Hey guys.
Im on t-mobile right now and i really want a qwerty keyboard android. I want to be up to date, but speed isnt EVERYTHING for me. Please help. Im using a MT4G right now and i really want a physical keyboard. Any suggestions or upcoming phones??
Thanks in advance
Remember! Im only 13. Gimme a break!
There is a bunch of QWERTY keyboards available for T-Mobile. But the most recent ones are the Samsung Gravity Smart, myTouch 4g Slide, the Side-Kick 4g, almost all the Blackberries, and the Motorola CLIQ 2. My personal favorite is the myTouch 4G Slide.
Old School...but a few survivors!
I am missing my QWERTY keyboard ;-( Had a Droid 3 for awhile, now have the bionic. My fingers are just too fat I think for this screen typing stuff ;-)
How about the ones like the Blackberry keyboard and Android touch screen ?
I see Samsung Replenish has it but it's CDMA
I wanna stick with android. I guess a QWERTY is a MUUST. So are there any upcoming AMAZING phones for T-Mo?
Remember! Im only 13. Gimme a break!
Okay, since you're 13, I'm guessing a cost effective phone is best for you and your parents. The sidekick 4G is only $30 (I think) at WalMart and $80 on the online t-mo store ON CONTRACT. It has decent (1GHZ 512MB RAM and a 3.5 inch screen) specs and has the best keyboard I've ever seen on an Android phone (it's 5 rows with a dedicated number row)
And if you're really into android, we have a couple of ROMS available if you root.
The Mytouch q and the LG Doubleplay are coming out later, but they both have qwertys and are pretty good.
Or you can go with the beastly MT4G Slide, but it's $200 on contract.
Are you on contract, or are just looking to pay full price for a phone?
IMO Moto Droid 3 (Milestone 3) is the best option currently available
(dual core, qHD, 8Mpix, 1080p video, front cam)
I've long wished for a QWERTY flagship from HTC, Moto or Sony,
but they seem to have forgotten that market (at least their high-end flagship phones)
I'll have to get my finger used to screen typing or otherwise settle with their mid-range not-so-bleeding-edge QWERTY phones offer
I need Help!!!!! LG LW 690 AKA Optimus C
Hey guys not sure where to post this, there are no forums for my phone. Seems no one really has any info on my phone. I hope somone can help me. I have an LG LW 690, AKA, Optimus C through Cricket. I know my first mistake is having Cricket as my carrier, but $60.00 a month for unlimited talk, text and data and insurance cant be beat. I rooted this Android with Gingerbreak V1.20 worked like a charm. No problems what so ever. After a week or so, I tried flashing ROM with Rom Manager, I was unaware of the consequences that were to follow. After Flashing it said something like "flash completed successfully," upon rebootit froze. and is now "BRICKED."
It does not shut off unless battery is removed, it will not boot past lg icon.
I heard that if I removed the back that on the motherboard there are two terminals that I can attach capactitors to and it will force jump start the Android. Does anyone know about this. I have nothing to lose doing this, because right now, I have a $220.00 piece of metal, I cant use. Any help would be appreciated. Email me [email protected]

Which recovery does your phone have? If you can enter download mode, you can flash a different ROM (firmware) using a program for your PC. I imagine you flashed the wrong ROM, maybe one for a different device. Your phone does NOT sound bricked though.
The mytouch 4g slide is good choice if its within ur parents budget. One of the best keyboards ive used was on the touch pro2 especially with its titling screen. Its a window mobile cell. U can run andorid on it but that maybe too much of a hassle for u.
On a side note... I wonder why htc never made a android cell with the touch pro 2 design...
I think Sony Ericsson was going to release one. I think it was called the Xperia Pro. The specs werent really splashing, but it was decent.

