[Q] Safe to install cm7 for g8 on Chulri temp initramfs? - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

BUT. Since I have Chulri temp root, and have Rooted initramfs + kernel in my Archos101 g8, is it safe to follow the procedure of the above link :\
Cant link O-o just arctablet(dot)com and cm7 post

it is not possible
i use the recovery menu
and reinit the archos
before install the sde and CM ...

Chulri root and the OpenAOS Multiboot are not compatible, but OpenAOS ultiboot
does the same for the archos orginal FW, so you don't "need" both.

OK, so chulri is on dev edition, hmmmmm, a complete system restore should do the trick right?

Not at the moment, if you are on 2.0.71. You can install the SDE firmware and use the modified initramfs to be rooted though!!

[Q] [HELP] Official LG Updater over ClockWorkMod Recovery

I have an LG Optimus One running 2.2.2 latest firmware V10e. Recently, I rooted my device and installed ClockWorkMod Recovery and the Lagfix+OC Kernel by der_caverman. I am using the Stock ROM with that Kernel.
My question is when the official Gingerbread Update comes out by LG, will I be able to update it with the official LG software updater or will it not work because I have ClockWorkMod Recovery installed.
If not, how can I remove ClockWorkMod Recovery get my original Recovery Back???
any help would be appreciated!
I already asked the same question

If the phone is just 'rooted' and no custom ROM, would one need to follow the above steps before upgrading? Thanks

nope. you can upgrade at any time if u are staying with ur oem rom even if u are rooted. only thing is that u will lose ur root previllage after the update.
its alwayes advisable to have a custom recovery and custom rom. cause it can take nandroid backups(will save your day if anything goes wrong)

it is risky since you have changed the frame work.if i were you i will do the following.
1)unroot the phone( if u have used gingerbreak use the same to unroot)
2)down load the original recovery from http://www.megaupload.com/?f=XGKNWZQJ and flash. thus u can getrid of amonra and get back original p500 recovery
3)reboot and hard reset and upgrade.
4) since u are now on original recovery and in unrooted condition if any thing goes wrong u can claim warrenty.
let me ask u why u need an upgrade? to get lot of crapwares? or to get amere 600mhz kernal? or to get a laggy phone with mere 60 mb of internal storage space to install all ur apps? or to have adds on every apps?

its stable,beautiful,oced and updated gingerbread.
Thanks for your answer!
And I understand you when you ask me why do I need official update, because I agree that official rom = creap And thats why the first thing that I have done when I rooted my phone was to uninstall all the bloatware from it
I will for sure flash miks rom when he base it on official gingerbread, and if I have a little time for weekend current mod that you recommended (I only hesitate because of the bugs - I know there are just a couple of them, but...). I tried yesterday francos kernel v151, but I'm experiencing color bending in lower half of a screen with it...

ya its up to you to decide...and i agree with u absolutly.but i aint had any problems with mik's 6.5.2(not using francos ker cause some error with cpu freq settings, u have to use setcpu).
Just one more question - when you said:
2)down load the original recovery from http://www.megaupload.com/?f=XGKNWZQJ and flash.

you mean to flash it from amonra recovery, right? (I know, it's a noob question, but better to be safe then sorry

yes its a flashable unsigned zip.but if u r using amonra to flash( cause it is unsigned) u have to uncheck the option "toggle signature verify" first.Amonra wont allow u to flash unsigned zips unless u do the above.
ps:if original recovery is flashed u will lose all the options in amonra and the only option will be the hard reset option.
there is a good how to section if u wish...

1. This is a dev forum.
2. This topics go in the general section.
3. Use the search function.
Root your device with gingerbreak.apk(for 2.2.1,2.2.2) or z4root v1.3.0(for 2.2),download rom manager free from market, run it and give superuser permissions and install clockworkmod recovery , BTW this is not the right place ask questions, better you can post thread in general forum

There are updates but dont use them,2.2 is very stable and you can root it with z4root,u can also root it with superoneclick , but iam lit bit lazy,if you want official 2.3 gingerbread release from LG wait for it,if not then go for unofficial devoid.froyo final(best froyo rom) or mik's cm7 port(best gingerbread rom)
PS: (warranty void if you have rooted your device)

[Q] Root 2.2.2 with Super One Click?

Hey all I have a question. Im trying to root my friends Dell Streak for him and Ive read that Super One Click works. Can anyone confirm if they used that method? If not please let me know which you used. THANKS!
I never used super one click. Long time ago I used Gingerbreak to root 2.2.2 based on 347.
Now I just flash Superuser.zip via streakmod. Takes less than 10 mins altogether. This method worked flawlessly for me on 2.2.2 based on 360 and 2.3.3 based on Olleh 407.

DSC 0.66b - Using it now. No bugs for me at all
I've previously tried rooting with an app and S1C, but none have worked. Flashing the .zip as others have mentioned is the only way to do it :]

Yes, next question
But seriously, the only thing you have to remember when using fastboot on linux is to use "-i 0x413c" (Dell's USB Vendor ID) after fastboot, before the fastboot commmand, e.g.:
Code:
fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.img
Edit: I now saw the typo , it's 0x413c

[SOLVED] Restoring backup CWM (or xRec) with different kernel ?

Hey people !
I just want to ask a quick question. When you do a backup on xRecovery or CWM, does it backup the kernel too ?
So, if yes, it means that whatever you install after your backup, you won't need to flash the kernel again with flashtool (i mean, using a computer) right ?
And, if no, I suppose it means that if I want to restore a backup, I have to reflash the old kernel (or a compatible one) ?
(I'm asking this because I want to try the CyanogenMod 9 (Android 4.0.3) which seems to be good enough. But I'm currently on MIUI 4.0 (2.3.7), so if it goes wrong with CMod ...)
Thanks !

Sorry to say but on our phones no it does not... you have to flash kernel separately.
on alot of other devices tho this is not the case just an FYI.
Pvy.
Erf, too bad :/
But thank you anyway
