I'll try to keep this brief.
My wife and I both have stock standard HTC Aria's running Android 2.2. A few days ago my wife complained that her battery was discharging really fast. Then a day later mine started doing the same thing.Going flat in a few hours of standby. Normally at the end of the day they would both still have 8 out or ten bars still lit. I turned off wifi, mobile and bluetooth on both phones and that seemed to fix the battery problem.
Now when I turn on wifi or 3g I cant connect at all. My wifi router shows up in settings but it constantly is scanning-connecting-disconnecting. Also cant connect to 3g.
I have tried another sim card but the problem is the same.
As I said, these phone aren't rooted in any way. Have very few apps. Basically used as a phone.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Maybe you can try a new battery. Or, if you still have warranty, give it back to service.

You can try a factory reset as a last resort

Thanks dansou but the problem is not the battery. I believe the power was draining because an app was trying , constantly, to access the wifi which will not connect.

Thanks aster. I was hoping for a fix before doing a factory reset but I might have to resort to that.

Just did a factory reset and everything seems ok.
Just one other problem: When I log in to google play it is showing that I have 2 apps installed (airdroid and astro) These are no longer on my phone but google doesn't want to believe that. I've tried to trash them and tried installing them but nothing happens. It just says "These apps will be un/installed shortly"
Any thoughts?
Thanks

You may have already tried this, but maybe a reboot would do the trick. If rebooting doesn't help, you can use a file manager to take a look into Data>Apps or System>Apps and see if you can find their .apk files there and delete them. If you aren't rooted, you won't be able to delete them, and I'm not sure what you should do if that happens. If they aren't there, then it's probably just a graphical glitch and is showing what really isn't there.
EDIT: Sorry, I read your post wrong. Go into the app details of Google Play Store and select both clear data and clear cache, and that should solve the problem. If not, try rebooting.

Oh my bad, I wasn't really clear about that. It's actually in your phone settings, not the settings in the Play Store.
So you open up Play Store in 'Manage Applications' as if you were trying to uninstall it. In that menu, you'll see options like Force Stop/Disable. Scroll down, and you'll see the 'Clear data' and 'Clear cache' options, and there ya go. I hope I explained it well.

If it's showing that only on the website, you shouldn't have to worry about it... It does that
It's probably showing them for the "old" one, before you did a factory reset

Like WinSuk said, I don't see the problem if it's only showing it on the website. It could be showing what's installed on your wife's Aria if you two are sharing an account.

Sorry, I'm getting a bit confused here.
The apps that I mentioned; Airdroid, Astro, google play etc are showing as being installed on the google play web site. These apps are no longer on my phone after I did the factory reset. Therefore I have no way to reinstall the apps as google play is telling me they are already installed.
Is there another way to do this? Can I dl the apk files from somewhere else and install them manually?
Thanks again for all your help

You don't have the Play Store installed on your phone? If that's the case, you need to search up on google to find the apk file for it. Once you do that, you should be able to install the other apps you've mentioned.
Sorry if I misunderstood you again. I'm getting pretty confused here also.

Update:
I managed to install airdroid and Astro through Android Market app (was that the precursor to play store?)
Now when I log in to google play it shows those two apps as installed. Everything else is showing in "other apps in my library" waiting to be installed. I think I'll leave it at that. My airdroid is working again :good:
Thanks for every ones help.

Yep, the Android Market was renamed to the Google Play Store.
It'll eventually update automatically on your phone and change back to the Play Store

Hello,
My problem is identical to the one show here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1377514
Basically, when you go to "My Apps" in google play, it just says "Applications and Games owned by this account will appear here."
I am unable to download previously purchased apps.
I have tried ALL the solutions on that thread to no avail.
It happened after I upgraded my Rom to a newer version (hydrogenics 23/03 to 25/03) but I doubt it is ROM related, since flashing back to the backup of my 23/03 rom does not resolve the problem.
My Google Play app is on the latest version (3.5.15) which is supposed to solve this issue.
I am really desperate and at a loss. Anyone can help?
Link them from titanium backup market doctor

