Hi, can someone who has the US version of Galaxy Player 4.0 (yp-g1cwy/xaa) please make a flashable rom backup of the firmware and upload it?
Thanks
I have access to a 4.0 player recently bought from amazon. How would I go about dumping the rom? Would this also dump the persons information with it or is the memory range limited to just the rom?

You will need a rooted device first, but that can be easily done if you just search around the forums.
Twobits, or anyone could you please make the firmware from the guide given?
The other day I let my friend use my player, and he was stupid and opened titanium backup and accidentally deleted a whole bunch of system apps. I had not backed then up yet, and so now my device is super buggy and many things don't work right.
Just use terminal emulator from the market and first type "su" (you need to root your device first), then copy paste those commands under system, kernel, and recovery to create three files on the root directory of your phone. Then can you upload them to a site (such as mediafire, megaupload, etc) and post or pm me the links?
Thanks. I would really appreciate it if you could help me.
Can anbody please help me?
I really need the firmware urgently.
Thanks.

follow this guide:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1082288
for the system instead of stl10 its stl9 and for kernel its bml7 instead of 8.
l (minus L)
from choucas06:
But you only have to make a backup a of the Sytem and the Kernel (recovery is not needed).
To backup the system, the correct command for YP-G1 is :
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/stl9 of=/sdcard/factoryfs.rfs bs=4096
For the kernel, it is :
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/bml7 of=/sdcard/zImage bs=4096

When odin recognize this mode it's a form a download mode. At this point you have 2 choices.
1. send to samsung for a little fee
2. hope for someone to backup a rom
I would like to help you but I have a non-US player (maybe that depends of what you have)
I have backup files I did with terminal emuator, don't know what to do with them though, I read you need to have linux to make a backup rom, I only have windows.
Why would samsung charge, isnt it under warranty?

You can just upload the files, and I have Linux and will make then into a ROM for everyone who needs it.

Hi, appreciate help, but I think I got it using cygwin.
Now it fails flashing at recovery.bin, though.

From what I heard, you don't need recovery.bin, you just need the 2 other files die your ROM.
klin1344;
did anyone ever send you the rom? I am desperate and am willing to download a file that takes a day or two on my stupid internet!
Could someone at least post the pit file for 4.0 2.3.5?
Edit; ok, now I really need pit file, tried one from a guy at anythingbutipod, but guess what, now I get big red errors about "E:\"
Need real pit file please!

If you have the errors about E:. It's good because I have already have it. To remove it you need to wipe your data and cache (factory reset) because you are already in recovery menu.
Hope it's helps!

HI. I was playing around with my locked down Verizon Galaxy Note 2. I managed to unlock it. Well, I flashed a bootloader for this device and ended up bricking it. so I need some files that aren't usually needed.
SMDHDR, EFS, BOTA0 and BOTA1
if someone could, please do the following:
Code:
su
cd /dev/block/platform/dw-emmc/by-name
dd if=./BOTA0 of=/sdcard/bota0
dd if=./BOTA1 of=/sdcard/bota1
dd if=./SMHDR of=/sdcard/smhdr.bin
dd if=./EFS of=/sdcard/efs.img

No. I posted in THIS forum because I need these files.
Can someone help me out? I really need these from an i9300 to get the device operational for re-exploit and conversion back to a GNote2!
I'm bricked with nothing on-screen and according to UART, I'm missing these files and it is failing to flash anything.
Is there an IRC or something available? running the commands in the first post and posting them takes 5 minutes.
Anyone? This device is totally dead right now. I need the files from the first post and it's really quick to do. I've got a ton more work to do AFTER i get this device operational and it will eventually extend back to the i9300.
Wait.. EFS? Isn't that the img with the imei and stuff?

yes. I don't have a valid one for this device. I don't need it permanently, just to get a boot.
There is no SMDHDR on my i9300. Uploading the other 3 files now.

Adam - I can get you stuff from my i9300 as well as a T-Mobile SGS3 I have laying around.
Edit: Sent you a link to the i9300 minus the SMHDR
Edit2: And on the i9300 the location is /dev/block/platform/dw_mmc/by-name

the help is much appreciated as I had been hacking at it for two days. it was not easy finding the firmware but I eventually found it and it is now backed up in a safe place with a proper name. Tablet is running like brand new. although I like my new Nexus 7 a lot more. learning that I just had to install the firmware and not a ROM made all of the difference. I was about to give up but I have never given up in the past and I'm not about to start. I was a little more patient but I was finally able to get it back up thanks to your advice.

There are much ROMs for your device so you can choose which one you like best.
I prefer to Flash one by one and not to listen to user Reviews because then you can test yourself!

Frist: I thank u from the bottom of my heart :good: SasaKovacic :good:
Seconde: ur intructions were very clear i did exactly what u told me to do
Third: for everybody else if ur Samsung is stuck on boot screen and u have access to DownLoad Mode
well just download a rom (for ex: I9000XXJVQ.zip) unzip it (u'll get tar or tar.md5 files) now open odin
in PDA put the CODE file, in Phone put MODEM file, in CSC put CSC file and the pit must be 512 (u'll find it with odin or with the rom its a .pit file)
and u hit start and dont unplug the phone till it reboots. and that would be the solution to UNStuck ur Galaxy S GT I9000.

I did a windiff on our 2 analysis files and the only difference was the file names and dates.. shouldn't they have had some variance due to 32 vs 16 gb?
The only issue is none of these are samsung signed so they fail the usual ODIN method.

Samsung has to release one. I have the Source but it doesn't seem to be anywhere obvious.
Or we find a way to flash the PIT without signature analysis.
Here is mine. I guess it is only useful for ppl who is from Turkey cos Samsung created a model which called sm-p602 only for here (Which is almost same with p601 but dont have phone call feature. Meanwhile i am trying to port p601 firmware to this device but i dont have a useful pit. I tried lsherif's pit file yet seems like there are a problem with the pit cos it is not re-partitioning my device and also when i check with pit magic i got error. So an 16 gb sm-p601 pit will be useful if someone upload

Sorry to ask such a stupid question...but what the heck does a PIT file do that helps out? Not trying to be an ass, just don't get it. Or is it just another name for the firmware file?
don't recall it being called a PIT when i was working on my previous samsung devices anyways....i had one of these tablets but returned it because there was zero dev going on - now there's a small amount, but it's just not seeming to be worth the huge cost of the device to me. Which sucks, because it's a killer unit... if samsung was to release the LTE model in north america then that would be more alluring... HEAR ME SAMSUNG? RELEASE IT DAMNIT!
Hello i tried to execute the script but it doesn't work. I see cmd screen opening and closing very fast. Can somebody make a tuto to extract .pit file.

The PIT Files are essentially useless unless we find a signed version or another method of flashing it to the device.

You need a proper root - Super SU; a proper installed Busybox then plug it into PC, open EFS professional or some program that allow to extract all partition you need. That's at least thing I knew from owning Note 2.
