Siyah kernel. Most popular kernel for sgs2 at the moment. Unified kernel, can be flashed on any Samsung based rom or aosp roms like miui and cm7.

Well, it depends on how wisely you undervolt and also make use of many no of features this kernel offers. I haven't used miui. So i don't know if something specific, like media scanner running endlessly or something that's causing battery drain.
I'm on gingermod rom. With siyah, battery is really good. See this (my own ) post about some of the features for saving battery in Siyah, that the dev has incorporated. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19231855&postcount=9615

Reviving an old thread.... now that MIUI hmade the jump to ICS.... which kernel do you recommend?

which is the best rom for ace for battery???

hi any one which is the best rom for ace for long battery life??please thank u
I can say that it certainly isnt FirstUA rom, but I do use it because it's good overall. Calibrated the battery 3 times (and discharged/recharged), battery consumption still high.
Right now, it's definitely the official firmware releases.
KPN, KPJ, KPL, KPE.
Every custom ROM or modified ROM I tried, all drains battery fast.

certainly the oficial roms are the best regarding battery life (not so long though)
i tried almost every custom rom , and i can tell u that till now the best i have is coderom v2 b2 , better battery life (still less than the oficial) and best performance and stability. i love it!
KPH and coderom2x are the best in battery backup, and I think coderom is even slightly better

Even though its a good kernel, still doesn't beats franco.kernel smoothness, in fact i've never been able to achieve franco level smoothness with any other kernel except franco itself...
With franco i get "iphone" smoothness level on contacts and settings menues, and many apps, statusbar etc..

I was suggested to use ta-gb 1.1 + hotfix kernel (as bug-free and for good battery life) but I cannot find this specific version of the kernel. Could someone give me a link or upload it please so that I could give it a try?
Between the kernel I was suggested to use and the latest, which one do you think is better in terms of battery life and less bugs? And what is the difference between the two latest releases (10/4/2012 and 18/4/2012 <-What is this kernel)?
edit: This was the result after flashing the second one:

The 18/04 version has battery fixes, but also included genlock and New GPU drivers which come from 3.0 kernel.... and BTW, i'm rebasing on tagb, so don't worry, i will fix all that bug

I think, t.a gb 1.1+hotfix is based on franco's touch drivers. I have used almost all kernels so far and I think at present Roq XIII with t.a touch drivers are the best in terms of smoothness, stability and battery. Use the conservative at 480/600. Even the t.a 1.1+hotfix is superbly smooth and has superb battery. But it has a bug that when after using gps the battery drains even if the gps is turned off. Franco kernel has multiple issues 1) Frequent reboots during calls 2) Cameranot working after first use...and many other issues.
Roq xIII with t.a touchfix is as smooth as the iphone. Only thing is you have to tweak some settings on the cynogen power menu, spareparts+ and blade buddy I also moved the default launcher (Go Launcher) to my /system/apps to have the smoothness I get now. Smoothnesss cannot come just by installing the kernel. You have to tweak settings...
pradipsoman could you please verify if the kernel that you uploaded here is the 1.1 you are suggesting? The filename is v1.2 but I have to ask because it could just be a typo. What is your experience on the current version of thunder-vn? Do you still think the older 1.1 version of thunder-vn is better than the current one and why? offtopic: One more think, is Roq xIII as good as described on stock 2.3 rom? Or is it one of those kernels made for custom roms?
@ thachtunganh So what happened to my device (stock 2.3)? Are these drivers meant to be used on ics based roms?

Yes, but no more now, go to the theard again and you will see the new kernel
I was away from XDA from 1 month....
So, I want to know can thunderVN 1.02 be used on latest hehappy's cm9 build??
Will everything be functional???
Thank YOu!
It's too soon for your second question to be answered. It's been a few hours since the kernel was released. If you give it a try there will be one more tester to give feedback.
I just flash the last kernel on hephappy's last build (youlookbeautiful) and i got stuck in lg logo

I think you can now use Thundervn Latest Release from TA Have tested it and now it does not have the wifi bug (only bug that t.a 1.1+hotfix had). It is smooth as butter and has excellent battery. Lets experiment further...
I'm testing it too. I'm satisfied by the smoothness too but how did you make a conclusion that soon about the battery life and the lack of gps bug?

On the latest 1.02 version is the above bug considered to be present? I get 7MB/s write and 15MB/s read speeds. If these are slow, what speed would be normal?

Try to use franco kernel conservative or roq kernel with thachtungahn ts drivers
http://www.mioptimusone.com/foros/showthread.php?tid=646
In my opinion, roq kernels are very good!
If you want more performances, try pp kernel
http://perfectpeso.x.gg/
It's quite good too, maybe a bit less battery friendly
Of course, tin order to increase performances, you have to flash some tweaks, you can find them here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529777
I guess u can try something like a modified stock version.
Ex: Resurrection, Optimus1 origins etc,,, which not only give you better battery life but also the feel of a custom ROM. I personally like the Optimus1 Origins 2.1 version as it is quite stable.
Sooner or later, everyone should realize that no rom is perfect as the definition of perfect varies for everyone. With that being said, a stock rom (or a slightly modded one) would be very suitable.

Hey guys thanks for the advice I'll try these roms but I would rather prefer default stock rom with some tweaks like changing kernel!!! I didn't like optimus origins cuz I get an error of some setting force close and apn problem in saving!!!!!

use openoptimus rom by bytecode.Best custom rom based on stock.
Best Rom for Battery Life?
The Talhos Rom GTR is the best so far, anyone think the same?
Tested many kernels......
I have tested many kernels and stock based roms......
I think Dynamite 4.5G and ta-gb 1.2 is the best combination...
Also DjNoxd kernel works well....
Franco kernel gives gr8 battery life.....but has bugs like random boots and storage card not detecting wen exit frm mass storage mode.....(can use if u want battery and have wifi to exchange files)
RoQ kernel is gr8 performance but battery life is not that good....(gr8 for gaming)
I recommend dynamite bcoz it is already tweaked and camera n other stock apps work gr8....

That's why I use Optimus Origins 2.0 version (sorry as I said 2.1 earlier by mistake) The latest update has that force close bug but the 2.0 is pretty smooth. And regarding APN, you just need to send a message to your operator in order to get the apn settings and once you get it, you can back it up for future use.
I use Optimus Origins 2.0 with the ICS theme (created for Dynamite) and I can't ask for more
+1 for Dynamic rom 4.5G. The battery life so good.

[Q] Problem of Random Reboot

Hi friends Iam currently on Simplistic Rom v4 with S3 theme and siyah kernal 4.1 ..
I have been facing an issue of random reboots and rapid battery drain..
I tried to changing the kernal governors to lulzactive and scaled down the cpu speed to reduce the rapid battery drain but everything in vain..
Is there anyway to solve this issue? Can i flash it with some other kernals like speed mod to solve this issue?
Earlier I was using my stock rooted ICS and CM 9.0 in dual boot mode and i never experienced such random boots and battery drain..
I love this rom so much coz of its kies support,S3 UI/apps and Iam in no mood to change the ROM..
Someone help me out guys...

Anything could be causing your battery drain.
Easiest fix for now if to flash a another kernel.
If the problem then persists,, There will be need to find out what's causing the battery fascism.

first if the rom is not optimized to wrk on any kernel then u will face all these issues, and also playing around with CPU and GPU settings will not give u any good battery life, unless ur sure of those settings.
hence the stock settings are always best with any Custom Kernel for sure
