Take a look at the pic, the blue highlighted files are the main ones I am talking about. What files do I have that I shouldn't cause either they are outdated or obsolete. The highlighted ones are the files I use to take my phone back factory "like" conditions. Are there later versions of the files I have the will help?

PIT and tar are fine. You are using the wrong version of Odin. You MUST use version 1.3, nothing higher and nothing lower.

Why is this? I've used version 1.7 for months now and it seems that it works just fine...?

CWM-Recovery_all

Has anyone tried Odin flashing cwm-recovery-all.zip?
It was designed to work on many phones but also integrates voodoo for those kernels that can use it.
I don't see why it wouldn't work but I am no development and without a recovery image available from sanding I don't want to kill my player.

Could you give me a link of what you are talking about? never heard of it before, bit I would be willing to try it.
i just checked the sdcard on my mesmerize and i was incorrect, the name is cwm-recovery-all.zip - you can also google that and get tons of download links from places like mediafire.
it is CWM or Odin flashable.
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/sa...-clockworkmod-all-roms-updated-3-30-11-a.html
it was actually found here but here is a link for another place that has a link for both cwm flash and odin flash versions.
frankly i have not even seen anyone post how to get into recovery or how to get into download mode...
but of course adb should easily be able to do both.
Sorry, I'm still a bit of a noob to android, How would I flash this? You say you can flash it using cwm but isn't that what we are trying to get on? I have no idea how to use Odin and would appreciate help.
Edit; where do I even download Odin?
Could I just do this manually with root explorer? looking inside the zip it seems possible, but would I have to do anything with the "META_INF" or "kernal_update" folders, or are they only for flashing?

nope no manual install. its a flash.
and google is your friend dude.
just look for something like Odin 1.3 or higher.
but i use 1.3 because i have a Galaxy S 1 phone. (samsung mesmerize)
and i am gunna warn you, there is a good chance this will brick your Player.
and since Samsung doesnt offer a firmware download, you are screwed. i dont think even Kies would be able to fix it.
downlaod the cwm-recovery-all.zip (or you may download a tar file i forget
unzip it, and inside is cwm-recovery-all.tar inside of it is recovery.bin. (dont unpack the tar file.
odin is easy. just put your phone into download mode. (via adb - adb reboot download )
plug it into your pc.
open odin - it should say something is recognized or added (meaning your phone.)
click pda and choose the cw-recovery-all.tar
then click start.
once again you could easily kill your Player by doing this. - atleast until someone figures out how to
but if I do brick, can I use a backup rom to fix it, or will this screw recovery mode= no possible fix?
Edit; looking at that thread, it seems this is for 2.2, I have 2.3.5, I think that is a good reason for me not to try this, sorry! I'm chickening out.

yeah but it works fine on my mesmerize and it uses 2.3.4
best case is it says failed when Odin tries to flash it.
and where you going to get a backup rom ? does Kies do some sort of full back up ?

It seems to fail at recovery.bin, maybe mine is corrupted.
If someone could post theirs for a 4.0 u.s. version, I would appreciate it!

for above problem.. i managed to flash back to my stock rom.
1. download your stock rom from samfirmware (2.2/TTT version in my case)
2. download odin3 1.85.
3. flash using pda button
worked for me.
ps. i had mine bricked due to checking partition box, using above method fixed it.
Last time I checked, samfirmware didn't have it for U.S.
Also were you able to get yours into download mode, if so how?
Also about my post above, I just mean the recovery.bin file, not whole rom.

I don't know exactly what you mean, but I backed up; system, kernal, and recovery. I put these int a .tar.md5 file with cygwin, and when flashing with odin it fails as it gets to "recovery.bin" wich leads me to believe that is the problem.

