Has anyone successfully deodex the phone? - Motorola Droid RAZR

Has anyone successfully deodex their phone? If you're brave enough, please try to manually deodex it with xultimate. The guide can be found here
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/103-how-to-manually-deodex-your-phone/

im currently looking into dumping the recovery so I can modify the bionics bootstrap to work correctly on our phones, after that I may look into this.

Ok thanks. I would try it myself but the delivery has been delayed. Will only get my phone by tomorrow

It'd be pretty cool to be able to port the Roboto font to this phone while waiting for ICS...

[Q] Ordered Eris..couple Q's

Hey guys, so I just ordered an Eris which I intend to use on MetroPCS.
I just want to make sure that I'm doing all this in the correct order..
So, fist thing is that I need to make sure that the phone has 2.1 on it in order to use the 1 click root solution(love )
-Though if my phone isn't 2.1..how do I upgrade without rooting so that I can root?
Next, I need to choose a rom to use. I found the read first sticky listing all the most current roms and radios and other info on how to actually install them.
-Though, since the thread is closed are they really all the latest?
Lastly, I need to Flash (not sure if that is actually the correct terminology) the phone's settings over to Metro using the file found here.
I think that's the basic direction that I need to take. Please let me know if I'm missing anything.
I am in the dark about a couple things, though I'm not sure I need to understand them.
I know the kernel is a central part of the OS, but doesn't it come with the rom you choose? Why would you need to flash the Kernel, is it just to update your rom without actually changing your rom?
Also, what's with recovery images and what's an RUU?
Finally, how do I pick a rom that's right for me!? There seem to be so many and I'm not sure which are the most recent/functional/fast..
Anyway, you guys are awesome for all you do and I hope that this thread can be useful to someone besides just me.
Thanks again!!

Probably once you get the phone it will already have the 2.1 official OS or you can update it through the Settings and have it check for updates. I would suggest that you try xtrSense. I have no clue on the Metro settings though but I would imagine once you get a good ROM flashed that all you have to do is to just install the settings.
Thanks, yeah..I think that link that I posted takes care of the metro settings..at least it says it does.
I didn't think I would be able to do an over the air update because I was assuming that it was DL'd from a verizon server. Does the update to 2.1 come from a typical internet source that can be accessed from any network?

Themes for stock rooted ROM

Hello guys, I was just wondering whether there are any themesout working for the stock ROM. I actually want to change my taskbar look without modifying the whole ROM. I have rooted my phone and installed the mik_os kernel (God bless him).
Any suggestions?
As far as i know... that involves working through odexed files and since if you change the stock color... you'll have to setup the text colors too and THAT is the real pain in the ass if you have no ideia how to do it! (like meeeeee )
Even with tutorials for unexperienced ppl it basically involves you messing with the stock rom and deodex the specific files afecting the status bar and it's texts like the Framework ALL BY HAND! too much hassle if you're a noob, like me!
Basically you can't put themes that change the system setup without "deodexing" the ROM files you have to! That means you would be, in a way, "coocking" your own rom! and therefore it would not be a "stock" rom any longer!
Easiest solution is to get a custom rom that best suits your needs and with said theme you want OR.... make a nand backup of your ROM and go learn how to change and edit the files you need to place a new theme on your ROM and... flash it!?
Last case scenario but highly improbable... get ahold of your current ROM version, the official ROM for your specific phone model and ask somebody you may know or learn it how to do it your self and after you work it out! flash it!
I think there ARE videos on youtube about it but like i said... it's NO amateur stuff believe me!
Either Way remember to always backup your current ROM in case something goes wrong you can always restaure it!

