Really want to congratulate Tasssadar for his multirom
After thinking about the whole concept about dual booting for awhile, an idea came to me. Of course this might just be wishful thinking, but is it possible to dual boot a kernel? The reason why I would want such a thing is because some kernels are better than other kernels in specific "fields" (some are performance-oriented, some are not performance-oriented but do pack a good number of fixes for let's say the axis inversion bug and cpu lag fix; btw i am, in no way, trying to degrade any kernel).
Now I would give this a shot myself if it weren't for my lack of knowledge in android development

Actually from what I think we should move on to .35 kernel, no point still using .32. Franco should add the fix for axis inversion in his .35 kernel, then i dont think we need multiboot kernel as it has the best of both worlds(battery and performance)

if franco added the axis inversion bug and cpu lag fix bug to his kernel, there would be no reason why people would use other kernels. of course that is entirely up to him

Hiya! Okay, I'm quite experienced with Android now, and I know this is a noobs question, and possibly frowned upon, but I was wondering what the best Kernel and ROM for my X10 is?
I previously used an X8 with CM7 (2.3.4) v.138 HACKDROID, and I pretty much want the same awesomeness on my X10 but better. There are a load here, and the Master Thread doesn't have any recommendations like the X8 Master Thread (which recommends HACKDROID).
I just need a few pointers and I won't post a noob question again. This is all I pretty much need to know.
Thanks
DM
If your into Cyanogen, check out CM7-ZMOD, butter smooth. If you want a more Sony Ericsson feel, check out Wolfs 2.3.3 rom. Again, butter smooth.
There is not really any kernel options at the moment. SE hasn't released the sources yet.

Thanks. Yeah, its just like Hackdroid I found a 'Power to The People' Kernel by DoomLord, but it seems to turn off my signal, wifi and the USB cannot be recognised at all?
Only two quams with the ROM is lack of Governers - Not unless this Smartass one is good enough?? And the Volume in general is far too low.
Wish there was a Kernel to improve the ability even further. It's got the potential.
if you want a fast, reliable rom then j's cm7 j004 with doomlord's custom kernel can't be beat. until se release sources for gingerbread. this is the best custom setup around... in my opinion...

As I stated, I'm no expert, in fact, I could even be completely incorrect. I have however read other peoples responses to similar questions about SE releasing their kernel sources. They state that the Linux kernel sources, which are licenced under the GPL, must be disclosed within a certain period of time, which I believe to be 15 days.
Apologies for my somewhat limited knowledge about such licenses.

No worries, I just want a confirmation. I've never heard such rule in GPL(confuses me a lot since there are variants of GPL out there).
I prefer this ROM, I'm still playing around with different one's.

Even the new Achotjan CM7 released... Just checked it now. Looks pretty awesome. I'd say try ZMOD one or The Achotjan CM7 if you are a Cynogen fan. I was using Wolf's 2.3.3 for almost two weeks now and I'd say thats the best if you dont want to use Cynogen ROM... Cheers
I'm going to give Wolf's a shot, but I really enjoyed ZMOD's, but it could be better. The HTC Mod keyboard doesn't work on it sadly. I've just resorted to using thumb keyboard, its pretty good actually
Went back to ZMOD. It's amazing. Plus, the new kernels are making it a better experience now. Its running like lightning now. And the battery has improved too. Doomlords kernel is amazing

No you don't have to update your kernel, and no you don't have to wipe anything. The custom kernel is optional. I'm using stock kernel on 4.0.2.1 and its extremely snappy. I'm going to update to 4.0.3 tonight.

I'm running Wolf's 4.0.3 with Stock Kernel and Undervolt Addon, running very smoothly. Juice plotter tells me 51 hours of battery after calibration and a two days running. Best ROM I've used!

Can you guys tell me the Pros and Cons of Paoulo, Francisco, Fserve [.35 Kernel] in comparison to one another? Like what does it lacks and what does it have, how r they different. And which is the best kernel for adfads N2 CM7 ROM according to you? Also I tried goggling for Paoulo's kernel and Rome kernel but couldn't find them. It maybe cause I don't understand Italian. So can you also tell me exactly how to get them?
Paolo - the great thing about it is the touchfix which is very good and not bad for scrolling, so good for gaming use.
Franco - the latest one is best for gaming use, but its not smooth. If you talk about previous versions, its have the best performance/battery life ratio.
Fserve - currently still in development, so we can't judge it yet.

Yes, it drains a lot of battery in WiFi. I'm using the 1.3.3 BFS V-Sync OFF with Oxygen 2.3.2 and the phone is really fast and smooth! No lag in 3D games, and without WiFi, the battery life is awesome (Governor LighassV2 OC 245/729)! Another bug that i found : doesn't work USB MASS but i don't know if is a rom related bug or kernel related but...BTW, fastest combination ever imho
Franco's kernel hands down. Paolo's (and possibly Rome's) kernel is just a ripoff from franco's kernel.
I hope fserve will eventually pick up franco's sources and improve it further.

WTF? Paolos .35 kernel come out first, with oc, camera flicker fix and wifi tethering fixed (came out broken on lg sources) so is very idiotic to say that is a rip off, I know that because i tested both kernels as soon they come out in that time.
Imho Paolo's kernel is way more stable than Franco's

Oh , thanks for explaining and sharing, i didn't know that Cyanogenmod have this kernel source
Franco himself didn't say Paolo stole from him.
And
I don't respect Zack very much as he did not release any source code and thus violating GPL, and i remembered he himself said there is no reason to release source code, which I think it is idiotic. Also, most of his supposed 'patches' mostly came from franco(franco supposedly said had the same patches in his kernels for multiple devices).

BTW: How do you know that he used franco patches?
I flash the Rome 1.3.3 kernel yesterday on Cyanogen 7.2 N1, the performace is great, no blackscreen bug until now.
But the battery is not so good as franco kernel (12% in 3h, I need to wait until the end of day to see better and examine Better Battery Status).
So for now I recomend Rome if you don't care so much about battery.
Guys is there a way to convert a ROM using .32 kernel into .35 version ?? I can sucessfully boot the ROM after flashing a .35 kernel on it but got FC on few apps and perfomance is not well increased :/ ... Is there a way to change to .35 without the sources ?? could it be possible by replacing some libs ??
I have a short answer: no.

There's no way you can convert kernels...I don't honestly see why you'd want to especially since in the past few months I haven't seen any 32 kernel roms being produced....pretty simple theory really,35 is performance and 32 is battery with a bit of performance..it goes more into detail but honestly 35 kernels are honestly the best route to take

Exactly, for example the developer of ArcKnight kernel which is one of the best custom kernels for Xperia Arc & Xperia Arc S, replaced his Arc with a Galaxy S 3. which means no more ArcKnight kernel. and so did others.
The stock kernel from Sony is already very good, no need to tweak it much right? There are 2x OC kernels based on stock, a pre-rooted stock kernel, 2x CM 9.1 kernels and 1 CM10 kernel.