Stock Firmware for i777

Hi everyone I am somewhat new here, I am looking for the stock firmware for the SGS2 I777 from At&t. It should have 3 tar files that is flashable by using Odin, or perhaps a similar method with same result.
Basically I flashed international firmware I9100XWKDF using 3 tar.md5 files in the zip and it was the only thing that fixed my boot loop problem. However the display brightness is too intense even at lowest setting, the sharpness is too high causing pixelation, also the color is faded and mixed with brown almost 16-bit color like. Now I want to return to the original stock firmware for the I777, I think this will fix the color issues. But I do not know what the stock firmware is named, I've seen a few files here and there such as UCKJ but I don't want to brick my phone so any help would be much appreciated. I've written more details in the next paragraph to clarify if needed.
I'll try my best to keep this short. The reason I need this is because I had a boot loop problem a few days back. This came out of nowhere I've been using this rooted phone with cognition 777 ROM for 4-5 months with no problem. So I went to CWM to restore from my backup but the boot loop was still there. I tried a clean flash after wiping data/factory reset, cache/ delvik, etc... and reflashing different kernels, nothing worked. Out of desperation I used Odin 1.85 to flash PIT using the default PIT file that comes with Odin, somehow that worked and I was able to boot up into MIUI but no signal. So I reflashed again and boot loop returned, this time not even flashing Odin's PIT or using the stock i777 PIT worked. I looked around and saw a post on how boot loop was fixed by flashing 3 tar.md5 files using odin from this I9100XWKDF firmware. I tried it, at first it still bootloops and I was unable to get into download mode using the power+both volume button method. Out of sheer luck I decided to just hold the power+down volume button and it worked. Then I flashed a new kernel again to see what will happen, upon reboot everything worked again. Even restore worked and everything was back to normal. But I noticed that the display is very bright and the colors are faded and has brown mix into it. If it was not for the display side effect I would have never known that I used the wrong firmware for the International version. However 3d gaming runs smoothly it is just the color that is messed up.
A cookie for whoever made it this far lol.

[Q] Phone, Triangle, PC Logo

Hi!
I've got an SGS2 (i9100) and i tried to update firmware using Kies 2.0 which i installed and downloaded for the first time today.
During the upgrade something happened and all i get on the phone now is the logo i've described.
Kies is trying to do "emergency recovery" and is just sitting at 0% so i'm not sure what that's doing.
I've tried ODIN which seems to pick up the phone on COM4 so i downloaded the I9100XXKI3 file from this thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1449771
and clicked on start and it gets to zImage and just sits there, i'm not sure if it's doing anything but i left it for 30 minutes and nothing happened.
I've also tried OneClickUnbrick from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1153310
and that can't find the phone.
I can get into ODIN mode on the phone (I think that's recovery) by doing volume down, bottom button and power on.
Anyone got any ideas above what i'm trying?
I think i should be able to get hold of a jig/jtag cable beyond that no idea!
Fixed!
Downloaded the latest ODIN
Downloaded the GT-I9100_XEU_I9100XWKI4_I9100XEUKH2_I9100XXKI1.tar.md5
Plugged into my work PC which didn't have Kies and it also had a different USB cable (that might have mattered)
Swapped the battery for a fully charged one (the original was on 14%!!)
Phone was off and then plugged into the PC
Let the drivers install
Ran ODIN
ODIN picked up the phone (yellow box)
Only selected PDA and located the above tar.md5
clicked on start
*stuff happened*
got a progress bar on the phone
rebooted
it went into a recovery mode and cleared cache and some other stuff automatically.
rebooted
took about 5mins to boot up
bingo!
Hope this helps anyone else with the same problem.
Try different USB ports (must use a powered/mainboard port), different USB cables (particularly the cable that came with the phone), different versions of Odin (search for them), redownload the package you were trying to flash and test the package with 7Zip, IZarc, WinRar or similar to ensure there are no damaged files in it.
If those don't work, try another PC.
If you can get into download mode & Odin recognises the phone (yellow in COM panel), you can almost always save it.
Thanks MistahBungle.
Shall i forget using Kies then?
As this phone doesn't need to be rooted and do you think the data on the phone is gone now or if i manage to reflash something it was just upgrade what's there?
thing is i can't remember what version it was trying to upgrade to. i know it was on 2.3.5 which i think is XXKI3.
I seem to remember the battery was pretty low as well, can that cause a problem?
If u had ur phones drivers properly installed on ur pc, u can dl a program called Heimdall one click unbrick. Look up how 2 use it on YouTube. Works great with any Android device that gets the "phone-triangle-pc" screen.
Sent from my Rooted samsung-SGH-I727 using XDA
Yeah Kies is rubbish. Bin it. Also, when you're using Odin, check Windoze task manager & make doubly absolutely 100000% sure that Kies & any of it's processes are not running. If they are, kill them. You need the drivers that come with Kies to use Odin, but Kies & Odin running at the same time does not work.
Unless the stock rom you flash specifically wipes, you might retain your data (I hope you made regular backups).
Yeah low battery could easily cause a flash to barf.

