What new roms?
All two of them?
Not a lot of development for this device yet.
Fear not, we're getting there. Slowly.

I was actually thinking something similar to the OP the other day, but not necessarily a video review. It would be nice if someone could do a post comparing and contrasting the various roms as they come about. I.E. what they have and don't have, basic improvements, etc...

Hi guys,
Sorry if this has been covered, but I couldn't find anything. Also, this question is not "when will ICS be released"
I've never used a custom rom with my SGS, so I was wondering which ROMs are considered the most stable, and which devs usually get new versions out quick with few bugs. The reason is I can then follow the thread for that ROM and see who pushes it out first
Cheers!
Your question is still stupid. Nevertheless, most probably teamhacksung will be the first with their CM ROM. Most other AOSP ROMs just use their work to create their own.

I'd recommend following these 2 forums, and you will definitely get the 1st version of ICS available on this site...

Please help me understand why it's stupid to know which devs to follow?

It actually could have been relevant if he(?) at least answered who were regarded to be the best chefs and the most stable ROMs...

It was perfectly relevant. I can't tell you what you're going to like. You need to do what most other people do and try things for yourself. If someone offered you vanilla, chocolate or strawberry, would you ask them which was best or just try them?
Anyway, your question was...

No-one can possibly answer that. Watch the development forums and find out like the rest of us.
Anyway, it will probably be available AOSP before any "flavouring" is done, as the Nexus is AOSP.

Hey people, ive seen ICS on the G1 and the nexus one, i know its possible so, is anyone gonna port it to the Optimus V?!?!?
They are currently working on something at android central. It may take a while, they are doing a lot though, from what I know they are getting closer though
Not in this lifetime, sorry. Not that the device isn't capable of running it with some expected hardcore lag, but you need a working kernel and even if you got one that boots, hw still sucks ass and wouldn't be usable enough to like.

Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone knew when the Xperia S is getting android 4.0/whether it was worth putting a custom rom on it, depending on how much time there is.
Thanks,
Storm08
Good grief!
This forum needs a like button
We're not getting it, ever... Its a myth like unicorns
Last time I heard from Motorola that Xperia s will get 4.0 early next.year.

It's already out for quite a while and we're working towards AOSP.

AOSP is Android Open Source Project. If you need the source, get it at source.android.com

Thanks very much, ill have a look.
Another day, another person too lazy to read the stickies or search. Ugh.
Question: Does anyone know if there is a diagram of some sort showing "how customized Android works"?
Meaning: You have ROM's, CMOS of some sort I use called TWRP, the OS itself, etc.
Assume: There are tons of hard core computer people out there, many even Linux people....who just never really "got into phones" by choice, but always appreciated and followed them...and would like to understand how things work.

Its a question, therefore q&a
Development is for a release of some sort, not asking for stuff
Schematics or flow charts?
Do you also wants flow chart of kernel lineage?
Thanks for writing.
I'm just looking for something simple that a 5 year old could understand.
Like a Photoshop picture or something with like blocks that tell me what leads to what, and what does what... Assuming you're rooting your phone. Meaning...If I root my phone, I need to understand what the ROM does, what the CMOS (whatever it's called) does, which is most important to do first, etc. Flow-charty, yes. etc
But...anything you have is fine.
Thanks

In all seriousness, someone asked a similar question last week and basically what you're looking for is not available. Maybe a Linux/Android book may have something.
I don't know about coding but I am learning. How could i develop a new rom? What are the requirements of it?

Not everyone started as an expert. Therr are genuine people who wanted to learn so give everyone the benefit of the doubt. Other than that if you have less good to say then do not speak at all.
