I'm afraid I already know the answer but I'll try anyway. I tried to root my Dell Streak 5 and now it hangs on the Dell logo when it boots. I'm unable to boot into recovery (both volume keys and power) or fastboot (camera key and power). When I connect it to the PC Windows recognizes it as Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM. Does anyone know of anyway to recover it?

It's amazing that the number of people keep on saying they bricked their Dell Streak, let me say that it's virtually impossible to brick your streak beyond recovering!

Thanks, at least I know all hope is not lost. The trouble I have is EVERY guide I've managed to find includes the instructions to either place the phone in recovery mode or fastboot mode. I can press the camera key and power key for as long as I want but it's still stuck on the Dell logo. I'll continue to search for a guide that explains how to fix this.

Thanks a lot awexdasome! While I was PMing you I googled the error message that I received when I ran into a streak of good luck, no pun intended. I bumped into this thread http://forum.pocketables.net/showthread.php?t=9014 which told me to use the streakflash version of QDL and my phone now boots into Android!
No more worry about bricking your Dell Streak ever again, nice one.
I followed everything in this thread and the one linked. Streakflash seems to work and ends up successful but when I go to the regular QDL. It says Waiting for ADB Device then fails at like 41 seconds. The Streak stays on with just the backlight on and buttons. I can not go into fastboot mode nor Recovery. Any help would be great. my thinking is I might have to send it out to someone with the JTAG box but if I can get this done in my house that would be great!

Actually, I only did the Streakflash. I checked to see if it worked after that and my phone booted into android so I decided not to try my luck and didn't do the regular QDL.

Hi everyone, i need ur help please. I have a t-mobile vibrant (sgh-t959). I tried the CM on it. After installing the su kernel, it bricked. Now it keeps rebooting with the samsung galaxy s gt-I9000 screen (the vibrant screen no longer comes up). I can't even get to download mode by pressing vol up + vol down + pwr buttons. Please help me. I m kinda desperate ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=836815&page=6
Although I didn't have the exact same problem, I had a very similar problem. The above link will give you more details about the problem I was having and how I solved it (thanks to click1's suggestion).
I could not get into download mode no matter what sequence of keys I pressed and my phone hanged on the "samsung vibrant" screen. IF your phone is detected by Odin or the computer when you plug it in (doesn't have to be in download mode and your computer doesn't have to be able to show you the usb drives - just as long as there is a confirmation that a usb was connected is enough), then Android SDK will help you force the phone into download mode.
If this doesn't work, your next bet is to physically make a JIG for it:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819551
From what I have read, this last one physically forces the phone to go into download mode by using the 5th pin on the MicroUSB key.
I know how you feel - I just got my fixed last night and my problem seemed very unique, I wish I could offer more help but I hope these will work for you.
Thank you very much. It finally came back to life. Feel so much better now!
downnload mode, I hold both volume buttons in and connect the usb and it I get into download mode everytime

No problem, I'm glad that solved your problem. I'll see if I can put this solution on the Noob guide so others can see it easily before they resort to making a JIG.

the newer vibrants are hardware locked so you can't get into download mode that way. This is why you have to use the SDK to do it.

okay found a solution for now, my issue was related to ROM manager with the SD card, kept getting wrong MD5 Sum!! Really pissed me off about this since I was running through ODIN correctly,
Solution...
Updated the rom with Eugene froyo!! This brought me out of boot looping and now I have a rom on my phone so I can go back to the basics of flashing I hope, I am going to give it a try to see what happens

No...being the noob that I am, I'm constantly finding new ways to brick my phone. So tonight, I bricked it with the phone to PC screen. ADB can't detect it and neither can odin. This is FIXABLE, I tried the method here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=771247
Method 3 worked for me. Even if you have a hardware locked phone, I think there is a method around this which involves taking the battery out and putting it back in but I don't remember where I read this in the forums....I know I did read it though, you have to search to find it. Try these before you resort to making the JIG.
Hello, i have streak 2.2 locked to uk o2 in bangladesh. to unlock it i tried a sofware from dellstreakunlock.com, but in the process something was wrong from my side. suddenly i noticed my IMEI no has been changed; so i tried to restore it to its factory setting by pressing vol UP + Down & pwr ON. dell logo passed & below msgs shown,,
"factory reset start, pleas wait
wait for reboot"
now again & again dell logo passed, above messgs shows, & rebooting one after another. I tried to go to fastboot mode by Camera button + Pwr button but fastboot is not starting.
Please help as i am new to this...

No Streakflash
Does anyone have a good copy of streakflash? The zips from DJ's site are corrupt, at least that's what my machine (32-bit XP) is telling me when trying to extract.
Like this post, my phone is bricked, stuck at Dell logo, no recovery options pressing either volume keys or camera. Newer QDL tool fails at ADB step because my computer doesn't see the hardware.
Looking to try StreakFlash and/or older QDL tool, but can't find them.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Thanks Marvin, I'd seen and tried those links, which were good links. Unfortunately, Google Chrome didn't like the zip downloads. Once I used IE8, I was able to get good zip files.
Thanks all.