Thank you again!
Is there version of the stock firmware you know that won't wipe.
From what i can tell if i tick repartition and provide a pit file then this will dump everything so maybe if i can not apply those then in theory that won't wipe anything? i'm not sure if that's accurate logic.
I've downloaded this:
GT-I9100_XEU_I9100XWKI4_I9100XEUKH2_I9100XXKI1
and i'm downloading
I9100XXKI3.rar
I'm slightly worried about grabbing the right PIT file as i've seen people flash the one for a G version or plain 9100 on the wrong version and it's bricked the phone.
I know the one i'm trying to repair is just I9100 (that's what it says behind the battery and in ODIN mode).
I'm more of a Galaxy Nexus abuser so the the SGS2 stuff is new territory.
it also doesn't help that majority of stuff i've been finding used to be on some file sharing sites and they've either had the site shut down and panic'd and now only allowing downloads unless you own the account!
Do not tick repartition or touch anything to do with PIT !
Clear ? Good.
If you use firmware download from links on XDA there will be only one file which you flash in PDA section of Odin, no need to touch PIT. Ever.

You've saved me from divorce!
Now i just need to look at doing ICS... after i've fully charged the phone!
Hahaha Hmmmm. Is that a good or bad thing tho ?
So far as ICS is concerned, I've tried Miui V4 which is ****e & needs a lot of work. I tried CM9 about two weeks ago & it was fantastic considering how little they've had to work with, and I'm just about to try the 20 March build of CM9 now. Looking at the discussion thread, they've made a fair bit of progress since I tried it previously.
Obviously there are other ICS variants out there & quite a few stock ICS roms floating around. As always, do your homework/research first, make sure you fully understand whatever it is you're wanting to do to your phone, always check downloads (large ones anyways) to ensure they're not corrupt & you should be fine

As the phone is an unbranded one (not fixed to a network) from what i've read there isn't a UK unbranded one yet, i was toying with the idea of doing I9100XXLPQ but i might let the dust settle depending on what i read throughout the day

