Travel Adapter for Access to Webtop Application
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005J373HG/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1320197923&sr=8-1
I just got off the phone with Motorola and they have confirmed that this will work with the Photon 4G!!! So for those of you that do not want to Root your Photon or spend $100 to use Webtop, this is an option.
Thanks!

This thing is Nice!!! because it's not in the dock I can now use the phone as a true track pad.
I diggit! worth the few bucks it cost IMO.
forgive my ignorance...
you plug this into the usb and hdmi ports on the photon. you plug in the micro hdmi and power supply micro-usb output to the adapter?
Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk
Ignorance forgiven. My understanding is that with just the micro hdmi cable you wont have access to the webtop application unless you root and mess around with the phone. This is a cheaper solution than the hd dock

I dont see the point of this. As long as you have to buy the hdmi cable anyway just hook it up directly to the tv. Bluetooth keyboard works with bluetooth keyboard app (I have not tried bluetooth mouse as of yet).

i have not had good luck with bt keyboards and mice.
they both tend to go unresponsive intermittently and that makes them difficult to use.
this was with multiple photons and a keyboard and mouse that worked perfectly on other computers.

Have you tried pressing 0000 or something similar. I had to do this blindly. There is a post on XDA that discusses this.
Also, how can I get the webtop app if I am root without the gadgets?

this isn't a pairing issue, they pair with no issue. but the mouse and keyboard go unrrsponsive frequently but work fine with a pc.

You have two plug in the power cable at the same time then it will work.
I was thinking just a cable that plugs into my phone that has an HDMI plug on the other end. Is this correct or is there more to it? I basically want to watch Netflix on my large television instead of my Note when possible. Thanks.

Its the Samsung MHL adapter that came with my Infuse when I bought it..
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005LGUDKK
A lot of people on the amazon reviews say its not a real Samsung adapter that its a knock off..

I've bought an USB host wire and an USB hub as I've seen that these were necessary to plug usb devices to the motorola atrix but it doesn't works.
Devices are powered but the phone doesn't recognise them (even for the usb drives...)
Does someone know how to make it work, do I have to mod the hub or do something like that?
I hope someone will find the answer to my problem (I've used the search bar several times and didn't find it)
Ps: Is it the right section to post this ? I'm hesitating with the Q/A
I think USB devices through OTG cable only work in webtop. Normal Android system has no support for client devices. I could be wrong though.
No idea about the section. Let's just leave it here.
AS everything works with the same setup on my friends phones.
Unless motorola has screwed us again and it's why Im talking about mod, I don't see the reason why it shoudn't work on our phones
you need a kernel with OTG support, the atrix supports it only when plugged in the HDDock or in the LapDock, if you manage to make it recognizes the USB Hub as the Dock, you should have everything working, also, you could check faux123's kernel, i dont remember, but it may support it.
but from what i got, it was supposed to be working after android 4.1(or not, the GNexus and the Nexus 10 support it, dunno if or why the N4 and N7 doesnt.)
I'm under avatarRom son I dont know.
I've heard that to make it able to be recognized as a dock, the only to do it is to power the phone through the usb wire, can anyone confirme that before I butcher my hub ?

Sent from my MB860 using xda app-developers app
Look its very simple. First you have to connect the hub with the phone (via the otg cable). Then you connect the hub with the charger (need usb male->male) so the ports are powered ... and VOILA the remaining ports are free for you
PS: i think that the quality hubs have something like power protection (?). In my case i first tried some ebay hubs (but they didnt made it for more than one week) so i bought a cheap (10$) ,but very good, from a local store

Makes it very nice to hook up multiple things at the same time. At one point I had 3 flash drives and another micro sd in there, and the Note 2 seen all 4 of them as well as the internal and external microsd on the back w/o a problem.
Also, I didn't expect this to work, but the Note 2's OTG port will spit out enough current to spin up my 1.5TB My Passport drive without any help. I was utterly shocked. I left it hooked up for about 5 minutes and never seen the battery go down even a %. Too bad it was formatted as NTFS otherwise the phone would have seen it.
