hi,
it seems that every now and then, not to often, the device would boot itself with no apperant reason.
it happend to me twice the last month (that i know of).
is there a time when it auto-searches for updates or something that causes it?
anyone else noticed it?

I've had this occur three times when using my phone if i lock my phone and someone calls me or texts etc notice... my phone locks and will not respond to touch/unluck phone is not froze as the time changes. But there is no way aside from rebooting to fix this. anyone experience similar? is this a 1.5 issue or just a eris issue?
i've run into this quite a bit too and usually end up having to reboot with send+end+vol_up no idea as to what is causing it tho
I have read around its from the OTA Update and you must *288 on the phone to reprogram it. its rumored to solve it also a hard reset is rumored. Im trying the *288 and will report back.
If worse comes to worses, just run the RUU posted in the Desire Dev forum. It'll do a full reinstall of the phone's software and wipe your data, but it might fix your problems.
Yup I feel I may be doing that, seen that posted as well and commented the same. I just cant wait for 2.0/2.1, Root id like but its not itching me as much as the 2.0/2.1 i want.
I have been having the same problems that it sounds like many are having. My screen freezes when I have an incoming call causing me to miss the call. Very annoying. I basically have to have the phone at stock settings for it to work correctly. Also when I have a reminder from my calendar go off it freezes so I cant slide it down to turn it off immediately. It takes about 15-30 seconds for the slider to work in both cases.
I've had this issue since the update. I've run the ruu and did a factory reset. Nothing has helped. After several hours on the phone with tech support- the new Eris is in the mail.
so far since ive done *288 to reprogram the phone i have not had the lockup issue occur.
Don't you mean *228, or is that a new one?
yes *228 sorry
I tried *228 numerous times. The new phone just froze on me this morning at the lockscreen. I figured it had to be software related.
i had the same problem it happen to me 3 time had to restart my phone i think there is a bug in the software it happen after update
Hey guys just curious but has anyone else had any problems regarding to the phone just randomly switching itself off and then back on again? This has happened to me a few times now and thought i'd see if anyone else had, had this happen to them and knew what was causing it or any information at all really.
Thanks in advance to anyone who has any ideas!
Unless of course it is just me which would really suck.
I saw you debranded your phone.
Those restarts happened before too? If yes, you might want to send it to warranty.
If no, is the new firmware so, you might want to flash the old firmware again
Yeah sorry i should have mentioned that the random restarts occurred before and after the debranding. I think I may need to send it in
this same thing is happeining to me?? like once a day??? its really wierd...
I haven't debranded or anyhting and it has only started happening for the past week or so (I've had the phone for a month)
It happens to me when I connect my phone to my PC via USB and select "Mount".
Every time!!
Weird...
sadly this is a hardware issue... Whenever the phone warms up a little bit.
I didn't have that issue in the first months but ever since then and more and more frequently. Right now I'm fighting with o2 to get a new device, because this doesn't seem to be repaired.
Do the following test to make sure you have that hardware-bug:
Let the battery charge for a while. When you notice your phone getting a little warm, open a few applications (google maps, navigation, mediascape) whatever... The phone should immediately restart itself.
When you remove the battery cover it might also smell a little burnt.
Congrats... You're affected and it's only gonna get worse...
Sometimes my Atrix says "No SIM Card" after booting up, even when I insert a SIM card.
I can still make calls, and the signal strength shows normally, though.
This may be solved by several reboot, but it's annoying.
I have this issue using Wet Dream 1.4.4 or Darkside pre-final.
Can anyone help?
Bump for answers...
Don't know why it happens, but for me it usually happens when the phone autonomously reboots. I usually can tell when it is going to happen because the boot process takes a very long time. I usually reboot the phone and it works. Lately it's been happening more often than the widget disappearing problem.
Sorry, I've got nothing other than reboot.
I had this issue on basically all of my previous phones that I used for a long time. Might be because the conductors or whatever are going bad. Been drinking so I don't exactly remember what they're called.. Licking the SIM card always fixed that problem for me. But that could cause problems later on. Liquid + electronic = bad. Only had to do it once in a blue moon and never had an issue with the phone completely dying on me, but that IS a possibility.
i've had this problem once in a while as well on 1.4.3 and again it's solved with a reboot. i believe is has something to do with not shutting down properly. as i've only seen it happen when im trying to flash files and need to reboot or some freak accident and the phone crashes and reboots.
i believe that certain features or actions might not work properly if you leave it in that state without rebooting to fix it.
The first time this happened to me (about a week after I first got the phone), I thought it was temporary and logged into the phone. It made me put in my Motoblur information and lots of things were not working as expected. After a reboot, the phone saw the SIM card, but it required me to go through Motoblur setup again to get it back to the original state.
Since then I just reboot the phone when it happens and don't even try to use it in that state.
LG-P760 stock Android 4.1.2
Only basic apps, FB, gmail etc.
1. Factory/hard reset
2. Works around 3-4 days perfectly, then starts to crash.
By crash I mean black screen, nothing helps, only battery pull.
3. After first crash, starts crashing more frequently. Happens only in standby.
Worst was today: If I start phone, log in, then it wont crash before I put it in standby. First time in standby, within 30 second, it had crashed.
twice crashed when someone tried to call me. Vibrated once, then crashed.
I would like to avoid replacing my phone.
Any ideas how to find the source of this problem? Any recommendations?