1 GHz snapdragon, 3,7" 854x480 screen
Same as the Arc, and a 8.1 MP Exmor R CMOS camera.
They also have the Xperia Mini Pro, which is very small and cheap (€200<)
Hi all,
A question all to you!
I sell cellphones as a part time job (Fry's..meh) and when I was setting up a customers phone (Droid 3 actually) I was amazed at how fluid and nice the new UI looked. I compared it to my Atrix's motoblur/skin which obviously has its differences.
I was wondering if there was a way to get the "new" motoblur/motoskin that currently exists on Motorola devices such as the Atrix 2, Bionic, Razr, Droid 3 etc.
My Atrix is rooted and unlocked.
Any answers are welcomed.
That would require a full port of the new Motoblur framework wouldn't it? Is that even possible?
Truth be told I have been waiting for second gen WP7 devices to hit the canadian market, which doesnt seem to be happening anytime soon. Over the course of the past 3 months I have aquired an Acer Android tablet, sold my ipad and purchased an Android phone for my wife (casual user).
Now I am at the point where I am very tired of my 3 year old BB Curve and I want to start developing for the mobile market (for fun, possibly create custom apps for work, I am in IT)
I come from a Java background 10 years ago, then moved to .NET, which is why I was waiting for a Windows Phone, but has time has passed I have been following Android news and I am strongly considering getting an Android phone.
What I am not clear on is the Nexus line of phones, I guess this line of phones is managed by Google, which then chooses new OEMs as new phone are released? Is this a big benifit when it come to update/App support/ROMs..etc or is it a drawback?
Also, if you were to choose a phone to fit the following needs/wants, Is the Galaxy II or Galaxy Nexus a better fit (I really want a Samsung phone)
Needs
-Exchange support, not full, but the more ActiveSync features that are supported, the better.
-ROM Access, Id like to play around with ROM/Custimize the phone
-App support, I noticed on my Acer tablet a lot of apps are not available, that we can get on the phone
Wants
- I am stuck with this phonme for 2 years, so being able to upgrade to 5.0 when it comes out would be ideal.
- A Big screen! The softbuttons only on the Nexus is nice
- I want ICS right now, but I dont mind waiting till April when the GII gets it in Canada\
- I want to develop for it, if one is easier to development for (doubt it), it would be good to know.
Thanks, just looking for advice and figured this forum would be good, as I like to mess around with the software side of things, long time reader, first time poster!

Go for the Nexus. It will have amazing dev support, and being a nexus is a huge benefit. It it guaranteed to get updates for 2 years, and receives all updates first. Unlocking the bootloader is a simple command throught the terminal emulator. Dev wise...you just can't go wrong with that phone.
Galaxy Nexus if your planning to dev as that's what its really made for as boot loader can be unlocked easily an it will have the next Android version guaranteed.

another vote for Nexus S or Galaxy Nexus
you can also subscribe to the Samsung Developer program, to get loaner phones for DEVing
Thanks, looks like Nexus is the way to go
Thanks for the info, Is there a reference blog/document that outlines why the Nexus devices are special and what you get, not that I dont trust you all .
Just search google or whatever. There are multiple blogs that detail all the abilities of the Google Nexus. Again though, for what you're wanting the Nexus is going to be the best thing kicking right now. Easy unlockable bootloader and the ability to take updates immediately if you like.
If you're going to develop you might want to check out www.thenewboston.com He starts at the very beginning of basic development and gets as advanced as you like more or less. Great resource.
Nexus is a great choice for you.
samsung 9100
Get the iPhone 4 and jailbreak it.
Galaxy Nexus. It will last you years because its a google phone and will always receive updates first. Plus, they have the highest dev support.

I find the IPhone way too small to type on + I want to stand out . If people use an on screen keyboard I dont understand how people can be productive with such a small phone. I work with a lot of Iphones due to clients purchasing them, so I have been able to test them thoroughly.
Nexus or Galaxy S2
If you want a big phone get the Samsung Galaxy Note.

Hello Everybody
I am planning to purchase this mobile phone if Jelly Bean becomes available to this.
The mobile phone is very much comparable with HTC One S in many aspects.
Moreover not as expensive as HTC One S.
I believe we can get Jelly Bean with CM's help.
But, i wish to have Motorola's customization too.

Many devices are still waiting for ics, so is too early to know about jb. Maybe after the rollout motorola will state their position about jb
My view is we should get it. The RAZR is similar to the gnex and there is now the connection between google and moto. It depends on if/when google handed over the code. And how much messing with it moto want to do.
If you look at how long it took them to get ics to us compared to how little it differs to the nexus release, they must have been doing something else too?

You forget moto has to run through the Verizon bloat mill, I'm guessing 6 months?

