and
B) where I can find the battery reconditioning software or information on extending the battery life.

A) you can go into the stock ROM's files and take the messaging.apk and put it into the rom you have right now, be sure to make a backup of the one you have just in case. As for me, i'm using GOSMS, it looks great, has a popup thing etc.
B) i'm looking for the same info, i heard you have to drain the battery down to 0% then 100% then erase battery data from recovery, but others told me that draining lithium batteries shortens their lifespan and makes it even more difficult for us. Theres a easier method that worked wonders for me on my previous rom; I charged till it said 100%, then shut down, and plug in usb, so it starts charging again, then wait until it beeps or says 100% again, then reboot, and charge again, till it goes to 100% it doubled my battery, but idk how at all.
Thanks, I backed up everything through TB, so I should have the original file, just didn't know what the file name was.
Yea, I also read something like that in one of the threads, I forget which one it is. I also read somewhere about a flashable mod but also forget where that is because I was a mere newbie some 36 hours ago and none of this made sense, getting the hang of it though, very addictive, lol.
If I run across anything, I'll post the link in here

Titanium backup might not actually back that up, but theres a easier way, you go to SYSTEM/APP using a file system (root explorer, astro) and copy the messaging.apk from there to your sd or something, but im sure TB did it too.
The Flashable Mod is already included in most of the newest and latest ROMS these days, let me see if i can find if nero has it.
Nope, i THINK it has it, but i'm not sure since the original thread states nothing about a battery mod or something.
If you find a link to the battery mod, link me i'll check it out.
and yeah lol, flashing can get addicitive, so much that you accidentally hard brick your vibrant 2 times >.> (my own story lol)
Battery life improves with time, its like the battery gets used to your behavior on the new rom.
Idk why you would ask but Nero is currently one of the best roms, and best known for its battery life as well with the themes and such...
for me... Axura is just....... like 32 hours with moderate/heavy use at random times. Heavy being playing Asphalt 5 HD and Dungeon Defenders lol.
If any more questions just ask i have nothing else to do, school starts again tomorrow, so tensed up >.<.
Yea I found MMS.apk in that directory on my internal drive, don't know if that's the one that came stock or if it's for nero 3. Guess I'll just install it and hope for the best, lol
Where do you get GOSMS from? is that an app in market? tried googling it and couldn't find it. Thanks!
Battery reconditioning;
1.charge battery full
2.with charger still plugged in boot into recovery and wipe battery stats (it's under advanced)
3. unplug and fully drain.
4.fully charge and enjoy.
I can get more than 24 hours of good use on a charge.

When I was still running a rooted 2.2.2, my phone idle and cell standby usage would both read about 40% each when i left my phone on overnight. This resulted in only 10% total drain once I woke up in the morning. Now with the prerooted and debloated 2.3.3, my phone idle is reading 75% usage while the cell standby reads 15%. Now when I wake up, my phone battery drops nearly 40%. Does anyone have a similar issue or know why this happens?
I followed the debloat guide for the prerooted GB. Maybe the system is trying to reach one of the frozen apps to no avail?

I already received the OTA -- I was one of the soak testers. And unfortunately, this doesn't have anything to do with root or anything you have frozen. I am experiencing the same problems. Battery life is horrible now. I am almost considering contacting Verizon and moto on concerns of the update breaking my phones functionality.
I have raised awareness of the battery problems on the soak forum. Hopefully we will get a response.
Also, I'm using the extended battery and have a hard time getting through an 8 hour work day with light usage.

Try a battery calibrating app. Its possible that the update deleted the battery cached and now it needs to be re-calibrated. I've been getting great battery life, so its not something I've looked into thoroughly.
My phones been unplugged for 12hrs and is at 70 percent and I have data sync running 24/7.
And I also have 250 user apps installed and not even deblurred

It's funny, I usually don't have these odd problems, but I'm getting the same exact thing. Awful battery drain. It could be that I have removed a certain service/app while I was debloating. Gonna try to SBF or a different ROM.
My phone works fine and has the same battery drain when it is on. The thing that has changed is that my phone idle has been eating up a 5 times more battery than before.

Tried this yesterday, but it did not appear to help any...
My battery life has been great since GB. A lot of these "issues" people are having with the GB update are isolated issues. Could be due to not doing a data/factory update or 3rd party apps. If anything I noticed phone idle using more of a percentage because everything else is actually using much less battery life now.
Wish everyone would stop including pre-rooted update when they have issues with this GB build. All P3Droid did was pre-root it for us, he did not mod it. It is otherwise a stock update (soak test actually).
I am not calling anyone out specifically, it just seems to be a trend. I know you guys aren't trying to blame him or any other true developer who is trying to let us get the most out of our DX2s. Just an observation.
Pre-rooting the update is by definition a "mod"
Anyway im also curious if some of the bloat removal is causing this. I was not de bloated on 2.2 but I did on2.3 and I am draining much faster. I used to get 17+ hours easy, now I barely get 9.

One thing we found on the fascinate that had an effect on battery performance was the battery state prior to flashing any rom. Better performance & reporting was noticed if the flash was made on a full charge. Seemed to smooth out the calibration issues found the first few days after changing/updating roms. We also did some bump charging occasionally to top off the charge.