UCLF6 Firmware.exe

It seems to me that everyone thinks that by installing/flasing a ROM, you getthe newest "firmware" on your phone.
this is not true, and it's getting aggravating. Your "firmware" and you "os/Rom" are two completely different things.
The firmware file is an actual .exe file that you execute via odin.
On your PC, double-click SGH-I717UCLF5_478C4F494FE1D8194C6BD7758C972351.exe to run Odin.
Turn off your phone.
Reboot your phone to Download Mode. To do that, press the Power and Volume Down keys of your phone until you see “Warning!!” displayed on the screen. Press the Volume Up key to continue into Download Mode.
Connect your phone to the computer via USB cable.
Odin will automatically recognize your phone and will display an “Added” displayed in the message box on the Odin window.
If you don’t see one, you may have to re-install the drivers.
Also try to use the USB port at the back of your computer’s CPU if your phone is not detected.
In Odin, click the Start button to proceed with flashing the UCLF5 firmware on your phone.
The flashing will take a few minutes and when it’s done your phone will automatically reboot. When you see the Samsung logo, it indicates that you can now safely unplug your phone from the PC. You will also see a “PASS” message on the upper left of the Odin window which means that the flashing is successful.
However, if Odin gets stuck or you get a “FAIL” message, you just have to disconnect your phone from the PC, close the Odin window, remove and reinsert your phone’s battery, and start from step 1 again.
Hurray! You have just installed the leaked Android 4.0 ICS build UCLF5 firmware on the AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note SGH-I717.
Case in point. now....
Just because you have ICS 4.0.4 OS/ROM/whatever you make, it does not mean you have the latest firmware. Nobody really seems to understand that.
I have the At&t galaxy note and I'm currently using UCLF5 firmware, with ICS 4.0.4, (CM 9 ROM) that was installed via Clockwork Recovery Mod.
People also seem to think that by installing the stock rom that at&t put out via odin, EX:I717UCLF6_I717ATTLF6_I717UCLF6_HOME.tar.md5, it somehow puts the firmware on your phone. This is untrue. As I've said earlier, a firmware update via odin is done through an .exe file. EX:I717UCLF5_478C4F494FE1D8194C6BD7758C972351.exe
Now, my question is.... Has anybody found the .exe firmware file (UCLF6) for the at&t note yet? I have yet to find it.
You joking right?
The exe file is most likely a virus. I didn't even care to check. This thread's been reported
I have ran UCLE 5 (sucked), UCLE 3, UCLE 2 and now UCLF 6 the latest and official one. They seem like updates/upgrades to me.
That link downloaded something to my computer and now its running slow !! what happened ?? :silly:
There is no virus, thanks for implying that though. It's just a post with pain text.

Odin updates contain all of the firmware. Recovery, kernel, modem, operating system.
Many ROMs contain kernel, and modem, along with operating system. ROM is not even really the right term, just a carryover from older technology that really was read only memory. So analyzing its usage is fairly silly anyways. If anything, the various ROMs seem more akin to distributions of Android, at least the main powerhouses (cm, aokp, etc).
Seeing how worthless stock recovery is, we can say having CWMR or TWRP installed constitutes having a later and greater portion of firmware installed.
As far as the note i717 goes f6/4.0.4 is the latest official version. After that there's nothing official.
What's the point of all this anyways? Why would I need an exe file for my Linux based handset anyways. Cornfused.
BANANA!
What you are describing is a one-click Odin file. That is not how the official release is distributed.
The official firmware update for AT&T is done with Kies and not Odin. Kies is an officially released public-use software designed to interface with Samsung phones at the end user level. Odin is leaked software that is for internal Samsung employees. We're not even supposed to be using Odin as end users.
There are ROMs based on every version of official and leaked releases for the Note. There are also ROMs but from CM9 and AOKP source.
ICS 4.0.4 UCLF6 is the official release from Samsung for AT&T and you can only get the 100% official stock firmware from Kies. Everything else had been touched by a developer in some way, even if it's just repackaging it as an Odin one-click or CWM flashbacks file.
I just bought a windows tablet, it' preloaded with windows 7.
should I install it again with windows7.exe to get the official one? haha

