I try to read it and my phone cannot nor can my pc it keeps poping up with the autoplay ever 25 seconds then it goes away after about 10 secs and 25 secs later pops back up, its not annoying at all. I just portioned it swap size 512 ext2 512 the rest fat32 and its a 2gb card? any ideas?
It didn't show up period, so I partitioned it again with 0swap and 0ext then it still didn't work, then I partitioned it 32mb swap and 0 ext and it started working again, there must be some gremlins f'ing with me.
what happens when you try to mount the sdcard on your phone?
and btw, im not sure if your ext partition is compatible with your computer
The pc can't see the ext partition, but it shows the rest of FAT partition so in computer should say something like 1.50 gb, not 2, after you mounted your sd-card did you restart your phone? usually the phone doesn't see the card before a restart. How did you try your sd-card on your pc? Through phone or a sd-card reader?

i am assuming that when you plug in your phone to the computer, it does not detect the sdcard unless you reboot right? how do you plug in your phone to the computer?:
a) do you plug one end into your phone first, and then connect the other end to the computer? or
b) do you plug the cable into your computer first, and then connect the other end to your phone?
when i do a), the phone is not detected unless i either reboot or detach the end connected to the phone and reattach it. however, when i do b, it does get detected.
i use my phone to connect my sdcard to my computer

Alright, I have a 2gb memory card which had worked fine until I started rooting my phone and doing all that stuff. Now the phone detects the memory card and it's working fine, but the pc detects that there's some storage thing but doesn't really recognize it. It doesn't even show how much space the card has or anything, it's just disk E. Yes, I do mount the memory card when it asks.
Are the drivers for your device installed on your pc?
I think so, yes. But just in case, where can I get a pc suite or something with the drivers?
I've just tried reinstalling amon ra, and the phone pugged to the pc just fine. I think this happened because of the phone reset. Someone had the same probem and says refashing heped him, but how can I reflash if I can't even put the zip file into the memory card?

What device do you have?
Vodafone 845/huawei u8120
Try placing your sd card in the card reader on your pc, then putting the rom on it so you can reflash it.
no micro sd card reader in my pc, only sd and others. And I don't have an adapter
sometimes when i connect the phone the memory card gets dec=tected but only for like half a second and then just doesn't recognize it anymore
Anyone? I press mount in the usb setting and the drive appears but when I click on it it says ''please insert a disk to drive J''. I've found some search results via google on this but nothing worked for me. My phone is vodafone 845
Dock SDCard not being recognisedr to recognise my sd card every time i push it in the notification area will flash but it never recognises my sd card. it's really annoying.
Anyone know how to fix?
I would reformat the SD card using your computer.
Save anything that might be on the card first, of course.
reboot? doesn't recognize my usb drive sometimes unless I reboot, likely due to file systems.
every time i unmount my sd card, there's no way to remount it on my nook tablet,
is there an app that help me do this?
(i just don't want to open the SD card slot)
on PC, there is an app called "usb safely remove" that can remount usb, sd card,....
and do i need to unmount sd card when i don't use it, if i just leave it there, will it drain my battery, or is it ok?
no one knows?
It's fine to just leave the sd card plugged in, shouldn't have any noticeable drain on your battery.

I have the same problem, If I unmount the SD card or physically remove from the slot with the tablet on, when I remount or insert the card again, all apps cannot see the card anymore even though under storage setting the card is shown mounted, I have to restart the tablet to make things go back to normal.
This is annoying because when I try to transfer files to the card via USB cable I get really slow transfer rates, like 2.0 MB/s taking forever when trying to transfer huge files, when I plug the card directly to my card reader I get 6.0 MB/s which is the card class speed.

