I successfully rooted my phone last night.
AT&T ver: 4.5.91
Android 2.3.4 (MOTOBLUR)
My problem seems to be with apps needing SU access. I installed Root Explorer and SetCPU after I installed Titanium Backup. TiBu works perfectly fine. However, when I try to open SetCPU, I get "The application SetCPU (process com.mhuang.overclocking) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." When I try to open Root Explorer, I get "The application Root Explorer (process com.speedsoftware.rootexplorer) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." With a little research and according to TiBu, both of those apps are installed under user and not system. Is this the reason they are crashing? I read a few articles resolving similar issues, but I'm just not sure how to install them as system apps. I am also using Taskill. If this is interfering in some way, please let me know.
Also, is there a guide somewhere for the benefits of rooting an Atrix? I know of a few things which are pretty handy, but I would like to get rid of some of the bloatware AT&T puts on the phone. I'm just not sure what exactly I can get rid of without messing something up.
Thank you!

For some foolish reason, I forcefully removed the Email.apk app from my LG Optimus Net with Titanium Backup. Before doing so, I did create a back up of the app. The reason for doing so was to install a different version of the Email.apk. Needless to say, when trying to install the other app, an error came up saying "Did not install". I tried to restore the previous app and the Titanium app just hung up and did nothing. I then found the a version of the "original" Gingerbread Email.apk and tried to install it and got the same error "Did not install". I also tried placing that app in the /system/apps directory on the phone. I rebooted the phone and no success with it showing up or installing. Multiple times throughout this process I also tried restoring the app, and restoring the app + data with no success.
Can anyone assist me in successfully installing Email.apk 2.3.4 on my device.
I obviously have root on the phone and realize that I can do all I want with the original Email app. If someone could also provide the apk too that would be great. Thank you!
With some messing around, I was able to get the Email.apk installed. Strange thing is is shows up as v2.3 with titanium back up and does not show up at all under mange applications. Its ok, I guess. If anyone can still supply the stock app from the Optimus Net it would be greatly appreciated.
Hello all,
I rooted my wife's 16GB NT, which had several games on it, all downloaded from B&N. They all worked fine on the unrooted device. However, now I am getting an error with Beaver's Revenge when I try to open it, saying that "the application Beaver's Revenge (process com.TwistedGames.Beaverz) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." with the option to force close, but the window disappears after a few seconds, anyway.
I have tried uninstalling the game, reinstalling it, archiving it, unarchiving it, and it still gives me the same error message every time I open it.
Does anyone have any idea why a game that worked fine on an unrooted NT would stop working correctly after rooting, and if there is a way to get it to work again.
Any and all help and advice is welcome.
Thanks in advance.
Hi everyone, so recently I rooted my nook to the CM7. Everything seemed to work fine, till I noticed that I dont have a market (google Play) and when I go Dev tools, it wont let me login to google. It says : the application Dev Tools (process com.android, development) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.) I have tried over and over. and nothing. Also I tried to manually download the APK for the Market, and when i click on it it says the same thing the Dev Tools does for the google login. Someone please help me.

I think it would help because rooting is one thing and installing CM7 is another thing. But I think the most important thing to note is that when you install a new operating system, be it CM7 or CM9, google requires that the GAPPS ( package of Google applications ) must be separate from the OS. So it is always and I repeat always a double step when putting in the new OS. You would load in the operating system and then you would do an second load in of the GAPPS immediately after. Before rebooting. I think a utube video would be good to watch
Hello there,
First post on the site. Of course its about troubleshooting!!
On to the problem.
I have rooted my phone, installed Titanium back-up and got a little finger happy uninstalling apps and bloatware from my phone. I thought it was a good idea to uninstall the stock browser with android. Without thinking about it there are other stock apps and services that don't function properly now that I have removed the stock browser (ex. I can't open a any contacts information but I can get into the menu, some of the updating doesn't work properly).
Does anyone know where I can get an apk to re-install the browser to restore full use to the phone?
Thanks guys,
Nathan
Any fruitcake out there?
Not sure if the browser is responsible for all those problems, but here is mine, android 2.3.7. Just push it to /system/app or install it normally
Edit: here it is

You were right andresrivas. The browser installed without problems but it will not open. It says "The application Browser (processcom.android.browser) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again later." message. I get the same message when I try to view a contact inside of the contacts menu. None of the system apps will update either such as the Google Play app still shows as "Market" for example.
I am at a point now where I just want to find a way to reinstall the OS/firmware if its possible. I am not sure where to get a file to do something like that which will mesh with my current service provider "Bell Mobility". Anyone have any ideas?
I abolished trying to fix stock android and just flashed CM7. Everything is perfect now. Thanks for the help.
I have a Motorola Defy Plus(BL7). I had just rooted my phone. Then I had installed RootAppDelete and accidentally disabled a system app.
Now I keep on getting this "The application Home(process com.motorola.home) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" This keeps on popping as a loop each time I forceclosed this. So I am unable to go to RootAppDelete app and enable those system apps back again. I'm stuck in this loop. Could someone make a zip file for any launcher which I could install from Recovery. Please!!

For starters, why in the world would you remove the phones default launcher, smh. Rookie mistake, log in to a computer and use the PC play store to download a launcher to the phone and work from there.
