The answer you are looking for is in the cdma evo3d android development section bud.

****'ll Buff Out

You aren't being very clear as to what the problem is, what exactly you need help doing, which is probably why you got the response you did.

Don't install a CDMA recovery. Rogers is GSM.
Use a guide in the GSM section to root your phone and install recovery.

I'm just asking cause I'm a nubbin on a Rogers HTC EVO 3d gsm with LeeDroid kernel on Cobra's ROM.
I don't want to hijacked this thread but if someone were to go about putting the phone back to an entirely factory and 'untouched' state, is it even possible? I'm learning about phone modding quite quickly but find myself looking for definitive guides that explain what is layered on what (like is clockwork recovery is on the kernel layer or is it on the OS layer).

Dude, I'm not trying to be rude but three people answered you on your other thread about this same question. I don't know if it is because you are new, English is a second language or what. There isn't a forum out there anywhere that likes when users make double posts about the same topic from the same users.
Are you trying to install a custom recovery, or trying to say you already have root access and want to downgrade, I mean what are you trying to do? You won't be able to do what you want if your hboot is greater than or equal to 1.5
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1230
All the info you are going to find will be in that forum

I haz fone, it is broke...please fix.
Hey OP, a little bit more information would help:
GSM/CDMA?
HBOOT Version?
How did you get to where you are now?
Did you notice you posted this in the General Section and not the Q/A?
Have you tried flashing any ROM/Kernal?
Are you radios up to date?
A/S/L?
Thread moved to Q&A.
You can chose any rom you like and try it. Just make sure you're using the cdma or gsm version depending on your phone and follow all instructions, some are based on hboot 1.4 or 1.5. Just look in the development section, personally I run MikRunny.

Messages app won't open

I just updated my ROM to the Shooter Beats for GSM version and it's been running flawless except that I just noticed my messages app won't open at all. It just has the spinning circle. Is there any way to fix this, or do I have to go back to my old stock rom?
I've gone to settings, applications, messaging and went to clear the cache, but it was all greyed out.
Evo 3D GSM
S-Off
Sense 3.5
Not sure what other info you'd need.
If there's anything that I can do that can solve this can you please let me know?
Just you use a newer rom, with sense 3.6

Really? Something that simple?
The hard part is finding a good one haha. I'll try that and report back here.
Yes, newer roms tend to be updated more often, bugs reduced, I believe shooter beats is an older rom. Suggest you can try coolexe, predator 395, or kingcobra's rom. Factory reset, cache & dalvik must be cleaned before you flash any rom.

Ok, thanks, I'll look for one of those. Seems they are all a bit older as the new ones are geared to ICS which I'm not on. (Haven't figured out how to get it yet)
You are rooted, s-off? Recovery? And are you gsm . Then it's very easy to flash

Yes, s-off, 4ext recovery and yes GSM.
I looked for the ones you pointed out, and they are older version of sense.... 3.5 to 3.0 (unless I'm not seeing the right ones)
Here' s coolexe 3.6 rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671369
And here's all roms available for gsm evo http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1786578 Ok I see you are with rogers, so I suggest you use kingcobras rom as he has used the rogers ota ics as his base for his rom, apn are all provided
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using xda premium
Thanks, I didn't think I could load an ICS one on my phone because I'm still on 2.3.5.
I'll download it and give it a try
Use kingcobras rom first, his base is rogers ota, and it's no problem upgrading from gb

Ok, they are both downloading now.
Ok, just rebooting after putting on kingcobra, I'll come back tomorrow once all apps are back up and going.
Thanks for the help
Just follow the instructions, I believe you may have to update the firmware (pg86zip) and if you flash kingcobra make sure you pick sense 3.6 on first flash, read instructions, go leafs go

Already updated the firmware previously, that got me out of a bootloop (phew)
It's up and running, have to figure out a few things like notifications... there are none. I'm sure they are there somewhere, just a matter of finding them.
Go Flames Go!!
Notification can be found by pressing the 4 lined capacative symbol on the home dock and go to personalize, glad everything is working go leafs go, actually I wont route for the leafs until burke is shown the door, stupid american ego maniac

Yes, I did all 3.. seems to be running alright at the moment
You should be good to go now, takes sometime to get use to the changes from gb, but the improvements are nice, I have been running a sense 4 rom for about 3 months and really enjoy the improvements over gb
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using xda premium
ok, not seeing the notifications in the personalize.. only sounds
And another problem... in titanium backup, I'm trying to restore apps, but my "settings" is missing it says "The linked program is no longer installed on your phone" and I can't restore it because the phone is set to block non market apps. Vicious circle.

what I suppose to do with that ? can you send me a link or something im really confuse and try a lot of things that dont work
thanks for the fast response:good:
First of all, searching for the info you want will probably help you out. Second, research as much as possible so you don't mess up. And third, go to htcdev.com and follow directions. There is so much info in this forum to help you, and then if/when you're stuck, ask for help.
Down metal, don't make me grab the hose!
Use dans rooter in the original dev section, should work fine (rewag_lienad) then you'll need to install flashimageGUI.
Then read om4s guide in his SIG

Sorry, couldn't help myself. I didn't mean to come off like a total jerk, but that's how I sounded.

Go to Meanrom thread there is a link on how to root using HTC dev unlock its actually really simple it should take you to EVO Hacks website just be sure to download the latest twrp recovery when flashing thru fastboot or go to the dirty raccoon sense you are already stock and you can achieve soff saves a lot of headaches just follow there instructions word for word I actually used vista 32 bit even though they don't support it but it worked flawlessly.

S off or unlock bootloader

Hi guys,
Just to make sure, I have searched and googled but can't see the trees through the woods anymore... :screwy:
I like my 3d capabilities, I like sense 3.6 but I just want more control over my EVO and be able to flash some of the great stuff available here to improve my phone.
Do I need s off or unlocked bootloader? I have hboot 1680007 or similar, ics ..
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using xda app-developers app
U need unlock to flash other roms, gain root, etc
S-off is needed for kernels with aroma and non sense (aosp, aokp, miui, etc) roms, at least to flash them that easy as sense roms, because u would have to flash the kernel with adb without s-off...
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using xda app-developers app
Ok, so unlock will do fine for what I want.. with my hboot version, which is the easiest way to go and unlock?
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using xda app-developers app
If its enough for u to flash sense roms unlocking should do fine for you
Htcdev is one possibility to unlock, i dont know if there is another way for ur hboot, never saw that one
You have the official 4.0 update, or?
I think in that case Htcdev is the only way...
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using xda app-developers app
Yes, I have the latest update, either downgrade hboot or htcdev it is, I guess ... Thnx !

Thanks for the reference but the model in his signature is a GSM version so I think he would do better following one of the guides in the stickies of the GSM development forum.
ramjet73
oops my bad sorry gotta bad hangover
This is the guide you need. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1743466
I must ask, are you sure your hboot isn't 1.49 or 1.53? Those are the only two hboot versions I ever heard on gsm.
Anyway follow the unlock method through HTC dev. However the links for control bear on the guide are dead. Just go to unlimited.io website and get the control bear from the shooteru section based on os, hboot, and computer your using.
