I wanna buy a case for my Atrix. My budget is small (around $5-$10).
So which one would you reccomend me?
Thanks!
I like the basic TPU cases. They don't add too much bulk and don't collect dust, but protect the phone from dings and scratches. They also have a lip around the front, so if the phone is set on a flat surface the screen won't actually touch the surface. It will make your phone somewhat warmer though, but pretty much all cases will probably do this, and it probably won't protect your phone as well as some of the larger cases. The case I use is $2.86 shipped from amazon and fits perfectly. I also have an otterbox but use the TPU case since its smaller, and doesn't collect dust like the otterbox. I know a lot of people like the otterboxes though. The jelly silicone cases are also dust collectors and tend to stretch after a while so I would advise avoiding any of those. If you look through this accessories forum you will see a lot of threads about cases that usually have reviews and pictures, so I suggest you read through some of those threads and find a case that looks good to you and sounds like what you are looking for from the reviews.
I would also suggest getting a screen protector. While the atrix does have gorilla glass, it is not truly unbreakable or unscratchable. While some may argue that its not really necessary, it costs a few dollars and has the potential to protect your phone's screen from scratches.
Great! Btw can you give me the product link you bought from Amazon?
I found this one: http://www.amazon.com/MOTOROLA-ATRI..._1_3?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1321000892&sr=1-3
But it says its a Gel Case (I don't TPU & Gel Cases are the same or not! )
If you need a strong case for a low price (there's better out there but well outside your price range) you can get a refurbished Otterbox Defender for $12 shipped:

Edit: Yes, I bought one from these guys. It's legit.

Mine's fine. I even broke the holster clip and Otterbox is sending me a new one. My point is that if there's something wrong with it their warranty will cover it. It's a good way to save money and maximize your phone's protection.
Besides otterbox isn't minimal in size! It needs some extra space around the phone which makes it bigger! I don't like it. I like a minimal one yet that would protect my phone. Just like roswellkidd says. TPU cases are good

The Impact case isn't as strong as the Defender refurb I listed earlier, but this is a lot cheaper and will most definitely save your phone from drops.
Should I go with a TPU case or this case? This still looks bulky! Besides, I think this won't perfectly fit into my pocket!
It depends on what your real need is. The Otterbox cases are for people who expect to drop their phone more often than others. I drop my phone at least once a day on hard surfaces and/or from insane heights (I'm a CATV installer that's clumsy with his phone). For a general user, the TPU case would be fine if you're not expecting to drop it a whole lot. It's also more fashionable, it won't make your phone look like it just Hulked out.
Personally, I'd keep a cheap Otterbox around in any case, you might need it if you're going to do anything daring. At least it wouldn't be a bad idea to have an Otterbox on a phone that may fall out of your pocket on a rollercoaster at Six Flags (happened to me without an Otterbox... I had to bury the phone).

I'm on this group. I take good care of my phone. Besides, I can live without case. Just need it to make it more durable. So I'd go with a TPU case. Thanks for helping me to take my decision. As I'm a teenager style does matter for me

My wife's probably at least twice your age and we still have to stylize her phone so I have to look at aesthetics every time I order a case as well
for your price range, you should just grab the refurbished deals posted.
or save up money and get a real case.
wow sorry I didn't get back earlier, I am actually too new to post links, but if you type in "atrix TPU case" into amazon you will see the TPU cases, that gel case you posted looked like a silicone case not a TPU case. Mine was the "smoke grey cruzer argyle" TPU case that is currently $2.86 with free shipping, although all five or so of the top results look like they are essentially the same, just different colors.
I hope I didn't talk you out of an otterbox in my first post, I personally was not satisfied with mine, but as you can see here most people love them. I also have never dropped my phone, so my case is basically just to protect it from dings and scratches if I ever do drop it. I don't expect it to protect my phone in a ten foot drop, but considering the highest I would ever have the chance of dropping it from in my daily routine is just a few feet, Ill take the slimmer case even if it does have less protection.
I, like many others, put in a vote for a TPU case... I have used the Otterbox Impact case, the rugged battery cover, and the TPU case...and the TPU case is by far may favorite. It offers ok drop protection, but mainly I love it becuase it's easy to get out of my pockets while the Impact or any rubberized case sticks to pockets making it really hard to get out in the car or while sitting in general. I think the atrix is a little too small without a case and the TPU case makes it slightly larger but not too large...it's the way to go.

