I suggest you try delete youtube from settings/manage applications, then pull battery and reinstall it from market again.
Worth a shot!
Good luck!
Did you try clearing the data and cache?
How do i clear the data and the cash?
Ok I found the solution. There is an app for managing the data. that seemed to work. Thanks guys!

And data?
was this ever figured out? I have an Acer iconia a500, exact same issue
I have the same issue it just randomly started but only with videos from my account like subscriptions i can search n play random videos only.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
I have the same issue too. And if you read the reviews in the market, it seems like a lot of other people are having the same issue.
Sent from my HTC Amaze 4G using XDA Premium App
This started today on my A500. I have cleared cache and data from the app. Then I did a factory restart. As soon as I click on the youtube app it brings up the thumbnails of the videos. Clicking any video brings up the "stopped unexpectedly" error. This happens if I am logged in or not.
I didn't install any apps last night, and previously I used the A500 to watch a lot of YouTube videos.
Its a known issue that Youtube would be FCing now. Hopefully it will be fixed or an update will come our way.
well Im glad I Google this... been busy the past few days, come back to watch some vids, and my a500's YouTube FCs when I click any did. I was kinda fre#king out, thought my tab was broken or something
My phone's YT works fine tho
Deleted as posted in wrong section sorry

I haven't had any trouble playing videos... Ensure that the videos you are trying to play are formatted/available for mobile, some aren't. But, that's probably not the issue. Some people have been having issues with YouTube not working when signed in, but usually the entire app doesn't work.
If all else fails, you can always use the Erase option in the menu, then re-root and try again. I've done that like 30 times now.

I have performed all rooting procedures and everything is working perfectly except YouTube. I click the app and it just goes straight to the homescreen. I tried removing the youtube app and reinstalling it and it still does the same thing.
Any ideas to fix this?

I posted this in another thread, but:
You do not need to uninstall YouTube. It is crashing because it is still linked to your gmail account, as a hack to get all of the other Google apps working. If you disassociate YouTube from your gmail account, YouTube will once again work!
From the Market, download Titanium Backup (Free in the Market)... You may already have it installed, if so, skip this part.
Open up Titanium Backup, it will likely ask for Superuser permissions. Grant it.
If you get a Busybox error, install Busybox from the Market.
Click on the second tab at the top of Titanium, named 'Backup/Restore', and let it populate all of your apps
Scroll to the bottom of the list and tap the YouTube app
You'll get a dialog box. Click on the 'Wipe Data' button
Just close Titanium Backup, and you're done. YouTube will work, now that you cleared your user data.

I found a way around it. I knew it would work and it did.
Download ES File Explorer from the Android Market.
Open the ES File Explorer
Access the App Manager by clicking Manager from its Menu options.
Hold on the YouTube app from the list of apps for a few seconds and click the Details option.
Voila! This should get you into the Application Info for the app.
Clear data, clear cache, Force stop and you will be good to go!
Thanks for this solution it fixed my youtube closing issue

Once it's working again, don't sign in the next time you use youTube or sign out before quitting YouTube. If you remain signed in, the same thing will happen again next time you try to start YouTube.

Works perfect ^^ thx
I'll try to keep this brief.
My wife and I both have stock standard HTC Aria's running Android 2.2. A few days ago my wife complained that her battery was discharging really fast. Then a day later mine started doing the same thing.Going flat in a few hours of standby. Normally at the end of the day they would both still have 8 out or ten bars still lit. I turned off wifi, mobile and bluetooth on both phones and that seemed to fix the battery problem.
Now when I turn on wifi or 3g I cant connect at all. My wifi router shows up in settings but it constantly is scanning-connecting-disconnecting. Also cant connect to 3g.
I have tried another sim card but the problem is the same.
As I said, these phone aren't rooted in any way. Have very few apps. Basically used as a phone.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Maybe you can try a new battery. Or, if you still have warranty, give it back to service.

