Flash P509 2.2 to P500 2.2 to 2.3? - Optimus One, P500, V General

I've flashed my P509 to P500 stock rom before and am wondering if I could upgrade the fw to gingerbread using the lg fw updater or kdz. I know that gb uses a different baseline, so I could also upgrade my v10e to v20g. I'm afraid of bricking it since I've read a few threads that say that you can't flash different baseline fw.

1.st of all, it will not brick your phone, (if its p500 or P509)
and also if you flash it, it will give you no signal as you have not the correct lib's,
or it won't even boot up.
and just to give you knowledge its baseband // Cheers

Did you read the link in my post? It boots and works!! P500 baseband is simply missing the 1700mhz spectrum that the P509 uses for 3g.

[Q] Baseband Question

currently I am on Mik_os's 2.3.4 CM7 rom with a baseband of v07u, my question: which baseband would I need to flash ? Also with flashing these basebands, what if I were to go back to froyo roms ie...devoid froyo final, void delta, or megatron ? Would I get stuck in boot loops or even worse take a chance at bricking my phone ? I get the whole concept that the reason to flash the new baseband is some GSM will work on offical GB roms.
mik_os's CM7 is still on version 10e baseband, therefore, it is *technically* a froyo based rom just rebuilt to BE gingerbread without the baseband.
So in that, it uses the old baseband. Same as froyo.
The only roms that require the new baseband are roms based off the new 2.3.3 released from LG.
you're welcome

I appreciate the help, but that didnt necessarily answer the question I was looking for was....with flashing the new baseband(s), which one is compatiable with all roms ? Say I wanted to right now flash to an official 2.3.x rom, than a few weeks later wanted to go back to roms like megatron, devoid froyo final,mik_os's cm7 ? I know I would have to flash the new baseband for the new roms but what would I do to have a working phone for the "technically based froyo" roms ?

You should get the old baseband to have #technically froyo based roms. This can be done by,
1. Flashing entire older official version rom (i.e.10a, b..) via KDZ or LGMDP.exe.
2. Easier? Just flash only baseband via LGMDP.

[Q] baseband

I know that roms for the p500 are compatible with the p509 because they both basically use the same hardware. Does this also apply to basebands? Can i flash a baseband (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1149530&highlight=baseband) on my p509 (im asking this because the baseband, as i understand, is a whole different part of the phone)
bump
anyone know?

It's better you post this question in that Baseband thread itself. You'll get answers surely.

No don't flash p500 baseband. Not compatible. P509 has different set of frequencies I think.
P509
GSM850, GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900,
UMTS1700, UMTS2100
P500
GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 900 / 2100
Some change in 3g I think.

bump:
is there any baseband's that are compatible or are specifically for the p509?
i say this because i have tried the p500 basebands on my p509 and to my understandings everything works good except for my MMS the size is always super small! n to what i have research it says because when the MMS is coming trough it can't tell which phone i have so it minimizes the pictures so that it can be compatible to every phone!
I've flashed both the v20c and v20g basebands from the P500 onto my P509. No problems at all except that 2.3.3 sucks
I've always flashed back to the TMO v10s baseband when I want to downgrade so I can't comment on the P500 old baseband.
Odd behavior occurs when you try to use TMO Flex.db (edited of course) Flex.xml and apns list on the new baseband. Only 3 buttons appear on the stock LG 2.3.3 Launcher. No biggie since I always use a third party launcher.
@ mona - You've asked about the mms in 2 different posts.... Go SMS solves the issue.
You can try extracting the baseband files from KDZ and replacing them in the baseband folder that Dr.notor provided

Is reading so tough??? It is given clearly in the thread's first post.
Do NOT proceed until you fully understand the following:
- P500-v20G-baseband.7z is for official v20[abdg....] ROMs and ROMs based upon it (e.g., GingerLOL, v20G stock ROM, customized v20G ROM, 0x0v3rfl0w ROM and GingerCriccoROM).
- P500-v10E-baseband.7z is for all other ROMs.
You've to downgrade to v10E.
[EDIT]: Saw your post. Glad that is is working fine now.
i knew its mentioned but its mentioned customized v20G ROM
so i was confirming that cyanogen comes under 20g or 10e
i did it wth 10e only
You could also flashed the rom with kdz and that way the old baseband would be written automatically.

[Q] Gingerbread downgrade to froyo

Hi guys,
I need some help please.
Im currently running a
GB 2.3.3
Kernel version 2.6.35.10-perf+
V20g -
Im planning to downgrade it to froyo for the following reasons.
1. To easily root the phone
2. To easily get tun.ko for vpn use.to connect to the internet.
Thats all masters.
Do i need to downgrade or there's a way for those things without downgrading.
Thanks to all.
You need to go back to the old baseband look thru the forums

only the baseband sir?
Do it via KDZ Firmware flasher and research for a tutorial how to flash using it and how to download the old firmware. I can't research for you now because I got things to do

thanks a lot sir..
ill go for downgrading to froyo.
after i downgrade? i will downgrade also the baseband?
Id recommend using LG tools, kdz flasher I here has problems. Than again I've never used it so I can't tell you from experience but I can give you a place to start
Don't use xda's app search function, its useless instead use Google search queries
Go to android development, than to stickies.. the first post is what you need. Its a post by ciaox that night do you justice, also right underneath it is another post with alot of info but I believe its outdated
Also look for sweetnsour's post, I think its under general section stickies..

well, if you still got the warranty then contact lg service centre and tell them to downgrade from Gb to Froyo2.2.2
they may tell you that there is a slight chance of bricking but they will also tell you that not to update after downgrading
And Viola!!
You will get stock froyo on your phone without any hassle, all things working and no chance of bricking your phone by yourself and no baseband problem
Followed it and no problems till yet, currently on Mike's CM7 6.5.8
And to root, just use gingerbreak
2 methods to manually do it.
1. kdz (risky in my view as i briked my phone once with it) (search xda to follow)
2. lgmdp (i feel safe method) ( to flash froyo of your choice follow http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19006040#post19006040
or
to flash indian froyo v10e 2.2.2 follow http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1324105)
and once u successfully flashed using any of the above method no need to flash baseband separately, it will be done by the tool while flashing process itself.
if you want to root stock rom 2.3.3 follow http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1200167

Here you find both Basebands (New and Old) and also a guide to change them.
And also there is a Search button on the page which gives you alnost ALL answers
OLD BASEBAND: V10X, only for use with ROMs based on Froyo or unofficial CM.
NEW BASEBAND[: V20X, only for use with ROMs based on Gingerbread or official CM.
You can change this using LGMDP but I prefer use KDZ Firmware Updater (but you need to root and install recovery each time).
If you flash any ROM without the right baseband you haven't GSM and/or data connectivity.