hi there,
recently i encountered a iPhone that had on it an amazing case. the case was solid in my hand and felt like it count take on tons of damage. i really liked the case and was hoping to find one for the g1.
The case was made by otterbox but I looked on their site and they dont have any cases listed for the g1. has anyone found similar high quality cases to otterbox?
here is a link to the iPhone case so you can better compare.

My brother has that case, and I doubt you'll find anything like that for the G1. That right there is a DAMN nice case. It has a TWO cases. Inner case is plastic, and outer is rubber. Both nice and thick. Also a built on screen protector. Its just HUGE. As I said, though, don't expect anything like that for the G1. They have one for a myTouch, but I doubt it compares to the iPhone one.
For the most part you probably wouldn't need a case like that unless you are bringing your phone into a war zone. However, the G1 is a bit of an awkward phone in the way its designed. It has a strange sliding mechanism and that bizarre chin which makes cases a little more difficult to design. I've used a Fishbone case for over a year now. It is a hybrid silicone and hard plastic case, here is a link:
http://www.amazon.com/HTC-Titanium-..._1_3?ie=UTF8&s=wireless&qid=1279768828&sr=8-3
When I bought it over a year ago, it was around $7 for everything including shipping... the cost has gone up quite a bit for reasons unknown.
Alternatively you can try the metal cases
http://www.amazon.com/T-Mobile-G1-A..._1_3?ie=UTF8&s=wireless&qid=1279768873&sr=1-3
But this case actually doesn't allow you to use the touch screen nor slide the phone open, it locks in place, you have to unlock it and open the case to use your phone, it really is more of a carrying case rather than a protective phone cover.
Here is another one you might like, it is a full silicone case for the phone:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Soft-Silicone-S...ewItem&pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item1c0c6bbafa
The cost is okay, but after hearing some reviews from fellow members on the site, I would avoid getting the clear one, because apparently it has a yellowish tint to it.
Out of all these cases the only one I have used is the Fishbone case (and an Invisible Shield). You probably aren't considering an Invisible Shield, because they seriously ONLY protect your phone from scratches and nothing else, there is no impact resistance to it. It covers 95% of your phone, the 5% it doesn't cover is the corners of your phone, also the most likely places to get damaged when you drop it or just have it in your pocket.
So, again, I say go with the Fishbone case. It actually looks pretty cool, considering the G1 isn't a very spectacular looking phone in the first place. (don't get me wrong, I love my G1)
sweet thanks for the help!!
Yea well who knows, maybe I AM going into a warzone hehe.. Nah I just like the feel of that otterbox case.
Thanks for the heads up on that amazon case, I will check it out! And yea I heard those certain ebay cases are a wee bit yellowy.
I just got a GS2 and trying to decide whether or not to get a case. Do you guys suggest getting one for added protection from drops?
EDIT: Ok, clearly a case is necessary, but which one? I have an Otterbox Commuter on my iPhone and dig the feel and durability. I see many complaints about SG2 cases not fitting or not having the right holes. Which is the best case in terms of fit, durability, and feel?
I definitely would. Protects from scratches, marks, and dust. I wouldnt count on it to protect from a normal drop though. I would suggest the Otterbox Commuter (make sure its the ATT i-777 version)
It's a $500+ phone you have. If you're ok with it breaking, then go without a case.
That's not saying it will break. There are plenty of stories about how well this phone does when dropped.
But it's the same reason people wear seat belts. 99% of the time they don't do much. But that 1% when you're in an accident, you're really happy you had it on.
It only takes one bad drop to ruin your phone. And screens for samsung devices are super expensive.

Are you sure that Otterbox makes a case for the AT&T version? I checked around and only found a Commuter for International version.

