Hey there, I've to give this awesome phone to my father, who needs one, so I can take a newer one.
The thing he cares most is battery life, so, which ROM do you suggest me to install?
So far I think I'm getting the best with openOptimus, but I'd like to hear your opinion. Maybe the new void #forever?
LOLv1.4 gives me d best battery life with a drain of only 3-4% over night for around 8-9 hrs with data off n in 2g mode..!!
I heard that the stock LG Gingerbread has wicked battery life.

It all depends on the usage. I can suggest you 4 options for the follwoing usage pattern:
Moderate number of calls, lot of texting, couple of hours of music, couple of hrs of brwosing over mobile data/1 hr of browsing over Wifi, display brightness set to 40%, all sync and background apps turned off except when internet is ON and a lot of monkeying around with the phone like changing wallpapers, ringtones, etc.
The above said tasks are what I do on an average day and the battery lasts about 30 hrs. this is a smartphone BTW
Option 1: Void forever with franco's kernel (I would recommend v17) -> looks plain dull and you need to flash a lot of apps if you need them.
Option 2: Andy's ROM with andy's kernel (with franco's kernel, I faced some battery drain, though it was not too much) -> best ROM IMHO. Very good UI, Very colorful and smooth.
Option 3: Mik's ROM with franco's kernel (again v17) -> not very visually pleasing. But almost same as Andy's performance wise.
If you are looking for a froyo ROM, I've tried only openOptimus and it has a battery life as same as the other 3.
But again, it depends on the usage

Option 3 is definitely much stable and performs awesomely compared to other options!!
Options 2 is good only in terms of visual but i feel its not stable!!

Andy's ROM was pretty stable for me at 729/480 OC. I got kernel panic at 748/480 OC but 729 is stable. I personally feel Andy's ROM as more smoother than Mik's as I'm able to use live wallpapers without feeling sluggishness anywhere in the phone, which I couldn't get in Mik's. But opinion differs. All are excellent ROMs at the end of the day

Guess he's working on a totally new ROM, not based on CM7 but on CodeAurora. Let's wait and watch.
Ive been wanting to giveAndy's GB 2.3.4-rc4.1 a try for a minute, but have not been able to find the rom section dedicated to that rom...Ive used everything from Devoid Froyo Final to Megatron V1 to Mik_os's CM7 rom, but have not tried out Andy's GB 2.3.4-rc4.1 rom, can anyone point me in that direction for his rom ?
I've been using mik's CM7. but i reverted to offcial gb because cm7 lacks the night mode feature in camera. (it helps to capture better quality pic at low light situations)

Andy has discontinued his rom. He is now working on a CAF based build.
I haven't tested any of the 2.3.x ROMs but I tested most of the Froyo ones, and definitely for 2.2.x I got the best battery life with LOL 1.4.2
It's Devoid Froyo Final ...

If you have the new baseband, data is not going to work on Andy's ROM.
[EDIT]: GSM also won't work, unless you flash the baseband fix from Mik.
I'm currently on 6.5.7 with zacks v3.4 kernel plus soundfx.zip/a few other scripts and battery life is great but like others have said its all in opinion and yeah openxoptimus has exceptional battery life. I'd use open if I could flash the data fix but I don't have a computer. What good is it to have openxoptimus without data.

I'd use Miks 6.5.7 plus Franco Kernel 19.4.

It's decent, that's for sure. At least on Franco's 16 august Kernel
I generally get about 40 hours of light use out of it (some phone calls, some browsing, 3G & sync on all the time, couple pics, facebook, bit of wifi, bluetooth only when in the car). I leave data on all night long, too (I noticed I sometimes get higher battery consumption with data off).
If I have 66% or more left after the first day, I don't recharge (otherwise I do recharge because I'm not sure it will last another 24h)
Everyone's got an opinion on the "Best" rom, I just wanted to see which rom the forum thinks is the most stable with everything working.
I've tried lots of them and cant decide.
Obviously, it is Wolfbreak's rom. hands down.
T.A.E.M rom is great i think its better then wolfbreak's rom

In my opinion, on the sum of parameters, now the best ROM is ThGo2, v10
MIUI is best...
I have found Oodie's CM ROM has been great
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1384147
Battery life is good as is the stability.
for further stability, any stock se 2.3.3 rom ( locked and unlocked bootlaoder)
custom:
miui- oodies light version, also i used tripndroid rom which was pretty stable as well..u can find this one in modaco
cm7- zmods 2.3.5

ohh you're damn right. for me, that is the best of the best. REALLY THE BEST.
@deckerm, if you want a recommendation from me, try ThGo2. There is a new version, the v13, but a bootmanager kernel needs to be fixed. but there's a stable version of the rom, just look at it, and you will look happy.
but for the majority of the people here in the forum, Wolfbreak's rom is the one.
but for me, hands down. ThGo2 rom. ^^
I like EWJet, its super fast and everything is working great!

