[Q] Does the SGS2 support flac natively or not? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am NOT talking about other 3rd party apps. Thanks.

in short yes it does.

I think yes, I already have more than ten of them and the Stock one plays all of them
PS- Oh yes, GSMArena spec sheet confirms it,
- MP4/DivX/XviD/WMV/H.264/H.263 player
- MP3/WAV/eAAC+/AC3/FLAC player

All phones with Gingerbread support FLAC.

Hmm. Thanks, but any suggestions on why streaming of flac from a Plex media server don't work?

Sounds like the media server doesn't support flac.

Hmm. It works on other units...

Full flash is very useful on youtube because most videos are absent from the app and mobile version
Flash player version 10.3 was also posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1309406
For me 10.2 and 10.3 work the same, I can't change the resolution to lower it. Whjen using 360p the video has a very low framerate, but at least audio works well!
Is anyone able to set the resolution to 240p? Even going to "playback settings" and setting quality to low didn't help.
Nice. It finally works fine on my device.
Thanks!!! It's great!!!!!
10.3 increases compatibility. Now I can play BBC iPlayer content and video feeds on BBC News. Also, the BBC iPlayer app now displays the first frame of video - on 10.2 it didn't even get that far.
Gotta get this THx for sharing
Flash 10.3 is available as well for ARMv6

Winamp is a good and free player: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5udWxsc29mdC53aW5hbXAiXQ..
Don't know if it plays wma though, you should test that

Hmm well, I'm sure PowerAMP will play them, it's a really good player but the downside is that it doesn't come for free . A player that might also be able to play the files is Doubletwist but someone wrote this about it on a forum:
On the Android app, this varies depending on the device as doubleTwist uses the system libraries for playback. Some devices such as the Droid 2 and the Droid X come with WMA support while other devices do not.
Thanks,
Henry

if you don't want to spend the money and the above player doesn't work you could also consider converting the wma files to a playable format depending on how many files you have. Hope this helps
Ok but one last question: i searched a lot, so i may ask: Is there any free converter

Same album art on all music

I have the 3.6 player and I have downloaded multiple CDs on my player. Unfortunately, they all show the same album cover. When I ripped these I checked to ensure that each cover came over. How do I correct this in the player?

I know this is for macs but it should give you an idea on what to do. http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=357676 or try this http://androidforums.com/android-media/465674-google-music-duplicates-albums.html just read through the threads. I know this happens to me not only on the Player but on PS3, PC, and my older mp3 player. I think it has something to do with the Album tags.

Subtitles Support

Dear all
I feel very sad because Z Ultra doesn't support subtitles for watching movies from Movies app.
The only way I find is to install any other app like VLC etc.
These small required things makes me miss my Note II.
Sent from my C6802 using Tapatalk
I think the Movies can give full support for Movies purchased through the SEN store. Same with Apple's apps I suppose. MKV files also does not have sound. I think this is due to the codec licensing issue. Installing VLC is the only option unfortunately.

I use third party apps whenever possible for a couple of reasons.
1.) They are normally better than stock apps.
2.) To avoid the very issue you have just encountered when swapping devices.
Thats just me though each to his own, I agree it can be frustrating when simple features get left out
Sony heard it. Now MOVIES app with subtitles support. Thank you SONY.

Yup, got it last week. It is also possible to play videos in the background now (i.e audio). Not sure if it was there before, but i didn't notice it until the latest update.

Have you tried BSPlayer? It's a third party video player which HAS subtitle support.
Give that a go and report back.

I used to play videos by Dice Player. However, my concern was why there was no option for subtitle support for the default player in Z Ultra? Which in general I have seen in other mobile device.
I thought it's the basic required thing in all video playing apps.

True LordManhattan, but third party video/music players are always better, depending on the application and support of course.

Sure, but i hate having unnecessary 3rd party apps installed, so i'm not complaining when Sony updates their stock apps with new features