I'm sorry but does a similar version of april fools day excists and I don't know anything about it??
firmware and OS/ROM are not the same? WTH !!!!!
Yes firmware and OS/ROM is the same thing, and the latest firmware is not a dumb .exe (executable) file which the purpose of a .exe is to start a process for you and add install said firmware.
Just so you know if you were to unpack a one click firmware .exe, a odin tar and a rom zip, the files are all the same, except from the odin stock files are ext4 format and the ones on a zip are not, and yes if your phone says android 4.0.4 and uclf6 that is the latest version of such firmware.
further more installing .tar thru odin does install new firmware, if you look at the file names you added here:
EX:I717UCLF6_I717ATTLF6_I717UCLF6_HOME.tar.md5
EX:I717UCLF5_478C4F494FE1D8194C6BD7758C972351.exe
if you examine the file names same initial code, except i7171uclf5 is the last leak and i717uclf6 is the final official release.
now the rest of the code on the tar file is from the internal files, ending with an md5, and your exe's 478C4F494FE1D8194C6BD7758C972351 is the md5 checksum.
I'm still having my morning coffee so I'm not going to start flaming anyone but you might want to get your information straight before coming here and posting stuff like this , and avoid people reporting anything.
And one last thing even after AT&T and Samsung stop putting out firmware updates , we will always have the latest firmware because the awesome devs here make firmware updates straight from the android source code, the same source that Samsung uses to make AT&T firmware, so yes we will always have the latest firmware and not from a dumb .exe.
it baffles me how one can come on a development forum such as XDA and post non sense like this .
do you know what an exe is ?
to keep it simple its an executable that will unpack itself and run stuff automatically .
have you ever unpacked a samsung one ?
have you compared it s content to a 'tar.md5' as you call it ?
well I have and ill tell you:
the exe is nothing else then odin and a tar.md5 packed together .
FYI the exe are not executed via odin they ARE ODIN , the tar.md5 on the other end need to be flashed via odin .
and fyi , these EXE are not official you can not download them from any 'official source' they are ALWAYS leaked stuff .
ignorance is nothing to be ashamed of but spreading it ....
lol thank you well put dA

[ROM][ODIN][OC] SM-G900P NI3 (Modem/Kernel/Bootloader/ROM - Full Restore - Unrooted)

First, thank you to the anonymous source who provided us with this build and thank you to @garwynn for posting it here.
This Odin One-Click.exe contains the Stock NI3 Bootloader, Kernel, Modem and ROM for the Sprint Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G900P). Yes, that means this comes with the full Knox Bootloader.
There has been no change to the ROM from the initial build released by Samsung.
This will NOT trigger the Yellow Triangle NOR will it increment the Odin flash count.
This one-click resets your whole phone to the stock NI3 experience, similar to a factory restore and it may wipe all data. It also contains the full bootloader and Knox.
Instructions:
1: Backup anything important and Disable any PINs.
During this process your phone's software will be returned to the Stock setup. All system data will be lost. To be safe, it is best to archive your backup off your phone, ie on your PC or Dropbox.
2: Install Samsung USB/Android drivers (if necessary).
Samsung Drivers Download Link
3: Download the NI3 Stock ROM One-Click.
http://www.rwilco12.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=938 (Resets user data)
4: Unzip One-Click ROM using 7zip (this package is a self-extracting exe you should just be able to double-click on it after download and it will do the rest).
5: Start the Odin One-Click.
Navigate to the location where the SM-G900P_NI3_Stock_Unrooted.exe was saved upon extract from the 7Zip archive.
Double-click on SM-G900P_NI3_Stock_Unrooted.exe. *On Vista or newer, you may need to right-click on the file and select Run as Administrator.
6: Place phone in Download Mode.
- Power phone completely off.
- Press and hold Volume Down, Home and Power buttons, all at the same time.
- Release the buttons only when the ‘Warning!!’ message appears.
- Press [Volume Up] to enter Download mode.
7: Connect USB cable to PC and phone.
Odin should show a yellow COM port in the second column. If you do not see a yellow COM port, you may need to run the Odin One-Click as Administrator and/or unplug/plugin the USB cable after starting Odin One-Click.
8: Start Odin flash process.
Press [Start].
9: Complete - PASS!
Status should change to green PASS! At this point your phone should automatically reboot.
The boot process will take slightly longer than usual during which time you'll see the Sprint 4G/Spark logo screen.
Congratulations! You've flashed the Factory Restore NI3 build!

