Hi, i would like to know if there is any incentive for me to push my third party keyboard to /system/app.
Is it doable and would it net me any benefits?

coincidentally, am using smart keyboard pro as well. value it for its dynamic next key resizing. thanks for the tip!
Don't be afraid to experiment though! With a backup using titanium you can pretty much mess around with it.
I like it for the t9 and its skins

probably and advertisement that came from an app you downloaded. I hate those..
Find the app that is doing it, rate it 1 star then uninstall and find a better similar app where the developers aren't douchebags.
Having same problem. How do i find the app thats responsible?
I wouldn't know.. if it only happened recently and you installed apps recently I would start with those..
Maybe read comments on the apps you downloaded, many people will complain about it.
All the big apps are likely safe to assume they're not the one doing it. It's usually smaller apps, less known games that do it to bring in more money.
EDIT:
Actually I take that back. There is an app to see which apps are pushing those annoying advertisements:

You need Ad push detector, it's available free from the market.
I had same problem, for me it was a an ics theme for launcher go. I removed it and found alternative, now all is good no more crappy star notification.

I had the same issue and downloaded Addons Detector. I scanned for Push Notifications...and nuked the app responsible.
Google really shouldn't allow such crap into the market though. It takes away from the integrity of the app market.

Thanks for the tip on the app, downloaded it and found the app, It was a Battery Calibration app that had many people who had rated it as an air push app. What a pain in the ass those things are, they should be illegal. I have a rooted phone with adfree downloaded and it still came thru. Not any more, didn't need that damn app anyways.
Thanks again,
Vinny

I'm thinking of developing a proper text expansion app for Android, and am wondering if there would be much of a market for this. The app would
- work with any keyboard
- sync with TextExpander/Breevy over Dropbox
- require root access
The only way to get proper text expansion at the moment is to use a specific keyboard, and the keyboards that exist don't offer syncing.
So...would you want this?

There are some text expansion capabilities that are already part of the standard android soft keyboard.
I personnally prefer to use an external keyboard if i seriously want to write something since the soft keyboard
is not a good option.
I wrote an app to have text expansion for android devices, blueduino hotkeys. Its available at the play store.
There is also beta programme at blueduino dot com if you want to try it out, tell me what you think about it! =)
I just got my link to Minuum for android wear. The only problem is that I'm at work and of course I don't have my cradle with me, so I'll have to wait till tonight. I tried using adb thru bluetooth but I'm not sure exactly how it works, so I guess it'll have to wait till tonight. So excited...
I got it about a week ago loaded on g watch but would not bring up a keyboard just instructions.

I got my invite, but I haven't installed it yet. Later tonight, I guess.
As far as I know, it's completely useless at the moment as Android Wear doesn't allow for keyboard input.

for now yes, but in the future. answer a sms from your watch without having to chose from a preset. or send that tiny whatsapp message from your watch. theres possibilities with it.
I tried it, got the app to run, but never managed to get the keyboard to pop up.
The only issue is that few/no apps support keyboard entry. I was hoping to test SWApp - that insists on keyboard entry at configuration (but no joy with that either).
Edit: fixed
It was a conflict with Wear Mini Launcher - some GPU resource issue maybe. On your phone, open wear mini launcher, set 'enable drawer' to off. Obviously this means you can't have the launcher active, but at least it is possible to test, without having to un-install.
