[Q] Flyer ClockworkMod Recovery - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

Hello Guys
Just a quick question
When I try to flash the CWM from the Rom Manager , FLYER option is still NOT there....
Is Flyer still running on CWM 4.0.1.4 ? Is there a newer CWM for Flyer ?

I have the same question, but I think we need to make a request to the developer to include it in his development plan.

Yes, I guess
I tweeted him just a few minutes ago .....

Any reply?
I'd love an updated 5.0.2.0 CWM.

Nope , not a reply so far,
Maybe we should all tweet / e-mail him till we get a reply .

Do not do that. It is an extremely impolite this to do to someone who is giving their time for free. Why exactly are you looking for an newer version? Does the one you have not work?

The current recovery on my Flyer is the Revolution one that ROM Manager does not recognize. I don't know if this recovery needs to be submitted to be included/supported but it is currently considered a "custom" recovery.

Yes, the Flyer CW recovery is custom and therefore not supported by ROM manager. Be careful using ROM manager with our custom recovery as the results can be unpredictable as in unusable backups and other bad things can happen.

no real use for Rom manager if non of the Roms for the device are available through it. If you have a custom recovery it is largely a useless utilty (Rom Manager)

I sent an e-mail from the CWM market page per his instructions to ask to have a device included and have not gotten a reply. I sent this message over 2 weeks ago. Something has broken my recovery and I cannot get into recovery unless I run the install all over again from an ADB command and then it only works once. I would love to have CWM working for my view if only to able to boot into recovery and have a working backup/restore. Perhaps if several people requested it via the market page as he instructs, he would find it worth his time to do create a recovery.

Is it possible to get CWM to see the sdcard? Currently i can only see what I think is the system portion if that makes sense.

"mounts and storage"
mount sdcard
or mount internal sdcard
depending on which card you want.

CWM ROM manager keeps crashing and freezing after cy9 flash

Hi, I have been trying to figure this out for hours.
I flashed cyanogen mod 9 using rom manager from my stock rooted 19300. All went smoothly but now with cyanogenmod 9 Rom manager is really temperamental and keeps not responding when I try to use it.
Anyone any help? Please go easy with the tech terms I am a total beginner.
I also noted cyanogen mod 9 has no file explorer but I found root manager seems to do the trick. Took me a while to figure that out aswell.
Cool ROM though!:good:
Hope someone can help me out.
don't use rom manager, allegedly it's buggy. also, why ICS? we now live in a JB world

It was my first flash. I thought it was fairly new? How do I get JB? Where can I find the ROM file?
Thanks for the reply
So clockwork rom Manager seems to be ok now.
But another issue thats really bugging me is that CW rom manager won't recognise my ext sd card.!
Anyone any ideas
same answer, don't use it. find roms in the roms section

Ok cheers, So what would you recommend I use instead for backing up ROM's etc. CWM just makes things so easy for installing ROM's from the phone. Is there another app that will do this.
On cyanogemod 9 CWM seems to be a system app also. So cant really go delete it.

Use the recovery menu. What you are doing is not ment to be easy. You have to understand what you are doing or you will end up in an unhappy place now that your warranty is voided.

Never had warranty in the first place. Have to learn somehow so no point being afraid of it. So what your saying is use cwm manually so to speak instead of backing up roms and flashing new rom through the app?

Yes. Rom manager has caused issues as long as i can remember, to the point that even some devs advice not to use it at all.

Yep CWM recovery as it states on the tin CWM Manager is no longer updated or supported .

Im kind of confused. Is cwm recovery not rom manager? Do i have rom manager or cwm recovery
Im going to attach screen shots.
So is this what i should use? Or is it recommended to use something else.
If i shouldnt use it, what will happen if i delete it seen as it's a system app and what's a good replacement?

No Rom manager is not CWM recovery. It is an app that is supposed to work with the cwm recovery.
All the options you need are in recovery when you boot directly to recovery from the reboot menu.