This is going to depend a lot on how you use your phone. I am using the casemate barely there which provides a moderate level of drop protection while maintaining the slim profile and light feel that I really love about the Galaxy phones. But when I need to travel for work I put on the Ballistic case which has huge rubber corners and feels indestructible which is nice when you are moving around a lot and adding a much greater risk of dropping your phone. The otterbox commuter is a decent case, my wife has one on her iPhone 4. It seems to be a nice middle road between something like the "barely there" and the Ballistic.
Did you drop your old phone a lot?

There is a balance between protection and bulk in cases
I don't want a case that inhibits the phone from venting heat. And I don't want one that is too bulky. I've tried a lot of different cases, and this is the one that I like best:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/320771114659
Just don't drop it from too high above a floor that's too hard, and it should protect the phone OK. And at this price you can get a couple of them as spares, since they will crack occasionally.
The other thing about this case is the matte rubberized finish. Helps the phone to stay put in your pocket. It also makes the phone feel much more secure when holding it in your hand.
Here's a list of many of the available i777 cases:
http://www.traemcneely.com/2011/10/...i777-samsung-galaxy-s2-sii-cases-covers-sgs2/
The SGS ballistic case is way too big and the bumpers snag in your pocket. The case mate pop is great as long as you don't mind the shiny back scratching all to hell in two weeks. Also the grey plastic around the edge flakes off really easily. The commuter is smaller than both and likes to draw dust... The thin cases will never completely protect your phone. Always had otterbox, always will keep using otterbox.

TPU cases have a tendency to stretch if you take them on and off too much. I had one for about 2 weeks and it was already feeling loose and I was only taking it on/off about once a day.
And they attract lint like mad. The reason I was taking it off daily was to rinse it off.

35 bucks! Damn. Not any cheaper on Amazon. That's a bit too much for me.
Thanks guys for the tips. I ordered a couple cheap hard TPU cases like some recommended here to see how they are. Perhaps I'll need more protection and look into something else.
I didn't drop my old phone a lot, but I did once in a while drop it from my desk. I don't have insurance on my GS2 so I would like some protection in case it drops since the phone feels fairly fragile.
Can anyone recommend a middle of the line case between thin TPU cases and the Ballistic? I know Otterbox is along those lines but $35 is too much!

maybe the case-mate pop. conflicting reports on whether it has the right holes or not. it also has the built in kickstand

oh, also, the otterbox should come down in price soon, like the intl. GS2 version has.
I have the casemate barely there and the casemate and the casemate full version. Both work great and give flexibility.

The Case-Mate Pop! is the best I've found. It is a hard plastic case that is lined on the inside with rubber for shock absorption. It also has rubber inserts on the outside along each edge. Has a very solid feel with good grip. There is also a fold out stand but I don't really use it that often. Nice feature to have though.
It does add a little to the bulk of the phone but not as much as the Otterbox or other heavy duty cases. I found it a good compromise between size and protection. I think it's well worth it for something that fits perfectly and feels really good in the hand.
All of the holes line up perfectly on this case even it's categorized under the International SII. The noise canceling mike on top is included in the microphone cutaway. No noticeable difference in signal quality or phone call quality.
Sorry, tried to post a link but I'm too new. You can go to Case-Mate's website and look under the Samsung Cases, Samsung Galaxy SII, International version.
I have the Casemate Barely There Aluminum, SGP Linear, and some mesh one I got for $3 on ebay. Out of all of these I prefer the SGP Linear. It completely protects the phone, leaving no edges exposed, feels like quality, and keeps the slim profile of the phone. I had to make a little hole for the noise cancelling mic but that was easy.
Just bought the Silicrylic Incipio Case with the Silicone Core on Amazon (can't post the link due to restrictions).
Is it any good? I saw cases for 4-5 dollars, but I decided to bite the bullet and purchase this one for better protection. However, I have never used a case for my phones. I used a holster for my old school Storm, but stopped halfway through. Does this case feel good in the hand? Does it have bulk? Also, does it make the volume and power buttons easier to push? How are battery pulls?
It's a real good case, I have the gray one and its really nice and it fits the rezoned perfectly
I have the blk/blk and like the feel of it and knowing that it has some extra protection for my phone

