Random Thought in regards to the Clock/Weather widget from HTC - HTC EVO 3D

Dont get me wrong I like the clock/weather widget. But am I the only one that thinks HTC went overboard on the weather Icon size ? If its cloudy or anything like that the damn icon covers up weather condition (or part of it) and covers up part of the Temp outside.

I disagree. I love the full screen animations. If u dont like them or the sounds, all u have to do is turn them off. Htc gives u a bunch of clocks and ever a seperate weqther widgwt. Dont hapte having options.

OP wasn't talking of the animations. He is talking about the weather conditions icons under the clock. When cloudy, the clouds do cover up and somewhat hide the temperature info.

I like the dock mode but the big thing that really bothers me is the capacitive buttons stay on amd are bright as hell. Shish they turned off in dock mode or atleast dimmed to the screens brightness.
Opps thought op ment dock mode my bad

[Q] Force B&W?

Is it hypothetically possible for something (a ROM, or something more simple) to force the Vibrant to run in monochrome? With absolutely no colors?
Yeah I think it would be possible. CyanogenMod has a feature to only render certain colors (or something to that effect) for potential battery savings.
Is that why you were asking? Or is there another reason you would use this?
I know there use to be a ROM that was all B&W.. It was one of the earilier versions of Loki..

I second this motion, I love the blackout theme for bionix but it would be way better to have a comepletely black and white phone with no colored icons

Battery savings would be nice, but I'm more in agreement with what streeghtrider nick said.. at times I just feel like the colors are too much and want to revert to something that is simpler (and, personally, classier).
Washed-out, or grayed, tones would be even nicer.
I did a search for "cyanogen mod render color" and some interesting/promising links showed up. I'll look into them more and post an update.. hopefully.
I was just curious, because, yeah as a theme it would be great. For media consumption (anything more than reading an e-book), not so much. There are more than a few black and white themes here. You can also download icon packs to complete the look.
But to only render in black and white, watching movies/videos wouldnt be too great. Not to mention the number of apps/games that use color cues as part of the UI.
Thankfully, with CM's implementation, these can be toggled without rebooting, with an app or widget on your homescreen. If you really want to give it a go, theres a CM beta in the development section. Keep in mind, the GPS is currently broken. So if you're like me, and use GPS all the time, you'll want to stay away.

Guys the launhcer is extremely fast no matter what version of android are you using. i tried it, it works but the screen resolution does not match atrix. Anyone experience enough to fix the resolution. here is the link for the launcher, kindly ask permission from OP first, so we can have it on atrix.

no what you saw is an option to make it 3d, this option sucks you can change that to normal view, it will appear exactly like galaxy sII, but the alignment itself is missed up. for example the drawer appears in like half the atrix screen.

fast with live wallpaper?! I think its the same with launcher pro plus
Launcherpro plus for me is pretty slow without live wallpaper... with lw its like 15fps and the app drawer is hard to scroll.

+1 for launcher pro being slow with live wallpapers... In fact, I haven't been able to find a launcher that DOESN'T lag with live wallpapers... We need someone to re-size this

finally tested it out today and i like it. runs nice, has quite a few options. would be nice for our phone.

Looks good, I paid for a different one called ripple lock which is also nice...... only problem with these is you sometimes get a double lock issue where the main lock screen pops up first they have supposedly found a fix for it in the paid versions, and also some you have to unlock to end a call which is annoying. The double lock still happened to me a few times with ripple lock even after the fix. Would be nice if some bright spark could make the image a complete replacement I.e delete the old lockscreen altogether or explain how to, sadly I'm not that bright spark though.

I can confirm that. I had weird behaviour in general with agile lock and i had to ditch it for Ripplelock which comes from the same developer until they fix those bugs.

My phone acted weird too. Good idea, bad coding...
It is because, as I said before, this is not a replacement, but an app. I dont think that is a good idea to use one app as lockscreen, because things can be weird, like phone calls or alarms.
I use Ripple lock(paid) and its great,no probs at all,is has lots of space for customization...recomend
Does any one have problem with unlock animation...after 1.2 update I cant set any animation,I try to reinstall, rebote but nothing. Any one with same problem?
I tried agile and it worked for me .. I'm using CM7 stable and not having any problem at all with the app .. I'm not getting the double lockscreen except when the phone is plugged in to the charger .. customizing the 4 shortcuts is working as well same with changing the background ..

[REQUEST] Port JsChiSurf's Power Control Notification mod to the Photon?

Having owned my EVO since November of last year, one of the mods/apps on my phone that has been with every ROM is JsChiSurf's power control notification bar. It is THE most useful and crucial apps I have on my phone. Although I know there are other 'widgets' on the market that "sort of" replicate it, JsChiSurf's mod is the only one that allows you to have access to any of the power controls you frequently need from any screen quickly and easily, whereas, with most power control widgets, you have to go back to the screen where the widgets are located.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=836721&highlight=notification+power
My Photon is arriving today and since it doesn't appear JsChiSurf made the jump to the Photon, it's the one mod that I'm going to truly miss. Because of that, I was wondering if any of you talented developers out there knows how to port this mod to the Photon? I'm willing to pay a bounty ($20, via Paypal) to anyone who can do it.

