Those volume buttons generally only work with Apple products, you can however remap the play button for a variety of functions using an app called Headset Button Control, it's on the market.

I've seen some threads about CM supporting it on yhr g1 but haven't seen any rims for the vibrant that have this feature. Anyone know of any roms that have it already?
I have volume control on my headphones and I would like to use the physical volume switches as track switchers or a play/pause and a next track button. Thanks

Is there an mp3 playback app that lets you use the phone's volume rocker control to skip, forward or pause the track? I miss having that from my blackberry where it lets me skip or forward the track if i hold on to the volume rocker button and such.
Player Pro does. It's the best media player i've used.

Btunes also has the ability and also works with bluetooth remote options. Just wish they had more skins
Thanks guys, player pro works well for that one thing i don't like is that it turns on the screen as you change volume or track now from lock mode, not a deal breaker but i wish i can control that.
I have a set of Scosche iPhone mic/earbuds. The mic and earbud parts work, but no controls. (well one button works out of the three...the pause, call/hangup button)
Are there any wired/mic earbuds that will control the 3D?
Or are there any apps that will give these earbuds control?
I don't know, I haven't looked into it too much, but u do know that beats by dre headphones have the same controls, and HTC and Monster Cables have paired up to include Beats Integration.
Headset Button Control will let you map actions like skip to a double and triple tap of the play/pause button, I believe Tasker will as well... I doubt you'll find anything that will allow you to use the volume buttons.
Is there any headphones that have volume control on them and work on our i9100. i found some klipsch headphones that are supposed to be for android but in the description on the app in the market it says that the volume control does not work for some samsung phones including the gs2.
Look in the market for headset droid. Very customizable
yeah i have that installed. i was hoping for something that has dedicated volume controls on it that work.

try Frinky Music Controller on Google Play
I always wanted to have an app which controls music with volume keys but i could not find any which does it smoothly. So I developed my own . My app Frinky Music Controller on GOOGLE PLAY controls music with volume keys and smartly controls music volume. It supports more 200 music players and Spotify. It works on both rooted and non-rooted phones.
Some features of the app are :
Next Song -- press volume UP key single time to play next song.
Previous Song -- use volume DOWN key to play previous song.
Control Volume -- when we want to control music volume , most of the time we press volume key more than once (next time when you adjust volume , feel it) . So the app uses this tendency of users as a function to control music volume i.e press volume key more than once to adjust volume.
Stop song -- Oh! you play music in your class in absence of professor here comes the professor .... turn off the music quickly by UP+UP+DOWN+DOWN key action (it takes less time than muting the volume and unlocking the screen ).
Sleep Timer : Single sleep timer for all your music apps.
Manually control app's service : well to understand this feature you will have to download the app.
It consumes very less amount of ram.
Sorry I can not post a link here as I am new here.
