showing the backup/Restore screen, the other two showing its menu.
^ In the first pic, it's the 'tick' icon, right next to the search icon.

In your first screenshot, top right you've got the search icon, the one just to the right of that with the tick is the one you want
Edit: waaay to slow should have refreshed before replying...

Star! Thank you VERY much. Problem solved, with gratitude @
Two separate tutorials that I watched on YouTube must've been older versions as their menus looked totally different, plus everything I've read and watched indicated that Batch was part of the menu, which of course is actually isn't! I also managed to discover myself, luckily, that I don't have a "Run the batch operation" command either, just a tiny gren tick!
Cheers again
I've had the same problem!
I think it's a case of not seeing the woods for the trees.

man this was frustrating me sooo much! As always XDA has all the answers
I found the answer here too .... I really can't imagine anyone figuring this out without googling for the answer
Yea I dont know when the app was updated but I was going crazy looking for the batch option as well. I don't think I ever would have figured this out on my own. Thanks to search!!!!

I had this problem, someone should do an updated tutorial.
I'm also glad to be forewarned of the other missing menu item.
I also googled and ended up here on how to back up.
Why did they remove the batch option in the menu?

Me too! It seems crazy to make such a drastic change to the UI and not make sure ALL users (even us non-changelog-readers) will find out about it.
Thanks
Guys, thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
I made my user account just to pay you all some props .....
hey thanks! i will try this!
I never expected this thread to still be going! I'm very pleased to have been able to bring this issue to people's attention, and that we're able to let more people know about it.

Folder icons not staying put.....

Created a few folders with Direct Call or Direct Message contacts. Then moved them into the order I wanted. They keep re-arranging back to the way they were added. My GNex never did this. Damn you TouchWIZ !
Seriously anyone else experiencing this ?
thanks

I actually just noticed this yesterday.
I have a folder with Navigation, Maps, and then a bunch of quick navigation shortcuts, and I just noticed yesterday that the icons for Navigation and Maps had transposed themselves. I figured I must have done it myself. But now that you brought it up, I looked again, and it seems that many of my other folders have rearranged themselves.
I'm going to have to keep a close eye on this. I'm very intrigued.
I just noticed that it happened again

Missing Ringer Toggle Icon After Deblur

Hi. I recently deblurred my phone using Lokifish's deblur script. It worked great and I'm loving it. Only one problem. After an hour or two of use, I notice that the icon for the ringer toggle disappears (only the on icon, the silent icon remains). The toggle works fine, but I'd like to not have a missing icon.
The first time this happened I thought it was my fault, because I removed all the icon png files that were showing up in my library. However, after restoring a nandroid backup, the icon disappeared again over time. I even tried restoring a stock backup (nandroid backup of stock photon after 2.3.5 OTA update) and going through the whole process of running the script again. Same result.
During the first hour or two of use after deblur, I'm generally going back and installing all my apps again, adding widgets, getting settings back the way I like them, and so fourth. So, I think it has something to do with one or more of these tasks.
I'm just wondering if Lokifish can help me in getting the icon back. I'm posting here, because I'm too new to post a reply in the deblur thread since it's in the developer forum. Please let me know. Thanks.
You are never too new to reply or ask on the thread of the developed thing you have problem with. You should only avoid posting new threads on the developer section, unless you developed or found something and want to share it.
About your problem: Sorry, I'm not an expert yet, and I have no idea.

Thanks, I appreciate your reply. Unfortunately, when I try to post a reply to a thread in the developer forum, I get the following error:
p0wder2, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
The reason below that line that I think most applies to myself is the following:
New members (those with fewer than 10 posts) are not permitted to post to development-related forums.
This is why I have made the determination that I am "too new" to post. If this is inaccurate, please let me know, as I would love to be able to post a reply in the Deblur thread regarding the issue I experienced.
Thanks again.
I'm facing the same issue related to toggle icon. Finally I've to factory reset twice to get my icon back... lol

Sorry, my mistake. It's normal that you're unable to reply on the developer forus, just as you said. You can try to do what matrix says, factory reset twice. Then try to restore data using advanced restore within recovery mode.

Thanks, but I actually have a nandroid backup of the "deblurred" stock ROM. When restoring from that backup, the icon is there for a while and then it isn't. I also reverted to the stock 2.3.5 ROM, without the deblur, and when I went through the whole process again, the same thing happened. Icon is there for a while, then it isn't. I need a way of getting it back without any resets or restoring from backups. If not, I can live without it
Thanks again though. I appreciate the suggestions, they are just ones I've already tried.
I'm able to reply on the script's thread, so I posted for you.
It's right here
I'm sorry for writing "he or she", I just don't know you.
Anyway, I am a male.
Good day!
Cool!

Awesome, thank you so much!
You're most welcome!
Even if you reinstall it, you won't get your icon back... this is something related to application and memory problem... when I restored my backup, same issue again... didn't find any solution except installing lesser apps...
In my case some go application is causing a problem...

Interesting. Well, I figured it had to do with adding apps since that's the first thing I do after the deblur process is completed. However, I'm thinking there may be a way of forcing ADW to reload it, but I'm not nearly familiar enough with linux (or the ADW launcher for that matter) to figure that out on my own.
Oh well, as I said before, I can live without it if needs be. I'd rather have all the apps that are currently installed than the ringer icon. Thanks for confirming my suspicions, though.

Do Stock Kindle Apps work on other devices? Answer: No.

Hi folks,
i just googled my ass off, thinking someone must have had the same idea that I just came up with. Unfortunately to no avail.
Is it possible to run some of the stock kindle apps on other devices?
The reason I'm askin is that I just saw my dad usin his KFHD7 calendar application and I liked it better than any other calendar app I've seen for Android.
Could anyone provide me with an apk? Does the kindle even use APKs for its stock apps? My father is unfortunately not a root-guy, so I cannot get the files from him. I'd really like to try it on my Asus tablet and on my HTC One X which both have similar display resolutions.
Thank you very much in advance guys, really appreciate your efforts.:good:
EDIT, see below: Answer is No. Apps do FC instantly. Please close topic

Don't know but I've zipped up a few (Calendar & Email) if you want to test them, not sure if they rely on other resources or APKs?

@persano: I'm afraid I don't really get what you're trying to bring across - are you saying you backuped your kindle-apks and could provide me with the calendar? I'm not sure...
No offence intended - might be a langauge thing...
edit: @Gilly10: Thanks, I'll try them out right away!! :good:
edit2: Jeeeezz, seems as if my provider is slowing down media fire on purpose. couldn't even load the webpage on my pc. had to use my phone to get there. now the download of 10ish mb is taking ages. i hate it. 81% and pending /rant
OK. The file finally arrived.
The good thing is: My question's answered now.
The bad thing is: The answer is 'no'.
App FCs instantly, no matter if it's installed by tapping it or if it's put into /system/app with appropriate permissions.
Tried it on an HTC OneX with a custom Jelly Bean Mod. Could install it, couldn't start it.
Tried it on an Asus Transformer TF101 with Stock ICS. Couldn't install it at all (package name already in use).
Thank you for your quick help guys!