ROM Manager

I've just rooted my device....first time ever, and just going through many of the lists of things to install and do. ROM Manager seems to be mentioned on every site. I installed it, was going to try and make a nandroid backup before I venture into flashing a custom ROM. First off, when I try to put in my Recovery Setup, I dont see the Galaxy S4 in the list of phones. Right now it just says Current Recovery: ClockworkMod 5.x.x.x
I thought this was correct, but when I go to "Reboot into Recovery" and try to make a backup....there is no option to make a backup on the startup list.
I've never used ROM manager before....have no idea what I need to change as I cant even find any GS4 listed. I was assuming I set it up incorrectly and thats why I couldnt backup. Anyone know what might be going on here?
Any help here? I'm confused, to get ClockworkMod Recovery to install....you install ROM Manager correct? I've uninstalled ClockworkMod ROM Manager and reinstalled it, still dont have the option to select a GS4 and no option to make a backup when in recovery mode. I do need to use this to make a recovery of my phone if I flash a new ROM and want to go back correct?
Every video I've seen of people setting this up on their GS4, find a GS4 on the phone list....why dont I see one? Is there another component needed to use this properly?

The current build of cwm recovery for this phone is not supported through rom manager. This phones recoverys are loki patched to bybass bootloader. Easiest way to install cwm is via my all in one tool in yhe development section. If you are already rooted choose preo for recovery step then install cwm steo. Full instructions and things to watch for are in the 1st post

Ok so its not me...I thought I was going crazy here. Thank you so much!
BTW, does ROM Manager need to stay on the phone to do this? (sorry noob here)
I did as you said, everything went fine....but when I reboot in recovery, I still have no option to make a backup. This is the proper procedure to make a backup of your phone before flashing a custom ROM right, or am I going about this the wrong way? I want to make sure I cover my butt if I dont like one or screw it up.

I got it to work, I had uninstalled ROM Manager before doing this install method because I thought it was useless....didnt realize that it was needed to load the proper recovery. I'm all good now.....so far =)
I got it to work and am able to backup to the internal SD, but I cant seem to get it to backup to my extSD. Every time I choose external, I get "Cant mount /external_sd" "Cant mount backup path" Using a 64gb Samsung card if it helps....
Thanks again!
Lol. It won't back up ext sd because you don't have that partition..you're all good

AT&T Htc One X - Bricked and need advice

One of my friends BRICK his phone and he has no idea how. He has a rooted HTC ONE X on AT&T network with Viper XL (Not even sure what version of the ROM) probably from last december.
It is now stuck on the Booting animation screen and won't get passed that. I am able to access TWRP recovery, but there is not zip files or backups any longer. When I originally flashed this phone for him I had a zip file on the root of the internal SD CARD. It no longer is there and i have not rooted/flashed a phone for almost a year and can't remember.
I tried to fastboot oem lock and it fails (was thinking i could some how get it to boot and install stock jelly bean)
I am able to mount the SD card via TWRP and throw a rom in there via zip, but when i unmount i and go to restore or install i do not see any zip. When I mount again the file i put in the phone no longer exists.
Is there a work around or another way to flash any custom room. I was thinking of CM10 nightly evita... I don't care what rom as long as i can get the phone working again for him.
Is there a way to flash a rom the way we flash boot.img via fastboot where the files can reside on the PC and not the phone? Any assistance/tips would be great. Again i don't care which rom I flash and i have TWRP recovery access. Currently i have CM10 downloaded if hat helps. Thank you in advanced.

Yeah I notice that sorry, but i can't seem to find the one x forums any longer.
OK i found it sorry about that guys.
Glad you found the correct forum eventually. However, if you con boot into recovery, I'd suggest using adb to push a rom to the phone and flash that. I've always had Samsung phones, and this is my first HTC, but I would imagine the same theory applies to all vendors. If your phone can boot into recovery, and you have the right drivers installed, you can push a file to the phone and flash that.

Yeah but I would need a ROM that allows to be installed via FASTBOOT Opposed to zip file thrown in the sd card. Do you know of any Jelly bean rom? I haven't been on these forums for a while and have no idea what i can use. If you do please let me know if not thanks anyways and for your recommendation much appreciated.

[Q] Need help installing clockwork recover on my Atrix HD MB886

Hello XDA members,
I was hoping somebody would help me out, I'm fairly new when it comes to installing custom roms so I require your patience. I don't know how to install a custom rom onto my Bell Atrix HD MB886, everytime I try it says abortion failed, what can I do to fix this. I have wiped data and all that probably 5 times in the past week alone. I would like to know how to successfully install roms without errors. Both the times that I have done this I had my bootloader unlocked, and I had clockword recovery mod latest version 6.0.4.4. I bought an SD card today to help install the roms because otherwise I can't do it from my internal storage. I really hope somebody can help me out.
Regards,
Roger

Hi there. A failed abortion certainly seems like an issue... I guess I am not totally clear on the status here. You say that you had CWM. Do you still have it? Bootloader is still unlocked? What rom are you trying to install? Are you certain it's for the Bell version and not like the AT&T one? What is the exact error message?

