change mac - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello I want to know how to change the mac address of an Archos 43 IT I heard of the technique to explore root will change the calibration file in / etc but I can not find it
thank you

1. of all - wich MAC u want to change? the NIC (Wifi Network) or Bluetooth
2. MAC is a Hardware Unique "Number" meaning it's saved on the hardwarechips - normaly can't be changed by software
3. I know there have been some spoofing tools around for "changing a MAC" addres but im not sure if we should help u with - as this is kinda hacking related - and just used for bull**** like "man in the middle" attacks and pretenting to be another machine... - so what do u need it for?

Clone MAC address

Hi,
I have strange internet provide that lets only one MAC address on network. Long story short, I have to change a Wifi MAC address on my 8525. Any ideas?
I would prefer something simple, maybe a simple aplication to do so.
I have read post like
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=322225
but, it is complicated, since I need to be able to change it back to original on daily bases with no access to external computer.
Thanks

Sadly that's the only way it can be done; the WLAN MAC address is stored at a fixed offset within the ROM - the post you mention above is a guide to patching the ROM to update it with the required MAC address.

1 thought as my cable provider is like that to a certain regard,
Get a wireless router. then register the mac of the router with the provider, everything else is transparent to the provider as it would appear to come from the router ans is all ip based, aqs no Mac based services ( ie: netbios ipx/spx ) are used on the internet only on local network
hope this helps

Change MAC Adress Permanently

Hi,
i tried to change my MAC Adress on the Galaxy s3 but none of the existing tutorials worked. The problem is i want to change the mac permanently. I already found a file in /efs/wifi/.mac.info but when i change the value and restart the phone it's set back to the old mac adress. The other tutorials are using nvram or something like that but i couldn't find that file. Do you have an idea of how to change this right?

[Q] Changing MAC on SK17i - GB ROM

Hey guys,
I've got questions about changing MAC on GB. Is there any way to do this?
On ICS I did that by busybox ifconfig or ip link set.
But I want to change to GB - Spartan v.2.2.0 ROM because of battery tweaks and performance, and here any of this methods aren't working.
When I turn off wifi it's suddenly gone by device. I tried to check by ifconfig -a or ip link show. But it's just doesn't be here...
I need to change, because I've got MAC block on my AP (it's from provider, so I don't want to change anything - in summer I'm going to buy router and configure it by myself).
Any advices guys?
Regards.

Xperia XA Ultra F3211 nvram warning

Hi there
I have rooted my Xperia and installed the Xposed Framework.
Then I realised that I got the nvram warning err 0x10 displayed at my wifi networks. Turned out that my wifi mac address changed after every reboot (when I disabled and enabled my wifi the mac did not change).
So I searched the internet and found some information. I edited the WIFI file in the /data/nvram directory using a hex editor and changed my mac address to one which does not start with 00:. Now the mac does not change after rebooting but I get a nvram warning err 0x02 :/
I can't find a solution for this and I find it kind of annoying.
1. Does anyone have an idea what I could try?
2. Is there any possibility to read my original mac address? I've tried some tools but they all just display 20:00:00:00:00:00.
Looking forward to get some usefull tips
I too get the same error wifi but i actually thought someone named it that way. Never had to connect tomit though.
Good luck

Change Wifi Direct name and password on Android 9?

Before I upgraded to Android 8 or 9 I was able to edit a file
p2p_suplicant.conf to change Wifi Direct name and passwords.
That's not the case on Android 9.
Where can I change these values?
I am running Android 10 on GP 3aXL. I have two Devices A and B connected via Wi-Fi direct. On device A, i have a proxy server running. I want to share my internet connection with device B. When i scan wifi on device B, I see SSID with the name of the remembered group on device A. I try to connect and it is asking me for the password. Where is this password info located? Tx.

How?? What do you have to change in p2p_supplicant.conf to change Wifi direct username and password?
I'm trying to tether wifi using wifi direct, I looked into this 2 yrs back, did everything I could to change pass so that, I get a fixed pass everytime, not a randomly generated one, but I couldn't get anything to work, I thought it's not possible and gave up
You're saying you've done that, I really want to know