My phone idle usage was at 75% the other day but over the past couple days it has declined. Its at 56% now. Idk if there's any reason why its declined but its gotten better

moto trolls?
My battery life is no different than with froyo. I websurf ALOT at work. And whats this about de-bloated? after I got gingerbread up and running it was just as bloated as expected. The rooted unmodded rom I downloaded didnt seem to have any bloat removed. I did that all myself after the fact and still my battery lasts just as long as before.......
Yeah I've noticed that too. Helps me when I power button + sleep my phone so it sleeps rather than idling.

If you're experiencing battery drain, you probably just have some bad data from froyo lingering. I bet a complete sbf, factory reset, root and bootstrap, flash rooted gingerbread and then don't use titanium backup or use it but only restore USER APPS, NOT APPS+ DATA. Will fix it.
It's A universal thing for any android phone, if you don't make sure you have a clean instal things like battery drain will happen.
Incidently I'm getting slightly better battery life.

I did a full SBF to 2.2.2 and then rooted and then installed GB. I start the whole process again later tonight to see if I can get better results
So something strange happened this morning. I woke up, just like any other day, i took my phone from my bedstand to check my mail and such, only the phone was off for the first time since i bought it. The battery was drained. Thing is, I fully charged it before i went to bed.
Im running it on battery saver mode, no background data and i had the WiFi off on this particular occasion. Can someone explain to me what just happened. I checked battery usage and it said 65% being used by android OS.
Strange.
EDIT:
I also seem to be getting app crashes, can't access ringtone options and cant get into the native music app...
What is going on...

Can you try reflashing the latest SBF?
I guess I would ask the standard questions like have you recently installed any apps, been flashing anything or removed any system apps. First thing I would do is flash the new SBF update 198_7. This is provided by Yay 4 Juggs and is the official (leaked) update. Don't put on the update that is now out 198_6 cuz it has some issues. You'll find the update in the development section.

Ok, i got it sorted out. Apparently the battery calibration got messed up and that probably lead to the oh so common Android OS Drain bug. But i had it recalibrated and now it works like a dream again. All is good. Thanks for the help anyway guys, much appreciated!
Mods feel free to close this.
How do you do a battery calibration and what is it?
Thanks

Battery calibration is required when u flash new rom so as to remove the old rom's bin file containing battery stats..
Download battery calibration app frm market and follo2 instructions..
U can also do it via recovery..charge phone to 100 % and boot into recovery and wipe battery stats..

I'm not sure if other X2's do this, but my battery runs fine. I get a solid 10 hours of hard use out of it.
But lately I noticed that if I simply reboot I get another 20%-50% out of it. Yesterday, it was down to around 30%, restarted, went back up to 80% and drained normally the rest of the night.
Is this normal? Is there a fix or something I can do? I wish I could just get the most out of the battery without having to restart.
I'm just running rooted 2.3.4. I do the whole drain it to 0% once a month thing & fully charge.
--
P.S. I'm not making this up. Lol.
2.3.4 is the problem. There is a battery bug in the software where it reports less battery power than you have. Then, when you reboot, it might shoot up 5% to 10%.
Many custom ROMs have a fix in it. Not sure what the fix is or if you can apply it to the stock ROM.
Eclipse 2.0.x has the fix, but it also requires updating to the unofficial 2.3.5 OTA upgrade.
CM7 is based on 2.3.4 kernel and seems to have the issue resolved as well.
I see. Well, thank you for your help. Sorry if this is a repeated topic.
I just got started in the whole root/flashing "scene" so I'll have to see what I can do about CM7 now.
For those that want to stay on the stock rom, the fix is here.
Thanks, I'll try this out later.
I could use it too but the download link is dead. Thanks
Tried using new file from updated link but it would not work. Hung up at installing. Had to pull battery to restart phone. Any ideas?? Thanks
Probably something wrong with Peppermint's script. I have the original one from my phone. You can give it a try if you want.

I bought my mother an x2, rooted and flashed CM7, she gets around 15 hours on the stock battery.
You will notice a huge change in performance, battery and more while you flash any ROM... Good luck, just follow the tutorials here in the forum.

Hey can anyone help with my battery prob? I got the extended battery from verizon I wiped battery stats after draining it fully and recharging fully twice. I'm running eclipse 1.3, speedy v7, and the cdma unthrottle mods. For some reason my phone eats this battery faster than my stock battery.

Hello All,
So I Bricked my Photon and i don't really know how. I believe it was me using an old version of cwm recovery instead of joker's updated ones but anyways. So i have been running miui for about a week now-and every day the random reboots got worse and worse and the updates wouldn't help. My battery also was feeding the phone random information as it went from 19 to 38 percent in a minute. So after it got to it's worst, it wouldn't even do boot logo unless it was plugged into a wall, my computer couldn't even start it. So now i am trying to do rsd lite to fix but i can't get it to boot unless it's charging on a wall. I am trying not to be too concerned but all responses are appreciated.

Does it boot into recovery?
If yes, try downloading Jokersax version 3 CWM and flash it. It's the only version of CWM I use, as I've never had a single problem using it.
Also, Do you have second battery you can test? Might have a bad battery if it's not doing anything unless its plugged in.
I just realized this is in the wrong section.
MODERATOR PLEASE MOVE TO GENERAL
But Bill, I'll try, see it's weird because the battery says it full charged in its unbolted battery indicator. But I'll try.
I figured out before it semi bricked that when I shake it that it turns off.
Thanks though!

Hey guys, I have gotten what I believe is a fix. I did what bill said and flashed joker recovery v3. Than after I flashed 0.6 and after getting a few random reboots I wiped dalvik cache and fixed permissions. Cross fingers but I think it might be fixed. Now I just have to figure out why I don't have service.