I have tried that. Does not help
Have that problem to, google play only shows the installed apps you bought and not the not yet installed ones. Type the name of the app in the market search bar and you can download and install it and then it shows up in the installed apps list.
At least for me it worked

The thing is, the purchased app doesn't even say "purchased". It just states the price like I have never purchased it at all.
Then when I try to "purchase" it again, it gives me a 403 error.
When I override it with the old Android market (2.3.6) it works fine.
Do note that even with Google Play in the Browser the same problem persists (Purchased apps are not shown as purchased, but purchase history is seen in Google Wallet, trying to purchase them again gives me an error, similar to what happens in the phone). Seems to be a problem on Google's end but I don't know why. I have emailed them but they have yet to reply.

I think it is ROM related. Paradoxxx (Hydrogenics' dev) was aware of it anyway.
I had this problem on his 29/03 version, did a full wipe (wipe data/wipe cache/dalvik/format system) and installed the 31/03 version, all was fine.
So I just flashed viperROM and rooted via the RegawMOD. Whenever I try to download a app from the Google Play store, it just refuses to download. It'll display the "Downloading" dialog and the icon will pop up in the notification bar, but it won't actually download. I've already tried clearing the Play Store's cache and the Download manager's cache. It didn't help. I am connected to the internet. When I tried downloaded the SwiftKey 3 beta off of their website, it worked. Anyone know how to solve this problem?
i rooted with regawMOD too and i locked my bootloader back and unrooted and i am having the same problem.i even ran ruu and still having the same troubles.
Did you try clearing the data in the google app store in addition to the cache? You will have to sign back in I think but that would be the next step. Otherwise I suppose just wait awhile and try again later after a reboot or something.
I had a similar problem and what I had to do was create a new google account then log into the play store with that account and delete my old google account. Once that's set check if you can download an app with your new google account. If you can then you should be able to log in with your old account and solve the problem.

I did try clearing everything. It still wouldn't work.
I noticed this the day I bought the phone.
It's really annoying when I've got app updates. If I click on the batch update button to update multiple apps, it won't complete unless I stay on the update page and keep the phone from going to sleep. Otherwise, the first app will update and the rest will stall on "downloading". This happen pre and post root.
Very annoying.

A lot of people have been having that problem...its Google that's causing the problem...its not us or the phone itself...

I am having this for 2 weeks, 2 phone have the same issue. Try to flash different ROM but fail
It must be google, what the heck they are doing!
Really irritating.... I, too, have this issue occasionally, usually on a large download ... like Sky Safari Pro (570 mbytes). Two months of this and my Note freezes during the episode. Only solution I have found is to turn off WiFi, power down, remove SIM and restart. Only then can I kill the download in Google Play. I have seen this on 3 different stock ROM's and 3 different Customs. GB and ICS. Currently on ICS XEU.
Usually waiting an hour or two and then it's okay.... batch updates are a real killer with this and I also see the first download okay then the rest hang and have to be shut down manually.

I looked up a few solutions, and none of them worked. Finally, I gave up and reset my device to factory settings.
Now, when I try to set up my account, it sits for a minute and then says "Cant establish a reliable data connection to the server".
What should I do?

By the Android Version I think you probably dont have a custom rom. Now since you don't, the easiest way without spending hours on the internet researching is to call your phone provider's technical service and they'll help you. This is a direct and easier method rather then searching online.

Sorry about that. Well if you didn't root it, you should have your warranty and Samsung would definitely help you.
I wouldn't recommend taking any device back unless you have exerted all the possibilities of a fix. People's time is precise in my opinion.
What you can do is try factory resetting your device, it might of been a issue relating to updating the Google Play (Market) application.
Hope this helps.

Well since you have a Google account, try this. Log into your Google account on the computer. Go to the play store. Go to my apps. And download it from there. I highly doubt this will work because you don't have a connection but its worth a quick shot. Also since you do have root, did you backup your apps via titanium or any other app? You could get all your apps and data back that way.