[Q] Consequences of rooting my rezound

Hey guys, Im completely new to rooting and im getting a rezound in a couple days and i just had a few simple questions that i couldnt find the answers too else where.
1. If I root my rezound will i still be able to receive all the regular updates like the verizon updates and upcoming OS updates? If not what can i do to get those?(Correct me if im wrong but I would assume that i would have to reverse my root somehow if the answer was no but im not sure how to do that)
2. If i root do i have to install a ROM?(Note:Im planning to remove htc sense as soon as i root and install a new launcher...idk if that has anything to do with having to install a ROM but i figured i should ask)
if you plan to stay on the original rom after you root, im pretty sure that you will be able to recieve the actual ota when its released. but you say that you plan to delete a lot of htc stuff (im assuming bloatware and things like that)...i would HIGHLY recommend just flashing a rom with all of that done for you. unless you know what youre doing, removing htc stuff by yourself can be detrimental to your phone and cause it to not work as it should. im currently running cleanrom 4.1 and its incredible. flashing a rom would be the best way to go
hope this helped.
yes that help, thanks. so if i were to use cleanrom 4.1 and i wanted to get the official ICS update when it released, what would have to do to be able to install it?
Forgive me for being a noob but I am going to attempt my first post I usually just read but feel I may be able to give a quality answer. SO, If you make a nandroid backup before flashing any rom's you will be able to revert back to stock at any time. You can do this via a custom recovery. In order to get an OTA, like the ICS one that is coming soon, you will have to reload your stock rom. Simply put, you cannot get an OTA with a custom rom. If you want a custom rom now and an OTA update later, make a backup and revert back to it when the OTA you want is released. Hope this helps!
One thing that nobody seems to ever mention is do NOT do anything to your phone for the first 30 days because you want to make sure you have a solid phone.
If your phone is constantly malfunctioning because of a problem with the phone, but you have already rooted your phone and flashed a new ROM, then you're going to be nothing but frustrated because you will think it's the ROM, or perhaps something you did when rooting the phone.
If you have a problem within the first 30 days and you have not rooted or flashed a new ROM all you do is walk in to Verizon, tell them the phone is brand new, but having issues with [insert problem here] and you get a brand new phone with all your info transfered for free, and another 30 days to make sure your replacement is not defective as well.

very good tips! thanks guys, your answers are highly appreciated!

What device are you coming from? I went from an OG Droid1 to the Rezound and actually love Sense. I think you should try it out first before cutting it out completely. If you wish you can leave the stock Status Bar/SystemUI and install a different launcher as that will disable most of the Sense elements, ~90% of it. As far as OTA's go, unconfirmed whether or not you can update from the recent leak. Make sure you have stock rom available or do not flash the recent leak and choose one of the older roms (Can always RUU back to the stock rom when official hits). I suggest Rezrom 3.1 with the old firmware patch as for me it's been so far the most stable and best battery life ICS rom I have used.
1. No, you won't be able to get OTA updates. But don't worry too much about that. It takes about a week, but the devs will post a manual method or you can use the RUU that usually preceeds the OTA by a day or two.
2. Don't try to disable sense from the stock ROM. It'll be trouble, I tried it for a while back when we only had temp root and it made it buggy and smoked the battery. Flash some ROMs and let the pros get that stuff worked out for you (and throw your favorite dev a few bucks to keep him interested!)
The real consequence of rooting though is the countless late nights flashing yet another new build or theme or whatever. It's kind of addicting.

Nook tab recovery flasher that works with 1.4.3?

Anyone know where I can find one? I see the older ones might not work with the new NT OS upgrade. I tried to look around for one but I am a bit of a novice and didnt want to brick my tab. Any advice?
ALso, I plan on using CM9 as my custom rom so one that might work with that as well? Thanks so much!

battery % mod

not to steal stuff. if you guys are here i assume your looking for stuff like this and this is the best place to put it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2187583
its a battery % mod made by he_stheone64.
this is HIS work i'm just letting you guys know its compatible for us. you have to reroot for some odd reason though. he might have changed some packages.
i can confirm the 1.27 odexed works for our phones. i wouldnt try any of the other ones since they are international version and no idea if they touched the framework when they updated it.

Tried on M7 Stock Rooted 1.27.531.7 GSM Odex & DeOdex, didn't work. Lost the status bar altogether. if you wanna try, ensure you do a nandroid backup first