No I don't have it atm as I just wiped the data/cache last night but will I already have CWM, I just need to unlock the bootloader and try again...I'm trying to install this one:
Android 4.4.2 KitKat Mokee Rom, and it says the version is a nightly. Yes I'm positive it's the Bell Version as I purchased it at a Bell Store and my carrier is Bell. The error message is "Installation Aborted." It begins installing, and then halfway through I get that error message. How do I fix this?
I figured you knew what phone you had. I was wondering if you had a rom built for the Bell version vs an ATT one. But since you are using a CM based rom, it obviously doesn't matter. Curious as to why you are bothering with relocking the bootloader? But I suggest to either try a different version of the rom, or to change your recovery to one of the Philz Touch versions as that's what some of the other users in that thread for the rom for your phone were using. You can find them here:

No I was bothering to unlock it again, not lock it. Where can I find different versions for the 4.4.2 Mokee Rom? I've tried using the Philz Touch version: Motorola Atrix HD One Click Philz recovery installer and when I tried it a couple of times it said it failed to install although I'm not sure why. I came across these images the other day but how do I use the .img files on my device, as I'm not sure to proceed from here once I have them downloaded.

Odd. I just downloaded it to test and I didn't have any issues. If you can't get the actual application / exe file to open, then just use the Main-Skip.bat. Does the same thing.
If it doesn't open still, make sure that you have your anti-virus off as sometimes those interfere with programs like this. Might also try as admin.

Okay I wasn't looking at the actual .exe sorry, I got it to work and all I installed the Philz One Touch Recovery from that program, just downloaded a different rom and all and then I select the apply update from external storage and when it gets to the verifying update package, it gave me the same error message as yesterday, Installation Aborted.
So again, how do I fix this, am I doing something wrong? Why won't my custom rom install?

I don't think that is the most updated version. What's the version number of the recovery that was installed? It should be listed on the main page of it when you boot there. I was suggesting to use one of the new ones. It might have something to do with the SELinux support that KK roms need. You just have to put the img file in the tools folder and rename the new one the same. But here's no other error that shows up other than Installation Aborted? I was thinking usually it would have an error code or some other message.Have you checked the md5 of the rom zip to make sure it's not corrupted (if the dev provided it)?

Pop the battery out for a bit, then pop it back in and hold Volume Down while powering up. Should get you into fastboot where you can skip to the recovery.

Oh yea, forgot you have to undo the screws on the bottom. So you scroll down to hit recovery and use the Power button to select and it doesn't do anything? That's odd.. Try and reflash the recovery since you can still get to fastboot. If that doesn't work, you're not totally screwed since you can still get to fastboot, that means you should be able to restore it to stock and start over.
Alternatively, if you have fastboot set up, you could make sure that philz touch is in the fastboot folder and use this command:
fastboot boot recovery nameofphilztouchfile.img
If you don't have fastboot, then just grab this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790 , drop the recovery img in that folder and open the CMD prompt on your computer and change directories to it and run the command.

Long story short i rooted my phone tried to delete an app accidentally clicked on a system file, tried to wipe phone and removed os by accident. any way that i can fix this? iv been looking for quite awhile and i cant seem to figure out something that works.
I assume your using a custom recovery? You can use ADB Sideload from recovery to push a custom rom.zip to your device.
I'm not sure about CWM but in TWRP the sideload option is hidden in 'advanced'.

Hey, it's sounds familiar to what happened with my frnds nexus 7, is twrp showing this while rebooting that no os is installed? So it's seriously a problem because while researching Alot that time we found that problm is with emmc it's may b hardware+software issue as hardware may b gt corrupted if not than it's problm in some type of emmc partitions. Emmc is basically your storage. At that time we only found to install new emmc so we unroot it and and boatloader locked and send it to service center and got money back. May b it's another thing with you bt it's my personal experiences