I tried downloading from my PC, but it didn't work because the account wasn't synced. I was able to get pretty much everything back by using the Aptoide store and downloading the .apk files manually. I don't need an account on the device to use it anymore, so everything's fine.
I came out with a solution for you, but you will need to take a couple of steps to get it completely working.
First thing you need to do, is download a Play Store APK file, and save it onto your device. (Click here to download)
Next step, since you're rooted is finding a Root File Explorer to remove the Play Store file you have installed on your device. ( Try This *Note, haven't tested myself*!! ) )
When it's removed, feel free to install the play store apk from the first step to your device.
Hope this helps, is so, feel free to like.

I downloaded the Google play app again last night, but that didn't work. Should I do the same with all the Google apps, but un install them before downloading them again?
And I think Google play music still works for some reason. YouTube, Gmail and Google play are the ones that I'm having an issue with.
Edit:my play music still has all of my accounts stations
You might try removing your google account and re-adding it.
I am signed out of my account. When I go into settings and look at accounts, I am not signed into a Google account, and if I try to sign in I get the same screen I posted on the last page. I don't get how my play music is still signed in
Don't sign out, remove the account totally from settings.
I think it is completely removed. It prompts me to either add an existing account or a new one.
I made a video to show my problem. In the first part, I show clearing app data in the settings. Then I show what happens when I try to sign into google play or gmail. After that shows that youtube and chrome are signed in, and the same goes for google play music.
Afterwards I show how there is no google account signed in in the settings.

O well.. you got me. The only thing I would try next would be a factory reset.
How do I use titanium backup to restore my apps if I lose my root when I do a factory reset
I don't think you will loose root just by doing a factory reset. But, to make sure you can install a root keeper app like https://play.google.com/store/apps/...m9yZy5wcm9qZWN0dm9vZG9vLm90YXJvb3RrZWVwZXIiXQ.. to make sure.

I tried to upgrade/downgrade apps such as "Android System webview" and "Chrome", without solving it.
I don't know what else to try... is there any way to reinstall all the system apps?

the reason is very simple: to get to that screen that you showed me I would have to go through "settings/apps", but I can't open settings... or maybe is there another way to get there?
Hi! I'm having the same problem with the HTC U11 android 9. It just happened. I took my phone to a phone tech and he told me that I needed to do a hard reboot. (back to factory settings) However, that would delete all the data and pictures, music..etc.... In other words, I'll lose EVERYTHING! I need to back up the phone and have tried several different programs on my laptop to achieve that, but they all require USB debugging to be enabled. Which I can't get to because I can't access the settings on my phone. I also need to save some photos from a locked folder in the phone, as it crashes when I try to enter the locked folder. It crashes just as the pattern entry window opens. .
A hard reboot is out of the question. I need to save everything on this phone, so any help would be seriously appreciated!

HI, which are these programs requiring USB debugging? I have it enabled, but with "Dr.Fone" or "Droidkit" I have not solved this issues... both say that function "repairing system" is available only for Samsung models
As you can see in this short clip
Got it!
Uninstalled Google updatesm and now Settings app is not crashing anymore.

https://adpappcontrol.com/en/ ADP program requires USB debugging.
The other one I tried was Coolmuster android assistant.
You say you got it by uninstalling google updates?
Can you guide me through that please?

Simply open Google Play Store, tap on your account at the right top, then manage app, then search for "Google" app and uninstall all updates received

I got it! I uninstalled Google from the preloaded apps and the phone reverted to the original google app. This restored all settings functions! Thanks so much!

Go on the play store and get short cut maker by Rishikesh kamewar. You can literally make your own short cut to anything in your phone. All settings. All options. All activities. Does not need root and is free. I had the same problem with several parts of my settings. Click on it and the damn thing ****s it's self. This is how I get around it. Use the shortcut and it doesn't trip whatever is making the crash.