My girl has the pink/white one. Feels a bit nicer and slimmer than my otterbox commuter case but i dont think it offers better protection than the commuter. Im liking the soft rubber feel on the hard case though. Oh and the ports are exposed whereas the ports are covered by a silicone flap on the commuter. To me, thats a huge + since im constantly in the outdoors getting my hands dirty.

since there doesn't seem to be a post about it yet...
the speck case that retail is carrying is wonderful. just like the atrix case, smooth on the back, raised rubber around the screen so it wont slide if you turn it over and doesn't add too much heft.
only downside is the ridiculous $40 they are charging for it. get it somewhere else unless you have a 50% premier discount.
on a side note, the screen protector they sell is actually pretty good too, i'm not noticing any difference in screen sensitivity.
I just the black and grey speck case today, will hold me off until a Ballistic or otterbox comes around.

I love the sgp screen protectors but think the speck cases are better than sgp. I bought a sgp hybrid case for my skyrocket and it was so bad I think I tried to give it away and nobody wanted it. I think I tossed it. I saw a girl drop her iPhone yesterday with a speck candy shell case and it bounced around and was fine. I purchased the Speck on impulse . It provides great coverage and I like it...except for the super easy scuffing on the backside of

When I picked up my preordered Note at the store they hadn't had any of the accessories on display. I was disappointed that the Speck case didn't come in a neutral white (I don't mind pink in general but I wanted white with grey interior not pink). Anyone know if the Speck case will come in more colorways?
I've quickly decided I don't like this case at all. Doesn't fit into any dock, and is a pain in the butt to remove and put on. One can argue that it shouldn't be easy to get a case off, but they make it extremely difficult to remove. Looking into that TPU case.
pics of speck case?
It is a nice case but $40 for a thin silicone liner covered by a shiny black shell? That complaint aside, it is a decent case that slips in and out of the pocket easily and does a nice job of protecting the mighty Note.
However, I do wish they would go with a less shiny, less scratch prone back.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Premium-Hyb...ccessories&hash=item2c62bc725a#ht_4614wt_1163 I like this one.... I love the double layers of the otterbox, but dont like the price. I usually buy a case at the att store, order a case from ebay, return the att case.
I bought this case while I was waiting for my sline case I ordered fro eBay to come in. The power button kept waking up my phone because the case made the button very sensitive. I took it off after 3 days because I decided I was going to return it. It also had gaps between the screen and the case that dirt and dust kept getting in. It was very hard to get on and off. Never been afraid of breaking my phone to take off a case before. I was also unhappy that it showed oil and fingerprints very easily. And apparently scratches very easy. I went to take it back to the ATT store and the greeter immediatley said let me see it because these cases scratch really easy and we can't take them back if they are scratched. He said yep see that there a couple scratches and we wont be able to return it.
Long story short I complained and got a discount but beware of this case. Be sure you like it for $40 and are willing to keep it before you buy it.

The case barely adds any size to the phone and let's face it the phone is big enough on it's own. The one problem I have always had was, TPU cases were hard to get on and off because they are a very tight fit. This was the easiest case I have had to install and remove which is good with the amount of battery swapping I will be doing. The case has a matte finish and is in black. The case has good access to the ports and including the stylus. There is no sticky plastic feel to this case like I have had with other TPU cases. There is a very smooth texture to the case. That might be the only complaint some people might have. Because the case is very smooth it might slippery for some people but I actually kind of like the feel of the case. The case can be purchased at http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=me=A2X1DSC0SAJ94E&field-keywords=i717 and you can get a discount if you buy 2 or more. For the price I like the fact that I am buying from a company in the US vs buying from Hong Kong and it's the same price you would probably pay on eBay but because they are US you will probaly get it a lot quicker.
looks like a nice case thanks for posting
Thanks
I thought I would give it a shot and review something I thought other owners would be interested in.