The funny thing it that ics for verizon came out early that for gsm unbranded ics
Read an article about Cyanogenmod 10 where the devs said that it's similar enough to ICS that they'll be able to port it quick. Hopefully that'll mean a quick turnaround for us, too.

raddy if you want i can sell you mine , i have enought of this ics delays.
Seeing ask bugs with ics, i would say that it will be loooong time to jb, thus i don't think we will be in the timeframe

My last phone, a Motorola Droid X, went from Eclair to Froyo to Gingerbread... so, it's likely the Razr will receive Jelly Bean.

I have a standing offer for angst-ridden people who want to sell their phones- $5.00 for a Razr, $6.00 for a Razr Maxx, and additional $0.25 if it has a memory card over 32gb.

It's Motorola. Make it 2 years.
It's VERY popular to trash Motorola! One wonders how all you smart consumers bought one in the first place, since their upgrade schedules, locked bootloaders, etc. haven't changed since they first made smart phones.
I just can't believe how quickly the jelly bean threads started now that we have ICS. I love this forum, all jokes aside. I love that it moves so quickly on to the next big thing.

Hello Everybody
Thanks for all your replies.
I actually open this topic in optimism for two reasons.
1) ICS update for this mobile phone is mostly stocks with small Motorola niceties.
2) Motorola Mobility is now a Google's Business.
Because of 1) point being true, Motorola Mobility has very less engineer work to update it's OS to Jelly Bean.
One more take, Google could have bought Motorola Mobility for two reasons.
1) For it's deep patent portfolio
2) To side-step Samsung
If the second reason i suggested becomes true, then if Google adopts this mobile phone as Google's Experience device, then Motorola Razr has a bright future.
As it is very much capable than Samsung Nexus S at least.
Google not even have to adopt Motorola Mobility's mobile phones as Google Experience Devices, if Google just shows small love to its own business, that it self is very much enough.
Moto RazrMAXX has excellent build quality and out of the world battery life... But it comes with locked bootloader...
Verizon is by far the best network, but they are constantly messing (shared plan MINUS Unlimited, Unlimited = FULL device price) and milking their customers...
OH GOD, What a life...!!!
Even though Motorola + Verizon combination scares me, GOD Google + Motorola is giving me some little hope... First they reduced the Blurness in UI... Then they may bring JB to us before others...
We just can hope only...
@Raddy
I don't think Google's Moto is to side-step Sammy... Because 1) Google is NOT a half eaten rotten fruit... 2) Google can never be EVIL, afaik...
Further if they want to side-step Sammy, first thing they have to do is UnLocking their bootloaders atleast in their international versions or bring some options like HTC... Imagine Nexus-MAXX-HD

Google said that google and motorola will stay as 2 different society. I guess they only wanted the patent. With the help of google motorola can be a really big seller of smartphone but i think they don't really care about motorola

You forget that not all RAZR owners and not all members of this forum are verizon customers in the us. I'm on orange in the UK. Its more traditional that unbranded devices get the updates first. I don't understand why vz pushed it before the rest of us. Makes no sense.

I think we have to look at the larger picture here- Apple has the software and hardware production of the iPhone. That gives them an excellent position to offer a device with no corruption of their happy unicorn sparkly iWorld experience. Google acquiring Motorola gives them the manufacturing arm they lacked. I fully expect to see the next "Nexus" iteration to come from Motorola. On the Windows Phone front, Nokia is doing horrible and will very likely be bought out by Microsoft for the same reason- it gives them a turnkey manufacturing arm... one already geared up to make Windows Phones.
Whether you like Apple products or not, you cannot argue with their success. They design and build products that sell very well. Every company out there wants to do the same thing.

Hi
I currently have an HTC Droid Incredible 2, rooted and running CM 9. Its a good phone and has served me well, but its time for something new.
With all the hype and hyperbole out there, its hard to know what to buy next. I was hoping the members here would have some suggestions.
A few details:
- I'm on Verizon
- I travel internationally often, so need something with GSM as well. (Current phone works great for that.)
- Prefer the 4.3" screen to 4.7" . Fits in jeans better.
- Want to root the phone ASAP as I hate all the carrier bloatware. So, what phone is super compatible with CM10 or other JB
Since phones are expensive, I'm looking for something that will be "forward compatible" for a while.
Thoughts? What would YOU buy?
Thank You!!