when i made this thread i didn't have this problem, but now I do have the same problem as you.
I hope someone knows how to fix this.
There is an app called Script Manager (smanager) that you get from the google store. You can create a shell script that will mount your sdcard. That's what I did. I have my internal media partition mounted to /mnt/sdcard and I have my sdcard mounted to /mnt/sdcard/_ExternalSD.
I'm not sure why it isn't detecting your SD card after putting it back in though... unless you have it custom mounting somewhere and it doesn't like it. Are you "Unmounting" before you eject? If not, that could cause some error. Maybe grab catlog from the store and see what comes up in the log after you plug in the sdcard.
Hi all,
I've got a very strange problem.
my ext sd card gone crazy today.
I'm currently using the lates official stock rom and didn't have any problem untill this morning.
When I press either home or turn on button the lock screen turn on in 2-3 delay and got the following messages in the statusbar:
"preparing sd card"
"sd card removed"
"empty or corrupted sd card"
and the phone doesn;t recognize my card.
Sometimes I need to reboot, sometimes just use the home butten when lockscreen applied and ok.
I've got a genuine Sandisk 32GB class10 microsdhc.
What do you think guys?
That is more common that it should, unfortunately.
Your card is really corrupted, and I've had it happen to my about 4 times with the S II and once with the S III (with different brands and sizes of uSD cards)
What you should do is:
- turn off the phone and remove the uSD card
- using a card read (of any kind), insert the card in the computer
- Windows (if that's the case) will detect the card is faulty and will ask you to format the card. SAY NO.
- try to copy/backup whatever file you can from the uSD card to your computer
- after that, backup the uSD card using FAT32
- copy the files back from the computer to the uSD card
- insert the card in the phone and turn it on.
There's two ways to fix this eitger by replacing ur current sd card or formatting this one using a computer.

Thanks for the help.
So the card is almost empty, because I use dropbox and everything will be saved there,so I dont care if I loose everything.
what do you mean when you say"backup the uSD card using FAT32"?
how can I do that? I know how to format the card to FAT32/FAT etc but this is not clear for me.
1more thing:when my phone says"sd card corrupted" and remove it from the device and plug in to the pc the computer not recognize at all.I have to reboot my computer to recognize it...

sorry! I meant: format it using FAT32. don't do a quick format, but a full format (even although we aren't supposed to do that to flash media).

ok,thanks and I'll give it a try
tried all the supported.formats without any success...
phone keep saying "sd card removed" sd card empty" however if I connect to the pc while I got these messages at statusbar the sd card starts working the oc recognize it,I can copy/paste read to/from the card and when I unplug it from pc it works untill I use the lockscreen...and all the **** starts again...very annoying.
just tried with my old gs2 and works flawlessly...
Similar issue solved with chkdsk /f
I realize this thread has been inactive for a while, but I found it by doing a search in Google after having the same "SD card damaged" error and thought someone might benefit from some extra input.
I solved a similar issue with my SD card by mounting it on a Windows PC (which did recognize it, however as unformatted) and running a "chkdsk /f" command from the windows command line (note: my card was already formatted as FAT32 before the issue occurred). CHKDSK did the trick - it now mounts again flawlessly on Android and I am not missing any of the 20GB of data on it.
- First of all I admit it's my fault I wasn't paying attention..
- Second, I'm not sure if this is the right section to post this here, So pardon me..
- I was connecting my SGSII using the internal SD card as a USB mass storage.. a the same time I was connecting my Kingston USB flash drive.
- I wanted to format the Kingston flash drive and because I wasn't paying attention, and By mistake I right clicked on the SGSII internal SD card-> format->changed the file System from FAT32 to NTFS -> pressed start.
- It didn't take me long before I realized what I just did and more stupidly pressed the cancel button and unplugged the phone immediately.
- Now phone works fine but won't detect the internal SD card
- Phone used to auto-mount the SD cards automatically when connected to PC
-When connect it to the PC , It detects and mounts the external SD card and I can access it normally , But not the corrupted internal SD card appears as Drive ( J ) but when I click it, I get ( please insert a disk into removable Disk (J
- I'm unable to format or detect the internal SD card except it is shown as Drive (J) on the PC
- tried to re-mount it using CWM in recovery mode but no joy as well..
- Please skip the blaming part on how stupid I was and please advise if there is any possible way to fix this, make the Internal SD card detectable and mountable again.. then I worry about recovering the files..
try this, go to settings> more> USB utilities> click 'connect storage to pc'> click ok > connect USB cable> then click turn on. this should mount it hopefully and you will be able to reformat it to fat 32..hopefully!
Thanks for your reply, I've already tried that with no success
- However Issue is now resolved
- I tried again with CWM in the recovery mode, I tried random things such as try to re-partition the SD card..
- And when started the phone and tried to connect to the PC, got notification that SD card is corrupted and was able to format it
- Although now data is lost but now SD is detectable again..
- Now I worry on how to recover the lost data
