[Q] TSM PoolParty 1.5 Speed Dial - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Running TSM Poolparty 1.5 but for some reason I cannot add any of my contacts to speed dial. The way I have done this on other ROMS is from the phone dialer screen, click the 'menu' hard button and it gives the option to modify Speed Dials. When I click on menu button on this ROM in the phone dialer nothing happens?
Anyone else with a similar problem?

How do you default HD2 Phone to show Speed Dial entries?

By default, the phone screen on the HD2 shows all Calls and Contacts. To get to your Speed Dial entries, you must hit Menu->View->Speed Dial. Not the speediest of things, and defeats the purpose of a "speed dial".
Does anyone know of a regedit to default the selection to "Speed Dial" rather than "Calls and Contacts"?
I couldn't find an answer in these forums, although I saw a few others asked the same thing... one poster referred me to co0kies home tab (which I use), but couldn't find any reference/solution to my dilemma.
Any one have a suggestion/answer?
Thanks!
I dont know if its possible to default the screen to speed dial, but the next best suggestion i can offer is setting up your home screen to your contacts there instead. if you dont have enough icons u can always use CHT to get more.

I use CHT and have a link to Contacts, but it would be really nice to have "Speed Dial" work as a one-button (or minimal keystroke) solution to frequently called numbers. Of course voice command helps too, but the Speed dial is a really nice feature I miss from the "stock" WM Dialer.
CHT even give you an avatar, only one click, instead of run phone panel first.
I think WM's speed dial is no way better than that...
By the way, the really fast way to active spead dial, which also worked on original WM dialer, is to keep the related botton on the dialer pressed for about one second, and there it goes. For e.g. keep "1" pressed to call your voice mailbox.

I just checked out the CHT shortcut you mentioned. Works great... I must have overlooked the ability to shortcut a "contact". Also, just checked out the "number long-press"... also a feature I wasn't aware of (I knew it was supported in WM 6.0 but didn't even think to try it in 6.5).
Anyway, now for curiosity sake, I'm still interested to find out where in the registry (if at all), the HTC dialer stores the default selection.
Thanks for the tips.

I am experiencing lag with the new Xperia ICS dialer! it takes around 3 to 4 seconds sometimes to launch the dialer. I've tried all ROMs and boost scripts but none was able to fix it.
x10 dialer on stock 2.1 with zkernel is by far the smoothest, not joking
First you need to see that you have enough memory. Maybe you need transfer some apps to SD.
The risk is yours, but with your root editor (for example, you can download "build.prop Editor" for free at the Play / Market) you can also see that you have this in your build.prop:
ro.telephony.call_ring.delay=100
ro.telephony.call_ring.multiple=false
video.accelerate.hw=1
ro.lge.proximity.delay=150
mot.proximity.delay=100
You need take care copying every character carefully, of course.
If you're using build.prop editor, instead of the "=" sign you'll write the result directly in the "Property key".
Hope it helps you.
if the proximity sensor is causing problems for you during the call, add the following line to buildprop
gsm.proximity.enable=false
the sensor will be disable during the call but careful not to press any key by mistake during the call.
try to enable hardware video acceleration, it made the dialer little faster but few other apps crashing..
I tried many build.prop tweaks.. none fixed the lad in the stock dialer!

[Q] How to get into the test menu on my X10

Obviously I've scearched the site and found
From key lock screen, press "menu > back > back > menu > back > menu > menu > back"
which does nothing what so ever
and
*#*#4636#*#*
Which gets me into a nice menu with some usefull info but nothing that will allow me to test the different parts of the phone.
The reason I need this is to test my screen, it will sometimes not react when I touch the borders of the screen, some other times, like when writing messages, it will show the letter "a" in big, but it will not actually be added to my message.
Is this a common problem, the message system (It does the same on internet browser) or is it just my phone.
And how do I get into the menu from lockscreen?
I got rooted stock .435 with .54bb
Tks for an excellent site
It's home back back home back home home back

Thanks a lot!
Smal but significant difference between home and menu buttons...
;-)
Anyone has similar issues with the letters not performing properly? The touchscreen seems to be working properly, I whited almost all the screen.
Is it a common .435 problem?

Yes, it is! But the combination you had at the begining is for Donut 1.6. For 2.1 is with home button.
For the typing, I recomend to use another keyboard since stock have this problem with the side letters.
is there any chance, to get into this menu with a 2.2 custom rom ?

Speed dial.

Is there any way to set speed dial for this phone? search by can't find it
You could:
1. Add a contact to your favorites
2. Put a shortcut to "Call Direct" that contact right on a home screen
If you want the dialer to have an option like "long press #2 to dial a person" then you might need to use a different dialer.
Ok. But somenone tells me that is possible to have speed dial with a long press on a dial number (3 for example), and configuring the name of the contact taht you want to call. But that does not work for me...
No. You just can add Favorite People on the homescreen. This option miss for me. HTC have the best Call Options.
I don't really mind having no speed dial, I haven't used it much on my previous phone anyway.
With, I don't know what you call it, when typing the numbers corresponding to letters, the contacts get displayed (I think HTC called it smart dial a long time ago), and the call history right there I find I'm not using speed dials at all.
I'm not a heavy call user though...
Speed dial is not available on Android 2.3.x. It will be on ICS
You should use another dialer. I recommend DW Dialer (& DW Contact)
On home screen, add a shortcut to your contact number. Then just press it to dial.

Thanks! While I wait for ICS , I'l use the favorites.
One alternative option until ICS arrives:
Try swipepad and add the options to directly call to these contacts.
Then you can, with a single movement, even without needing to open the Phone application, call them.
I just discover the application. Not sure regarding performance impacts but the usability it gives is great.
It does have speed dial. Just long press a number then set it up.
xperia
when i upgrade my room, speed dial was disapper :| I use KA sspeed

Dialpad touchtones missing.

I have an I-747 (ATT) SGS 3 and it's stock rooted.
I have only had the phone a couple of days and I've noticed the phone touchtones are missing. There's no touchtone sounds when dialing a number and when entering a key on the keypad like to enter a VM password, I get this ugly monotone sound on each key. In other words it doesn't sound like a touch tone phone. Is this normal?
I've installed the STock ROM via Odin and it still does this.
Normal? if not how can I fix it?
Its in your settings
Menu Button>Settings>Sound>Keytones

Not there
Im out of ideas, maby its in the manual somewhere?
Im perplexed. I'm assuming the tones are built in to the dialer apk ill pull one from a rom and move it to the phone and see what happens.
I think it must be a hardware problem. I just installed the latest OTA through KIES and the problem persists. Very strange because I get touch tones in go dialer.
If anyone cares...
I chatted up Samsung Tech support today and was informed that this is normal.
The dialer doesn't do touchtones.