Stock rom: Wolf, ThGo2 and ... ----- stable and can be fast with custom kernel
cm rom: FXP is ****ing fast, MIUI has greate UI.
For long term stability, Wolf is the rom. T.E.A.M. is good, too. Currently using prime, no problems except the ones I create. Any rom must settle some and although our phones are X10, they can react differently to the same rom. For your poll, Wolf will probably be on top.
I totally agree!! For me Wolf's Rom gives me best stability & fastest Gingerbread Rom I tried so far!!!
Only thing I regret is not having anything to flash no more :'(
Great Rom!!!!
Sent from my X10 using Wolf's Gingerbread UB
I like TEAM.
I started to have stability problems with Wolf's rom after 1.5 mo of use w/o flashing (stuck on start-up after reboot, stuck in airplane mode). I switched over to TEAM for the last 3 mo. and no stability problems and speed is good. Then again everyone's phone reacts differently due to settings & apps, so I say try one, and if it doesn't work, try another.
MIUI Prime for me the best rom I had before. Very stable, nice and long battery life (about 3-5 days with 2G only, synch off, brightness 40%).
Oodies CM7 for me. Great battery life and smooth running.
wolf's ROM does not really give the best battery life possible.... I'm still looking for a ROM that can give best battery life.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Probably not but I don't think that any Rom can make my battery last much longer!! My battery normally lasts about a day, while heavy usage!! I Also calibrated it.
If you want your battery to last for a long time, I'd suggest to buy a larger battery, that's just my opinion.

Totaly agree im a cyanogenmod guy because i like the twaeks and extras and overall i don´t like wolfs WLAN instability for me again and again WLAN rips of deactivate its selfs and so on... additional if you using ttorrent you can forget wolfs rom also MUIU Prime because WLOD.
Needles to say that Wolfbreak and Oodie did a ****ing great job on this rom´s but i don´t like how MUIU looks like Iphone or BADA. Because why did we buy an android device? because it has to look like ab Iphone? Well...
FXP 7.2 is very stable and if ya a gamer... well the quadrant score for me with 245- 1037 with governor Interactiv was over 1300
many great games run smooth for example: Dead speace for android, Thirdblade and asphalt 5 runs great lags are possible yeah but very rare
Hit thanls if i helped
Greets DM
Well, hard to beat stock on stability

you mean you play all that in your X10 right now? what a bummer my X10 can't handle that stuff, and what is that Quadrant thing? i see it all the time but what does it do?
sorry for being a total noob here lol
I'm looking for an x10 ROM that would be classed as having the best balance of battery life and speed, Wolfbreak's Gaming ROM would be the best so far???
I haven't try them all,
but between the wolf rom verson that in last mid year and the updated primeX,
my feeling primeX is more smooth
I think Wolfbreak's Gaming ROM is the best I've used so far, it balances battery life and performance well. The pRIMe X ROM had shocking battery life when I used it. The issue is that I use a lot of data, and the pRIMe X ROM didn't do well with battery life but the Gaming ROM seems to be doing way better
Ones to try: wolfbreak, T.E.A.M. Strikes back, fxp 111 cm7 (this is prob best cyanogenmod based Rom), feralab, ewjet and donut hd pretty decent too. If I forgot any then apologies. (not in order of preference just as I remembered them) best bet is try these n decide which suits ur needs best. They all stable though so should do ok woth any of them
Edit: should also point out these are my personal opinion other people may think different

Ive tried several roms and several kernel combos.Im very happy using Feras v.10.3 rom with dkv.06 kernel.....I would say its provided the best battery life out of all the roms Ive tried, and its fast and smooth.
And in case youve not thought about this :- whatever rom/kernel you choose, you are better reading each ones thread to see what problems and solutions are on offer......and that can be a couple of thousand posts
(Feras v.11 the rock has only a couple of hundred posts to read through since he launched it )
I am running on an Xperia Mini Pro and have tried just about every custom ROM available.
What is the best one for battery life?
FXP (CM 7.2 and 9.0) seem equally bad so far, usually lasting slightly less than a day with very little use. I find that my phone tends to get warm when running these ROMs.
Nero ICS and Hybro ICS seemed to give me between a day and two days.
I can get 2-3 days out of Sony's stock ICS ROM and about the same out of their stock GB rom.
Does anyone have any tips on increasing battery life? I usually run Juice Defender. Why do custom ROMs suffer from such poor battery life compared to Sony's stock ROMs?

Thanks,
Tim

Hey,
I would say for the moment stock ICS is the best your going to get. If you want to stay with ICS?
Dont use task killers or anything like that they waste more battery than they save and they mess with android native tasking. Juice defender, I dont know much about it but so I wont comment, but I would say that if you turn off wifi and BT and things when you aren't using then you shouldn't need anything to make your battery last longer. Also make sure the wifi sleep policy is set to 'always stay on' and yeah that should be about it tbh.
Cheers,
Evil

What the RC posted above here....Thanks.
Am really bored out of flashing the rom and looking for the better performance always. I hope reverting back to the original stock may be the last option for all. But am pretty much satisfied with few roms over here and thanks to the dev of those roms for making us to love x10 even though they are old
Sharing the best part of your roms might be helpful for us in selecting them, eg. battery/performance/gaming/multitasking/stable/rock-solid/..etc

Donut HD 2.2.9
Donut HD 2.2.9 with DoomKernel (medium overclocked 245-1113 ; Governor InteractiveX) is very stable/fast/battery-friendly for me. But am uncomfortable with missing the stock player, stock theme and Facebook inside Xperia.

Hi,
I'm using FeraLab v20 with ferakernel v2.7 because of long life battery (writing sms, calling, no internet connection/wi-fi) in daily use (around two days).
Last time i had tried Spikelabs Gaming v4 with Achotjan SDE Kernel, but after 7 hours without using my x10i (night) eats almost 50% of battery (tested 2 times). Maybe it's my fault, don't have any idea why.
I've just installed AOSP JB 4.2.2 and first look is very good, around 140MB of free RAM, we will look how long battery will survive.:good:
