I have been given a pre launch version of the Nokia Lumia 800.. The phone is missing some stuff that the retail version has like Nokia Music etc and its also a little buggy... i have tried updating from zune but thinks its fully updated
Does anyone know how i can flash the retail Rom on it and where i could download?

I doubt Android will be able to run well on this phone considering how laggy it is on much higher spec'd phones.

Why N1, Nexus S is available and better,
or Sony Ericsson Xperia ARC ( release date: April )
Nexus one is an awsome device.. I own one
But it has the same touch screen capability as X10 ---- > Dual touch
Considering the timely updates you get with nexus one... I think it is best bet.
I would recommend Nexus S
Well i bought a nexus one from google when they were available and it wasnt to long before i got rid of it for the X10 and havent regretted it yet.

how would you judge the two phones when it comes to the x10's 8megpix ??
xperia x10 with the all modifications.. same as Nexus S..
I wouldn't recommend nexus one because you are just exchanging for a pure Google experience product. Megapixel doesn't determine picture quality. Its all about the lens, sensor, and image processing software. Pix quality of course x10 is better than nexus one.
Go for nexus S or wait longer for dual core devices. X10 doesn't have Froyo and Nexus S's hardware doesn't perform as good as the hummingbird CPU in Nexus S.

How long have you have your X10? I wouldn't change it before "squeezing" all its potential.
My advise: keep it at least one more half of a year, and then start looking for your next phone. Now, if you can't wait and if you wish to keep in SE's line, Arc is your option, but for me, is not a great phone, I only remark the Bravia Displa, Gingerbread and the HDMI plug-in, anything else is not a big deal.
Or Nexus S.

Correct me if i am wrong, but i remember nexus one have an exact same proc with x10, which mean it's not actually an upgrade if you change your x10 into a nexus one. The only better thing is RAM. --in terms of hardware.
If I where you, I'd try and remember why you bought the X10 in the first place. I mean, the Nexus One was already available when you bought your X10, so obviously it has some qualities that made you choose it in the first place. I am guessing it was the look of the device, and the camera, right? Those are the X10's biggest distinguishing features, so I would like for another Android device that comes close to those.
As far as camera is concerned, there probably is no better Android available yet. Maybe the Samsung Galaxy S is the next best thing in this regard?
As far as looks is concerned, nothing really comes close yet, in my opinion. Although I really like the way the HTC Desire Z looks for some reason (and I don't normally like HTC designs, too boring).
But why are we even talking about these old phones? Next month it's time for the Mobile World Congress 2011, during with numerous new Android phones will be introduced and some will even be released by then, with brand new hardware like dual core processors and new versions of Android that will make our current phones look really outdated. Right now seems like a bad time to switch to another phone: I would wait for just a little while longer.

no need to get N1, its the same gen as X10
if u want the best current gen phone then get HTC Desire HD / HTC Desire Z
the dual core phones will take a bit of time (3+ months) to come to market...
The Nexus One is ugly.
Stay with the X10 until dual core phones come out.

If one is a color purist like me, then the AMOLED screens are a DISADVANTAGE, actually. And it's going to stay that way until a new-gen AMOLED arrives which doesn't mess with the saturations.

There is a hell lot different between "chinese phones" sold in india like G-Five etc.
But phones like MIUI are incredible. Check google, almost 60 % of the phone manufacturing companies are in China & Japan like NOKIA, APPLE, LG or Samsung

I am getting 1 for myself after seeing revievs in october, after seeing phone performance as it has huge capabilities .Read somwhere that it dual boot with any android os so cm7,aosp, maybe windows phone 7, so yes hope that xda starts a forum for this beast soon and than dev can kick in .
Its beleive to be the sucessor of htc hd2 one of the best phone available in this universe who knows even alien might be using it.
So waiting for reviews.............if the phone doesnt turn out good than will get a defy.

Dunt buy this phone.... It has great features and stuff actually I wanted to buy one... But I remember, if I brick this phone, how I gonna repair it? If the touchscreen spoils, how I gonna send it servicing? Think wisely guys... It may had good features but lack of support(Like LG ALSO!)

Like he said, you can download a launcher from the market and make it look like a Windows phone but you cannot actually port it.
This is a wp7ROM coming for android soon, so just hang in there.

I have to second the launcher 7, look and feel of 7, with the backbone and support of android
Something to look forward to I miss metro ui and my hd7... L7 doesn't even come close to looking or feeling like wp7 the app list is the only thing close to it. Theres only 2 apps, seven+ calculator and ubermusic that are very close to feeling like wp.
Thanks for your replies guys, looks like ill give the Amaze a miss then. Im not a fan of Android. I had a sensation for a while and couldnt get on with it or Android. Since putting WP7 on my HD2 with a class 6 32GB SD card, ive fallen in love! I was intersted in the Amaze because it has an accessible SD, where as most phones at the moment seem to have the SD card locked away.

I want it because its great. As i said in an earlier post i dont like android and cant get on with it. It was always freezing and crashing. Ive been using WP7 for 6 months on my HD2 and i havent had any problems. Never had a crash or had to restart the phone. It works perfectly with my my zune and win 7 computers and sync with my hotmail accounts. I understand many people are android fanboys, but im just not one of them. Thanks for the advice!

Why would you bother asking about it being moved to an android phone then, wp7s hardware sucks because that's how windows phone is designed as an OS they have requirements and what it does and doesn't function with yet. It will be a while before it gets on great hardware and even with mango it still feels incomplete, there are a few good things about it though.

Call down, he just wants the best hardware he can find
Windows Phone 7 currently has a strict hardware compatibility list. For now best to stick with phones that are built for WP7 otherwise there are likely to be issues. I'd be very careful buying a new Android phone and thinking you can get WP7 on it.
Hey guys, there's a sad news and a good news. For the first; bad news is that my SGA got stolen in an Car Fair (named Auto-Expo), so I was there standing between huge crowd and someone pickpocketed my phone while I was not paying attention to it.
After 3 days, the money I collected for Galaxy S Plus, thinking that I'd sell Ace and get some money from it so in totality I'd get S Plus. So I invested the money I collected on Motorola Defy, which has very active forums on xda, plus has very active development and most of all official MIUI and Cynogenmod and I am VERY happy with this phone.
So this is end of my legacy, bye guys have fun and I think one day Ace would get stable and fully working ICS, and it could be overclocked to 1200 Mhz easily.

I can use your help, since I am very confused with rooting, flashing and finding particullar SBF for it to run MIUI. Can you PM me the whole procedure? By the way I have red lens Defy with 2.2.2 Asiatic firmware.
Red lense is better from what I understand. You need superoneclick to root.
Once rooted download the app from this thread(2nd init installer)

And run it. It crashed first time for me but worked fine second time. After that download the miui or what ever you want to flash And put on memory card. After that. . . .
shut down.
Power up.
Press down on volume rocker when blue led flashes
Recovery menu will load. On this touch screen in bottom right corner to show menu.
Choose recovery.
Custom recovery.
Cwm will load.
Sure you know the drill after that.

Even though you are probably trolling, technically, it is certainly possible.

Instead of everyone complaining about the original question can we get back to on topic?
At the moment the Bootloader of the 800 is in most cases locked so it is impossible to flash even customized Windows Phone 7 ROMs. The Lumia 710 (and a few Lumia 800s) have an unlocked Bootloader with direct access to the NAND storage. So technically it would be possible to run an alternative OS on the Lumia 710 and very few Lumia 800s. The issue here is that there are no drivers for Nokia, so you will be out of luck in the near future.