I had the same problem with Vietnam Rom and it was the baseband. I changed to the baseband from ICS from a Rom of my country so I have Vietnam Rom+Original ICS baseband and everything works well.
Thanks.
Although, I understand it mostly is problem when you have unlocked bootloader.
I am running stock everything.
And they have problem with rebooting phone, mine crashes and freezes.
Weird is that it starts around third day of normal use.
I think I have to take on a quest with a warranty. Does anyone know, can I contact LG straight without the provider, where I bought the phone?

I haven't unlocked it. The problem was the same: SOD sleep of death, when the screen goes off you can't do anything but pull the battery.
But if you can use the warranty use it. You should find the warranty info in the box to know where send it in your city.

Thanks. I will search into it. Sleep of death is new expression for me.
I only have phone, it came from relatives who threw away receipt + box.
Luckily I managed to get new receipt from provider yesterday (I dont think they usually give out receipts twice), so now I can use local warranty.
Thanks everyone for replying. I will post update when I have final solution.
Since you are stock you might want to consider flashing the kdz to see if that helps. Good luck!

I'm having the exact same issue with mine. I've heard everything from "try a different SD card" to "factory reset," and nothing seems to permanently fix the issue. What I've found kind of sort of works is just reboot it a whole bunch until it finally comes up and doesn't do it any more. From there, I'm good to go until the battery runs out or I need to reboot it because all the bloatware is causing it to glitch. This usually means that I have to reboot my device 10+ times in a row every few days. Hopefully, you found a more viable fix than this.

Hi
I managed to kind of solve this issue. Because I am not sure how, I haven't closed thread yet.
Anyway, I warranted device, they re-installed soft. Came back, same thing. After around weeks use, SOD. Factory reset. After that, things went interesting.
I tried not to leave it idle. Always had something running. I also had noticed by the time it never occurred when it was plugged in or music was playing.
One day it did it again, but I was in a hurry and just disregarded it. I did something(I was busy, maybe just plugged it in automatically?) and it came back up. It took like 10 sec for screen to start, but it did just wake up. And it haven't had crash ever since. I have no idea is this solution or is this just some coincidence and I am not keen to factory reset again, to see will it reoccur. It's my only phone
TLDR: Managed to get out of sleep of death, haven't reoccurred since.
EDIT: Wow the issue was really REALLY stupid. turned out i was using a HUGE picture as my lockscreen wallpaper, and it was causing hang ups because I guess it was trying to load that huge picture into ram every time it went to sleep or something. change the picture, everything was fine. I'm really dumb.
My galaxy s2 has been fine pretty much since launch. Switched over to cyanogenmod a long time ago, been updating to their nightlies about once a month. Recently tho, starting like this week, my phone has been randomly rebooting like crazy, to the point that the phone is unusable. Any thing I try to do results in a soft reset. The fastest way I've found to recreate the issue is to turn on and off the screen twice quickly, causes a crash/reboot, dont know what to call this.
AFAIK I still have access to recovery, odin, etc.
I've tried flashing an older nightly, wiping cache, factory reset, still get crashes really easily. I've ruled out my micro sd card being the problem, it still randomly reboots without it. Any idea what I can do to try and narrow down what the problem is?
Do a clean install of stock in the first instance, run it for a few days & see if it persists. If it stops happening, then obviously something CM-side causing it. If it doesn't replace battery. If that doesn't fix it, take it to a local mobile repair shop for diagnosis.
