Any feedback on getjar? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

HI,
I just stumpled on the site getjar. They offer paid apps for free. How do they do this? No, I am not affiliated with this site. Just want to know if it's the real deal.
Thanks

I don't know how they go about negotiating with developers to offer apps for free, but getjar is legit and has been around for a LONG time!

Real deal, no tricks! Getjar is really good!

How do you get it to work with our phone, there's no galaxy s ii option

Btw, not sure this is just a "today only" deal as I got this the other day. Most of the free apps from Getjar seem to be there for a while. So, not sure how long it is going to last, but it is definitely one that I liked from them. Lots a nice widgets to get since it is the paid version for free.
Zug
its still up there if anyone wants it.
Still there. Thanks a lot!
Thanks for the heads up. Btw swiftkey is for free aswell.
Does this site link it to the marketplace as well, so that you get future updates?

Nope, you get what you get and that's it no updates on getjar. If you try to update on Marketplace you can, but they'll charge you the full price.

hmm backbreaker doesn't work for me..
There's quite a few good free (paid?) apps on there. I don't understand why someone would publish through them, but looking it up online it seems legit.

I would bet that the sales for those apps went down so either getjar paid them to be able to publish the website(and they recoup the cost with their ads) or the app dev gets a cut of the ad money based on how many times their app is downloaded from the site..
edit: just looked at their site:
GetJar generates revenue through its PPD (pay per download) system which allows developers to get premium visibility in GetJarā€™s store and distribution partners by bidding for ad slots.
Woot! Dling now!

It was free for forever on Getjar but then it was put on the Android Market for money and then the one on Getjar was changed from "free" to a paid app too.

The app is still free....
cut the rope via GetJar
The only drawback on Getjar is that we won't get updates like Amazon Appstore has. Getjar is free but you get stuck with that ver no for each app, no updates or bugfixes.

yes, but its free!! lol so if you missed the free app on amazon then you can get it free here! and most of the apps will alert you when there is a new version available. Most of them are coded with checking the Home site. Like for example on cut the rope you can actually manually check the site for updates.... Not that big of deal IMO

Tapatalk free from GetJar!

GetJar is offering Tapatalk for free! usually 2.99 but its is now free in their gold star apps!
too bad I already purchased it -.-
I have heard others recommend it, but I still don't really know what this does or why its worth buying (or in this case, getting from GetJar for free).
What makes this app good? I mean, I have the XDA app for XDA and the phpbb seems to render fine in Opera/Dolphin for the other forums.
Why do I need/want this app?

I'm not saying you should need it or want it, just pointing out that its for free through GetJar.
What makes this app good is that it can access multiple forums such as androidcentral, ppcgeeks, xda, and numerous others. all in one app. whereas the XDApp can only access XDA ofcourse.
Some people prefer to have an app access all their favorite forums and this app does just that. I believe the XDApp is based of from the Tapaptalk app. but correct me if I'm wrong.

download it and get the lego batman game for free
Ya its a really awesome service. There are a bunch of people downrating the app saying they aren't getting the free Lego Batman. I didn't get it free till an email arrived and said I have the game for free. I think people just need to wait for that email.

is it really worth it?
its free... so.... is it worth installing an app to get a free pc game...?

next launcher free with getjar gold

You can upgrade next launcher to full version free via getjar gold (for 280 points). I did not download since I already have official version but just thought of posting here. You can see the deal in "App deals" in getjar app
Great find. It's actual cost at this time is 1200 gold. The 280 gold is what you get for purchasing the app. It took a lot of downloading apps for gold, but I was able to download the update to full version for the 1200 gold price, so...for free! Thanks for the heads up!
Thanks for the update. Like I said I didn't download as I already have the official version.

I envy that. I wish I could support developers in a financial way, but at this moment all I can give is my praise. Kuddos for being able to purchase the official version. I missed out a while back when it was free for a day and had been kicking myself for that. So thanks for bringing it to our attention, because I would have overlooked the option with the getjar gold.
Hmm, I download the free version, yes? How to get the option to get the premium version via getjar gold?
/CK
Download apps mentioned in getjar and collect points. Once you reach 1200 points you can upgrade to full version using gold when you select upgrade inside launcher preferences. It is definitely pain to collect 1200 points as you have to download lots of free apps