You can try a factory reset as a last resort

Thanks dansou but the problem is not the battery. I believe the power was draining because an app was trying , constantly, to access the wifi which will not connect.

Just did a factory reset and everything seems ok.
Just one other problem: When I log in to google play it is showing that I have 2 apps installed (airdroid and astro) These are no longer on my phone but google doesn't want to believe that. I've tried to trash them and tried installing them but nothing happens. It just says "These apps will be un/installed shortly"
Any thoughts?
Thanks

You may have already tried this, but maybe a reboot would do the trick. If rebooting doesn't help, you can use a file manager to take a look into Data>Apps or System>Apps and see if you can find their .apk files there and delete them. If you aren't rooted, you won't be able to delete them, and I'm not sure what you should do if that happens. If they aren't there, then it's probably just a graphical glitch and is showing what really isn't there.
EDIT: Sorry, I read your post wrong. Go into the app details of Google Play Store and select both clear data and clear cache, and that should solve the problem. If not, try rebooting.

Oh my bad, I wasn't really clear about that. It's actually in your phone settings, not the settings in the Play Store.
So you open up Play Store in 'Manage Applications' as if you were trying to uninstall it. In that menu, you'll see options like Force Stop/Disable. Scroll down, and you'll see the 'Clear data' and 'Clear cache' options, and there ya go. I hope I explained it well.

If it's showing that only on the website, you shouldn't have to worry about it... It does that
It's probably showing them for the "old" one, before you did a factory reset

Oh I see now. I'm sorry, I thought you were saying that the phone was showing it.
Like WinSuk said, I don't see the problem if it's only showing it on the website. It could be showing what's installed on your wife's Aria if you two are sharing an account.

Sorry, I'm getting a bit confused here.
The apps that I mentioned; Airdroid, Astro, google play etc are showing as being installed on the google play web site. These apps are no longer on my phone after I did the factory reset. Therefore I have no way to reinstall the apps as google play is telling me they are already installed.
Is there another way to do this? Can I dl the apk files from somewhere else and install them manually?
Thanks again for all your help

You don't have the Play Store installed on your phone? If that's the case, you need to search up on google to find the apk file for it. Once you do that, you should be able to install the other apps you've mentioned.
Sorry if I misunderstood you again. I'm getting pretty confused here also.

Update:
I managed to install airdroid and Astro through Android Market app (was that the precursor to play store?)
Now when I log in to google play it shows those two apps as installed. Everything else is showing in "other apps in my library" waiting to be installed. I think I'll leave it at that. My airdroid is working again :good:
Thanks for every ones help.

Yep, the Android Market was renamed to the Google Play Store.
It'll eventually update automatically on your phone and change back to the Play Store
I am on YouTube version 5.9.0.13 and when I open YT it goes straight to "an error occurred." Tried clearing data, reinstalling, no luck. This is a shame because I love watching YT vids on the app, especially with this gorgeous screen.

Hm... So the stock version works, but when I update I get the error again.... I think I'll just keep it from updating till its fixed.
I don't know, guys...the current YouTube client from the play store is working fine on my VG3.
I just checked. No problems with 5.9 0.13 at all, outside of the usual buffering when my WiFi is being sluggish.

I'm not sure either... Mine works fine on my G3 but I've seen some of the themers having issues with Google apps and that usually worked.
Google's been updating like crazy lately... Nothing new there I guess.
Yeah with 5.9.0.13 it goes straight to "an error occurred". However stock is fine.
Something different between our Verizon G3s then. YouTube 5.9.0.13 works fine here.

I've also had the same issue, started a couple of months ago. Doesn't happen everytime but consistent enough that it's affecting my use. With all the issues Huawei's been having with the US, is it unreasonable that I think Google's doing it on purpose? Regardless, it's really making me dislike Google at the moment. The phone is phenomenal and I refuse to believe it's an issue on Huawei's end.
