[Q] Wireless Tether slow when screen off - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My tethering internet speed is dramatically slower using Wireless Tether when I turn the screen off (about 1/5 of the speed compared to when the screen on my phone is left on). I was wondering if this was normal, if theres a way to fix this, or if there are any other apps that will give me full speed even when the screen is turned off. It's annoying to have to keep the screen on and it drains the battery very fast. Also note that I don't have my CPU set to scale down when the screen is turned off.

Unchecked Disable wake/lock in settings you will be good to go.

[Q] Battery Drain?

I had my tab fully charged at 6am this morning, and now it is on 69%. I have been browsing the internet for an hour or two. Is this drain normal?
Yes its normal you have set your wifi policy to not to disconnect. If you want your battery not to drain fast go to settings than screen and check mark on Auto adjust screen power. Plus set the brightness to auto. Now change your wifi disconnect policy to disconnect when screen turns off. I had the same problem but after doing these changes the problem is solved. Please hit the thanks meter if I have helped you.

App to turn off data from lock screen

Is there something I can do to turn off data while my phone is in sleep mode then when I turn it on the data connection is restored or maybe a lock screen widget where I can manually toggle data on/off.
I tried Juice Defender but it seemed to drain my battery by 11% in 30 minutes! Since I uninstalled it the battery seems to be better without it.
I use Data enabler
Try "Green Power" from the market. Top results & very light!
Widetlocker + Widgetsoid?

[Q] Disable auto dim while charging/docked?

is this possible? and if so, how? i've tried a few apps from the market, but they didn't seem to work
Why? Do you hate your phone so much, you need a quick way to burn in the screen?
Actually, while it's in my car dock and I'm using google maps, or any music, it's hard to see the screen after it dims, esp. when driving with my convertible top down in the daytime.

Have you tried STAYAWAKE? Keeps screen on while plugged in to any source that charges.
the screen stays on already... but it still dims until i touch the screen again.
Use Tasker - it's more complicated than most apps, but it gives you tons more control over your phone too.
Just remember to both turn off auto-dim as well as turn your brightness up for the "plugged in" event or it won't work properly if you use tasker!
I have a setting for plugged and unplugged, as well as at home (in range of my wireless SSID) and away. So my GPS turns on when plugged in and away, but not plugged in at home. But my display is set up the way you want as well - and mine increases the display timeout too.

Screen always on in developer mode keeps turning off

I like my screen to always be on when I am charging the phone, mostly becuase I drive a lot and it sucks to have the screen go off when you are using google maps. I seem that I have to keep changing the "screen always on" in the developer mode section in settings. Has anyone else been able to make this change stick?
I definitely had that option checked when I set up my phone after flashing beans v3 but when I went to check just now it was not selected. I guess I have the issue too, apparently.
Update: I just restated my phone and the option is unchecked again. Definitely not sticking after reboot for some reason.

I use the app *My Settings Pro* to set the screen to never time out whenever I have the phone docked in my truck.
It stays on until I set the screen timeout to 30 seconds & put it in my pocket.
There is a free app in the market called "Screen On"
It allows you to set the screen to stay "Always On" by a per app basis
So for example you can only select Google Maps and the only time the screen will stay on is when you are in Google Maps, etc..
My phone has been doing this since day one after reboot stay awake is unchecked I just use tasker now.

It mildly annoying. I like the screen on when its charging so I can just glance for notifications without touching it, or in the car mount. I guess I can just use my NFC tags for now.
Just a suggestion, but you guys may want to be careful how long you keep your screen lit while charging.
I had my old G3 set to never go out while charging (it was on all night at times) and now it shows some nasty screen burn-in on any white screen (like the gmail background).
Any time it is on a white BG, you can clearly see a gost image of the home screen and the clock widget/icons etc.etc.
I have a similar issue. I set the checkbox to always on when connected via USB directly after setting up the phone for the first time and now it's always on is re-on when deselect it and go to the settings again afterwards.
Could it be some side effect / conflict caused by some powerful apps like "NFC task launcher" or something like that who can change settings as well as the settings dialogues?

Wifi turns off when screen is locked

Hi I just got my tablet z and the first thing i went to check out was the wifi so i noticed that the wifi radio turns off when i lock the screen for a while but then resumes right after i unlock it.. i changed the option in the wifi advanced settings to always keep the wifi on during sleep and it's not running stamina mode
am i the only one encountering this problem?
thanks!
Use Better Wifi On Off if you want more wifi management options.
Personally I prefer wifi to be turned off when screen turns off for battery drain.
I know I can use 3rd party apps
But I don't want this problem to plague my tablet
My nexus 4 rooted with faux and pa doesn't have this problem and even though it looks like the settings for keeping Wi-Fi enabled even when the screen is locked is right the Wi-Fi still turns off after a while with the screen locked which shouldn't be happening if I'm not mistaken