Been doing a lot of reading/research as I'm new to the Samsung game. But I've been every else besides Sony. I read your unpack tutorial on your website, and jumped all over reading unpacking how-to's. Seems to me the recommended an easiest way to create a "no-wipe" package is via SplitFUS2. Most of what I've read is for older devices, and I was wondering if that's the way you recommend doing it, and if you know whether or not it works with S5 packages?
Will normal root process work on it. I'm tempted to do it only cause I want the modem

Chainfire's autoroot does work but I don't believe Towelroot does.

My guess is you're referring to my tutorials on how to build your own flashable TAR?
Honestly I've never used the SplitFUS2 utility so I can't give you a 100% answer there. However, what I can tell you is that Samsung devices use one of two methods to wipe a device when flashing a TAR. Generally the method involves wiping a partition and overwriting it with a partition file included in the TAR. There are several different partitions and each of them governs a different aspect of the device's functionality. There is generally a specific file that governs the data partition, once you extract the TAR you would then recompile it without the data partition file and flash the final resulting TAR.
The other is script based and that area I'm not an expert on. My BFF @garwynn is pretty good though and might be able to walk you through fixing the scripts if necessary.
Now one other thing to keep in mind is that this thread is for a one-click not the actual TAR. There are ways to decompile an Odin one-click but I would recommend just using the original TAR which can be downloaded in @garwynn's original TAR thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=2885005
Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. I was talking about your "How-To" on your site, and I replied there too. It was very helpful and informative. I found Splitfus2 doesn't seem to work with KitKat, only JB and before. After getting everything ready to go to try your method, extracting the files from the TAR, etc. I found the Kitkat file names differ a bit from the JB ones, according to the TAR BALL flashing order you have listed on your site. Which shouldn't matter since all I need to make is a stock system and recovery TAR. Assuming I use the method you have posted, only making a separate system and recovery TAR, a data wipe shouldn't happen......correct? Only other thing I'm not sure of is after extracting the files from the original TAR, the system is in system.ext4.img...... I assume I leave that the way it is, correct? Only time I've seen it that way is when extracting a system.img and converting it to a flashable rom.
When is the script wipe used? I'm pretty good with scripts. Thanks for your time and help, it's greatly appreciated!

I flashed, then rooted with cfroot. My Knox was already tripped before flashing this. Not sure what you mean by repercussions, but flashing this should not trip Knox, its the cfroot part that would.

When you say "no repercussions" what exactly are you looking for?

Meaning problems after the rom has settled Like System UI, Context Issues,ECT.
Rwilco12 I fully trust your work and thank you and all whom have helped . I am as one could say very apprehensive about changing complete systems. Roms and modems. I was in no way referencing this to and thing bad.

Been following you since the Epic Touch days..... anywho, any chance of getting some love for the S5 Sport? Thx!

Service at my house literally went from 1 bar to 2, YMMV. I did switch to the bmfr cm11 build a day after flashing this, service has remained the same.
recovery
thanks so much for posting this - been trying to find an easy way to odin back to stock after trying a few ROMs.
Will this also take us back to stock recovery or does it only do the system/rom part? if not, do you know how to get back to stock recovery?
thanks so much!
hi is there a ni3 modem with out system i can flash?
Serious Problem
i downloaded this on my dads new s5, just an hour old.
Flashed in odin, now im getting the "firmware upgrade encountered an issue" error message.
i tried going on to sammobile and downloading sprint stock firmware and flashing that, but odin is rejecting it.
theres also a bunch of versions on sam mobiles site, so im downloading 2 more versions, 1 from april and 1 from june (NCD & NE5)
could it be because im running odin on windows xp vmware thats making odin not take the tar file?
also, i dont know what version im coming from, the only thing i remember seeing when i allowed it into developer mode is that it was on 4.4.2.
please help!!!!
XP under VMware. Yeah, probably asking for trouble.