OK. Post some more info here, and in will try to get someone to help. maybe we can get your post count high enough.
ADB detects the phone, installed the drivers on OMAP 4430.
I tried it on Ubuntu, if you type the command "adb reboot oem-unlock" it was the same as on Windows 7
Already did it,
I have uploaded the new ROM V20B and restored the factory settings, the bootloader unlocked.
Thank you for your help

Which variant you have? P765 / P760 / P768 / P778? Which country rom you tried, etc.
Always provide all the information in first request so people will start thinking what might have happened? This phone is really bit difficult due to various variants and rom+hardware non-compatibilities.
Kevev just PM'ed me that myju figured out the problem. And I told him this in PM...May be this is not the case here, but this generally happens. He he he
@kevev, Do you know, when there is a silly question from noobs, leave it for some time without answering. And they get impatient and frustrated and they start reading the whole OP carefully and do things in right way. lolz experienced many a times and always worked. ha ha ha
hello, i hope i am posting in the right thread. You need to do the online recovery option with LG PC suite, put the phone in S/W upgrade mode. Turn off then plug in USB with 'Vol Up' held. Then use PC suite, and click on Recovery Phone Mode or something and it should flash full stock on your phone, you may have to format data if the phone doesn't boot after the update (Vol Down + Home + Power)

Hey thanks for your reply. I appreciate your help. I am unable to boot into S/W upgrade mode because the phone has no software on it, powers on to a black screen without a bootloader. I was hoping that someone might be able to tell me what I'd need to copy to the various partitions on the phone to get it back in working condition - at least enough to get it back to stock. I can get the phone to power on and boot into fastboot and I've played around trying to copy bootloaders and stuff to the phone but I must not be either doing it right or getting the right software for the correct phone. I accidently flashed the phone with the wrong software and through many mistakes ended up wiping all of the partitions on the phone...perhaps some kind person here might be able to provide the images i'd need and how to use fastboot to copy them to the phone, I'd truly appreciate the help as this is my only phone and been without it for a couple days (won't be trying to flash firmwares again if i can get the phone back up and working) much thanks

I noticed a thread on how to restore a Nexus 7 through fastboot, and was hoping a similar method would work for the LG but can't find an image of the phone that will work with fastboot
If you're talking about what I think you are, you need to fastboot flash u-boot, x-loader, and recovery via fastboot. You can't do system via fastboot because the file size it too big. I ran into that problem once by accidentally flashing wrong u-boot and then erasing all partitions out of frustration. I don't think recovery Idk 100% necessary as long as you can boot into s/w update mode, which I believe is intertwined somewhere in the u-boot or x-loader.
Once you get the phone to load inti s/w mode, you're set to flash kdz.

Hi all... Ok, a "friend" of mine got ahold of my L9 and decided to do me a favor and root it... 5 hours later he is gone, and I find myself with a backwards mirrored screen, a digitizer that is all wonky, and a retty much unusable hone at this point. I did some reading but it sounded like this is an old issue, I am at a loss, can anyone steer me towards a solution that isn't absolutely painful, or involve holding the hone up to a mirror?? I'll start from scratch, can I just odin-flash it or something?
please help, any advice is greatly appreciated.

My best advice is to download LgMobile support tool, install it, open and connect your phone in the S/W upgrade mode (shut it down, keep pressing vol+ while inserting usb cable), wait a minute to recognise the device, then click Options and you ll find Upgrade Recovery and click it.
This will get you back to your original Rom. Now you wait like 15 min, and you re done, hope it works for you.

I'm in exactly the same situation, but self inflicted. I did however try to use the LG support tool and update recovery. The process completed, but the touchscreen was still messed up.
While I could try and fix it if I had root, I can't root because adb is not working. No matter what I do it never starts.
Does the recovery overwrite the x-loader and u-boot partitions?
ADB was working when I started today, but after I went bonkers on fastboot erase (http://www.saboteaur.com/post/65807202059/p769-fastboot-from-linux) no more adb...
Are any of those partitions that I erased critical / would possible cause the problem?
Worst part it, it's not my phone (grandma's). Should I just take it back to the store and beg for a replacement?

x-loader and u-boot don't get overwritten by recovery. Apparently you've managed to either remove the adbd daemon from the device or USB debugging isn't enabled on it. If you can boot the device you can install the L9RecoveryInstaller.apk and install the bootstrapped CWM. Then reboot to CWM, Vol down when keys flash, as CWM has USB debugging enabled. Now use ADB to fix your device.

I'm afraid I made of hard bricked my note 3 ( yes I know this may be hard to do)... I tried installing clockwork mod and rooting my N900-Canadian Version. I am now a continuous loop in which my phone is trying to continuously go into boot mode not the actual startup screen. ODIN is not detecting it because it's not starting up. I cant put it into any other mode either. What do I do?

i think your device have been soft brick, just with boot loop or loop on recovery, if you use philz's recovery version, you can flash a zip file to resolve the end of this problem, i don't know what recovery version that you're using. Now, you must take your device return the time you begin with the tools like kdz tool, or flash tool on lg devices.
