the sim tray on my ace is broken.
solder new is not the problem but the vcc signal came from the backside of the circuit board.
on the picture you can see the lower left is the vcc pin and there is a very little contact thru the backside.
but on the backside i cant see this contact, so i must search where the signal came from.
can anybody give me a tip for what i have to look?
... sorry a cant make picture link, is forbidden

I noticed a weird connector at the back of the device, I dont have a way to picture it at the moment but I found it on the internet.
Its under the cover in the red circle I draw,
Do any of you know what its good for?

I think it is for attaching a stylus. You just loop the thread through it and close the cover.
It's meant for a wristband. You can buy the accessory, loop it through that hole, and then close the back cover (so it never falls off).
Are you sure about it...?
I think you're wrong,
the wristband/small things you put on your phone like small dolls is the yellow square
this one is something different.
It its a connector for an external gsm antenna. However be warned, do not plug any thing in to it as others have reported this will disable the internal antenna and you will not get a signal afterwards without a visit to a service centre or some soldering.

I've seen that type of connector on other phone's in the past. I always thought it was for an external antenna. I'm not sure though.
Edit: mrm1 just beat me to it ^^^
That was my first impression, after seeing a similar connection for the wifi antenna in laptop's hardware..
Thanks, and of course, Im not planning to connect anything to it anyway
Hello xda I hope you can help me out.
I have just replaced my screen with a screen bezel off ebay. I managed to bend the plug on the top end of the white wire that runs up the Left hand side of the phone while trying to disconect it with a pair of plyers because its all I had.
I have put the phone back together and it seems to be working fine. I have wifi and microfhone works.
I am just wondering what that wire is for and if I need to get another one on order?
BTW the wire is not connected but the phone works fine as far as i can tell. I still have no signal, as it stuck on emergancy calls and has been for weeks due to no vodafone tower working in my town at the moment.

I already had no signal on vodafone. I had emergancy calls full bars before I pulled the phone apart. The plug on it is bent, simply wont fit back onto the board at all, tried for ages.
Anyone knwo where I can order a replacment?

Hello
I have read that this is the antenna wire and it helps reception maybe even connection at all
I had the same problem with my old HTC ,the wire and the connectors in the galaxy s2 looks the same only its white
I bent the connectors and it couldn't fit anymore but i managed to bent them again with a needle and pliers so the wire could fit again, just take your time with it.
I opened my tablet to try and fix the signal strength on my wifi and gps. everything was going great until my screen turned a little and bam... the ribbon cable came out of the connector. When I went to pry the lock up it broke(very cheap connector). I tried to insert the ribbon back in but I noticed when some of the black plasctic that broke away there were wires that seemed to run through it. Anyway long story short. Can I remove the connector and wire the ribbon to the board? Is there anyway to fix it other than ordering a new pcb board? Any ideas would be appreciated. It is working now but there are spots on the screen that do not accept input or touch. I have used electrical tape to tape it in place for now. Thanks inn advance!
Sorry bro I think your s.o.l. those ribbon s are not really repairable and the main display one j think has 24 connectors or so. Soldering those is next to impossible. Same with the touch panel ones.

Experienced an external aerial connection problem on my phone after being told to connect an external connector to line-up a signal mast receiver - my big mistake, as clearly it very easily damages this connector even with a "recommended" connector !! Anyway I found a thread on this site about replacing the damaged connector - it was great information and photo - thanks Doc.
The old connector was unsoldered OK and a wire link put in. However, I only now get an intermittent signal (on the signal strength icon). When I inspected the circuit area I notice that there is a component missing from that shown in the Doc's pictures. Not sure if it was missing before I did the work or if the heat of my micro soldering iron dislodged it. Anyway - does anyone know what it is? I'm guessing it looks like a capacitor or resistor, and if so what value is it so I can look to solder one in (if my hand is steady enough). I've circled it in red, and an arrow pointing to it where it should be. Cheers.
You need the service manuals, there's parts lists & labelled photos in those. They've been posted here before in the past, do an XDA and/or a Google search & you should be able to dig them up easily enough.
Thanks

Thanks - got the service manual OK, but it does not give actual component values (only states that it's an inductor). I'll do some more digging via Samsung spares as the manual quotes a part code. Cheers.
Hi there.
I have a G5 as my backup phone. Recently, I've replaced the fingerprint scanner (it stopped working as a button, no cleaning would help, so I've bought new part online and replaced it), and after that I have no signal (-1dbm 99asu). Not even an alarm call is possible.
From my research, the antenna module is the bottom slice of the phone, you attach the battery to (one with mic, USB-C and bottom speaker)? I have both original bottom part and a Cam+, no signal on either of them. Where else should I look for any damage, that would lead to my problem - no signal at all?
I have a similar problem. The signal is very low everywhere, I tried to clean all the contacts between the bottom part and the phone, and nothing changed.
Me too i have a problem with the signal since display change. How can i get it fix. The phone has very low signal and it has network only on 3g on LTE it hasnt any network and 2g signal doesnt have.

Well, the pcb or mainboard has a small flex type antena on the back of it, it's black and has some lettering on it and it connects using coaxial type push connectors, also the phone connects to the aluminum case via some exposed pins on the mainboard, the case acts as an antenna also, if you need pictures I can take some tomorrow, I work in a cellphone shop and I fix an LG g5 almost every day, we have some main boards laying around, you most likely bent one of the pins that connects to the case
nah i got the same problem here after disassemble the phone. I already clean all things that contacted with the backdoor or with mainboard but the problem still there. Only got 0-1 bar of 4g even it near the tower until it change to 3g with the same condition. but the 2g signal is always full bar.