I agree. This has always been a great feature on past rooted phones. This type of mod is also included in CM7 and is better because you can change them on the fly without flashing and can have more than 6. Either way, would be nice to have.

Brother (or sister if you're female), thank you for pointing me in the direction of that app. I just installed it and it looks like the concept was modeled on JsChiSurf's notification bar (and considering the developer was from XDA, I wouldn't doubt it).
I just installed it on my Photon and it seems to work the same way. In fact, it's a bit more user friendly in that it allows you to select which toggles you want on the notification bar from a menu selection, rather than editing a text file. And although I haven't tested ALL the functions yet, so far, most are working on my Photon. I now have room again on my homescreen (temporarily had widgets installed) and can now access those functions from any screen.
Again, thank you very much! I guess I need to pull my head out of my *ss once in a while and take a look at what's new on the Market.

I tried this for a while. It's nice, but the Photon doesn't support the all-in-one notification, so each control takes a notification slot. It's nice, but I'm still holding out for Power Control Notification.

Future ROM feature wishlist

So I know that the devs are hard at work on getting us all kinds of CM, AOSP, and/or AOKP goodness, but I thought maybe if any of the devs are looking for some features to add it might be nice to have a thread they can refer to with everyones "wants" once the "needs" are met.
I'll start it off with a request to add support for BLN (back light notification) to an upcoming kernel. This, combined with the option to put the navigation bar on while dissabling the HW keys would be a great feature IMHO. Not to mention our stock notification LED pretty much sucks a big one.
ROM feature requests
Flashlight in notification drawer quick settings
More options in the shutdown menu (Boot to recovery, etc)
Get rid of the idiotic audio policy of volume reduction when plugging in headphones
Allow dialer rotation
The option to see the standard swipe lock screen before the secure lock.
True music controls on the lock screen
Better control of status bar icons (center clock, hide icons, change colors of icons, etc)
The ability to link the notification volume with the ringer volume
Volume rocker music controls
Universal Qslide
Kernel feature requests
BLN
Enable audio through USB for devices like the Infuse Car Dock (I think this is a kernel issue, if not let me know and I'll put it with the ROM stuff)
I didn't see a similar thread on here, so if there is, kindly point me to it and a mod can delete this one. And if BLN support already exists in Sk8's kernel tell me that too, ha ha.
I haven't looked into the ROMs because I'm liking stock, but a request I do have for when I do decide to flash is to have a flashlight if it hasn't been incorporated into the ROMs out now. There's a lot of times where I need to look for something and don't feel like turning on my light switch. Would be a nice thing to be implemented if it hasn't been done and can be done.

I don't know if this is what you have in mind, but I use TeslaLED: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.flashlight&feature.. It has a widget you can add to the homescreen for a quick on off, as well as some other features. I actually have it as one of my lock screen apps. I wish there was a way to have it turn on when opened from the lockscreen, but it's only one extra tap.
Edit: Gah! John beat me to one.
PS: TeslaLED is only 512K, whereas Tiny Flashlight is anything but at 1.5M

My wishlist:
1. Get rid of the idiotic audio policy of volume reduction when plugging in headphones
2. Allow dialer rotation
3. Enable audio through USB for devices like the Infuse Car Dock.
The two features I really want to see are:
- The option to see the standard swipe lock screen before the secure lock.
- true music controls on the lock screen instead of using the notification controls
sent from my LGOG
My biggest things are center clock, ability to hide things on status bar, and a flashlight toggle. The Base has done pretty well but I would love a flashlight toggle in my quick settings in my notification drawer. The swipe for flashlight thing was so touchy that I disable it.
Also, I love the theme chooser app and ability to have easy themes for my ROMs like in CM10 and AOKP
EDIT: also the ability to boot straight into download and recovery mode like in certain other ROMs using the power button.

The Base ROM does have a flashlight built in, you can activate it in the notification drawer options.
I was using Tesla until I found this.
Though I do wish it was in the Quick Settings too.
I would also love native reboot options.
And lastly, I would love the ability to link the notification volume with the ringer volume.

I had actually forgot about this feature. I just tried it again and sometimes it takes three or four swipes to turn on. Might be user error though.
Swipe for torch works perfect for me.
Reboot options would be nice.

I actually came up with a wish while looking at the android dev section.
It doesn't actually have to do with the rom itself, but I'm hoping that as things become further developed to not only have a Changelog but to have a what's working list/what's not working list or just the latter.
I see a lot of threads gets bogged down with DOES THIS WORK? IS THIS INCLUDED?
Granted there's a group of people out there that don't read and just flash, but it could be helpful for another group of people that compare and contrast roms (like myself) before flashing.
Anyone else agree?

That makes sense to me. I wonder if xda could get a ROM form together so all the devs can include all the same info in their ROM's thread's OP. I don't know how practical that would be, but it would be nice to have some standardization.

That is a pretty cool idea.
But from what I've seen, most ROM posts actually follow a pretty basic design.
