2.3.4 XWK14 (CPW UK) question - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i have installed PDA:XWKI4 -PHONE: XXKI1 - Android 2.3.4 (CPW UK) from the link on the android development sub forum , installed it over my original o2 branded 2.3.3. my CSC is i9100XEUKH2 (Kies states it as KH2 (O2U)
all is working great, but was wondering a couple of things:
is the above firmware i flashed, the generic 2.3.4 Carphone Warehouse firmware that they have on their S2's?
my phone can't find a new 2.3.5 update, plus kies says "this version of the device cannot be updated. is there an update available from CPW yet, and if so, is my CSC stopping me from receiving it?
thank you

[Q] CSC issue after ROM upgrade

Hi,
I'm new to Android and Galaxy S2. My phone was purchased in Spain from Vodafone.
I have just upgraded my ROM as per Intratech's guide (thanks by the way for the nice gude). The upgrade went good but after upgrae Kies shows the old CSC and says it can't update. Is this expected? I thought the CSC was supposed to change to the generic one.
I used ROM XWKE7 from the guide. After upgrade I get the following:
Doing *#1234#, I get:
PDA: I9100XWKE7
PHONE: I9100XXKE4
CSC: I9100XEUKD1
Doing *#272*<your IMEI>#, I get
ATL
In Kies it shows:
PDA: KE7 / PHONE: KE4 / CSC:KD1(ATL)
- Can someone please clarify?
- I'd also like to know if after this I still have to do something else to unlock the phone to use with a different provider.
- I was hoping to leave the phone as unbranded so future updates will be picked up through Kies.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks very much for this info. At the end I did a factory reset after updating and now phone shows XEU as expected.

[Q] Debranding, confused which firmware to use

I bought a SGII off ebay and after a few hours of reading I'm totally confused about how to debrand the phone. The original owner received the phone from Vodafone Ireland and rooted it to unlock it. Below are the phone specs
Android- 2.3.3
Baseband version- I9100BUKG1
Kernel-2.6.35.7-I9100XWKE2-CL187606 root-DELL101#2
Build- GINGERBREAD.BUKG2
I just want to get rid of all the vodafone software and other bloatware. Im not interested in rooting the phone.
From my research I should go for the latest XEU firmware (Im in Malta, Europe) which is XWKF3
GT-I9100_XEU_I9100XWKF3_I9100XXKE7_I9100XEUKD1
Is this correct? It seems older than what I have.. I dont mind, like I said I just want to debrand without ending up bricking the device. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any stock rom removes branded stuff .

Thanks JJEgan, and just to confirm, the only downside to using these Franenstein builds is that I cannot use Kies to upgrade the firmware?
I just installed the firmware below as advised but I'm still seeing all the Vodafone bloatware. Everything went perfectly s described in the official thread. Did I do something wrong?
Factory reset your phone .
Phone should now be
PDA:XXKG6| Baseband : XXKG6| CSC:XEUKD1

Thanks, that worked perfectly!

[Q] I have the XWKI4 (2.3.4) and kies says that its that latest firmware available

Hi,
A few days ago I've unlocked and debranded my sgs2, flashed with odin the XWKI4 (2.3.4) firmware..
Today I saw on samfirmware that there exist a I9100XWKI8 (2.3.5) available..
I want to avoid odin (as I don't want a factory reset), so I connected my phone to kies, but Kies says that my version is the last one available..
Can anyone explain me why kies says that there is no update available for me?
Thanks
Btw, my phone info:
PDA: I9100XWKI4
PHONE: I9100XXKI1
CSC: I9100XEUKH2
In the same frigin pool m8...
hmm not many options.
For your region, that is the latest available.
Roll out of upgrades is not universal, it comes in spurts and dabs, with upgrades usually months behind the current version available.
Currently latest unofficial firmware out is KJ3.

Galaxy S II CSC differencies

Hello
I have unbranded Galaxy S II, with CSC "XEU".
Latest upgrade through Kies I had at September, and now firmware is:
Europe XEU - I9100XWKI4 / I9100XEUKH2 (Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread)
Since than no more updates were available in Kies...
Does anybody know if this will change?
I see Europe firmwares for CSC "OXA", but for this I should probably first use Odin to change firmware.
What is difference between "XEU" and "OXA" in general?

You get updates when you get them is the simple answer .

YES

XEU = UK
OXA = Poland

They are just region codes.
CSC's just have APN settings and maybe some operator specific apps, any region specific rom will work anywhere in the world.
Hi
Is there general CSC for Europe?
If:
"XEU = UK; OXA = Poland"
Than really there is no new update for UK?
2.3.4 is letest Android?
somehow funny

Can someone confirm, that unbranded SGSII from UK has latest Androind 2.3.4?
Nothing I'm complaining about, its really stable and working OK.
But little sorrow there were updates for other CSC...
Btw, how to change CSC when multi-csc is not installed (*#727*IMEI# is displaying XEU only, is not accepting OXA)

CSC is not the update path .Product code is .

Flash a CSC from the stock roms and CSC thread .
CSC IS country specific settings a few files that give local networks details and settings and is not even required for a phone to work .

[Q] Product Code and firmware mismatch.

I've been reading many threads with a problem similar to mine, but I think my problem is more complicated.
My phone was unlocked and debranded when I first bought it. The product code used to be (TTT)-trinidad and tobago. Someone from the technical service messed with the firmwares and changed it to this:
AP: I9300XXELLA
CP: I9300BOLK3
CSC: I9300CROLL1
This firwmare appears to be a branded croatian T-mobile. To debrand it, I used the option "Upgrade and initialisation" on Kies. After that the firmware changed to an earlier version but the product code was still CRO even though I changed the firmware. KIES didnt support this firmware, so I installed the previous firmware the one that I put on the beginning of this post (this time using ODIN).
The problem here is, that when I connect to KIES now, I get the same message: Your device's current firmware version is not supported to update via Kies only this time the firmware that appears on Kies is as follows:
Current firmware: PDA:LLA / PHONE:LK3 / CSC:LL1 (TTT)
>>>so to sum it up, it shows TTT when I install croatian firmware, and CRO when I install Trinidad and Tobago firmware
Can someone please tell me what is going on here? Which firmware do I actually have, and how can I match all these stuff , so I can upgrade firmwares in the future via Kies or OTA. My current firmware is AP: UBEMA1, CP:UBELL1, CSC: UUBELL1, while checkfus shows the product code as GT-I9300MBLCRO. Should I keep this firmware or better yet install a european one. I live in Macedonia (Europe)
I'm sorry about this long post but I'm really confused. Thank you for your time
Please delete this thread. Thank you
