Hey gentlemen, I'm stock rooted. Any time I try to download a file, such as a zip for a rom from an xda link, I get a download error immediately. Doesn't matter if I'm on network or WiFi... At one point I was able to. Pretty sure I have not changed anything that cause this. Also tried downloading files using other than stock browser. Ant help would be appreciated, thanks.

I'm not sure why but I had this same problem. It is nice to be able to download rome right to the phone and not use the computer. I don't know if it did this when it was stock or after I rooted it but I just downloaded an app called "download all files". Haven't had any problems since.

Perhaps if you were more specific I could give you some tips to try.
What kind of ROM are you using? (stock, custom (if custom which one?)
Did you try downloading from Market when you first got the phone with 100% stock rom?
Have you installed any 3rd party apps since you purchased the phone?
Have you ever downloaded anything with your i777 sucessfully using WIFI?
Is your phone rooted?

I don't know the whole reason either but for me it depends on what I download. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Not sure if it depends on what file server they have it in and that's why it works sometimes. I usually use other browser such as opera mobile or dolphin HD to download things from. If it doesn't work on stock browser try another browser.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
Yep... Stock browser doesn't support zip file and other downloads. Download all files should fix the problem

I recomend using dolphin browser hd. You can download any type of file also tabed browsing like a computer . Much much much better then stock and simple to use. Ive been using dolphin since the htc hero came out.

I still have a good amount of storage. Is there a specific folder that has a specific amount allocated to it, and I have filled it?
On a side note... Holy crap, the DPI of my phone is insane.
Edit 1: ... I just realized that the alert covers the storage usage... the middle one does to the edge of the alert.
37 reads, and nobody knows? I must have a unique problem
As far as space goes, what does it say under Settings/Applications/Manage Applications?
Does it differ from what you see in TB at all?
No difference. could it be a problem with the market? I wonder if there's a way to dump application process info. Is that what logcat does?
Nobody? Wow... Its getting extremely irritating now. I literally can't download any applications. I kinds want this fixed because I just bought titanium backup pro, and I can't download the new normal titanium backup.

Try and clear Dalvik Cache in recovery.
IF that works (or any other method works), get CacheMate and let it clear all unneeded caches.
If you download an .apk file from a website and put it on your SD card, can you install it? (aka, is it ONLY market that is failing?)
(If you can install .apk from SD card, try and get CacheMate this way and let it run, might help)
Yes it's only the market. I've updated Pokemon online from the downloaded apk.
Are there any apps that will clear the cache as needed without the recovery? Hmm... That might be a dumb question being that market has been failing. I guess there appropriate question is; are there any apps available on the internet that clear the cache add needed?
Also, do you mean cwm for recovery?

I used can recovery to wore there Davlic cache, but it did not work. I might have an idea though. I downloaded an OTA update, but I didn't apply it. Could this be the reason? I was able to download stuff before, but not after the OTA was downloaded.

as stated a couple hundred times around this forum section:
dont use rom manager
I'm not sure how far this warning extends as I'm new to android with this phone, but if you see the sticky at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1288112
Big red letters say not to use ROM Manager.
That said, if you open ROM manager, choose "Backup ROM". It will reboot and give you the screen with the green droid and triangle exclamation point. At that screen, press power button and it gives you the CWM Recovery menu. Use volume buttons to select "backup and restore", then home button to choose it. Then home again to pick "backup" on the next screen.
Once done you can go back to the main screen and choose to reboot from there.
Edit: Looks like PirateGhost beat me to it.

i dont understand how hard it is to comprehend......if ROM manager is giving everyone problems, DONT USE IT. if it was working for you then it stopped, DONT USE IT
pretty cut and dry....
until there is proper implementation of ROM manager, DONT USE IT
re: rom manager
Here is a app which can replace Rom Manager until they update it to be
completely compatible with our new phones.
Download link: http://www.wuala.com/jgmoreno75/Sams....5.apk?lang=en
It does basically all functions of rom manager and many more which rom
manager cannot do. About the only thing I cannot do is to download roms.
Check it out...
Also PLEASE if you are a NOOB reading this please don't post anything pertaining to Rom Manager.
It's just a waste of time since it's not needed at all for doing anything that we do here and there is
NOTHING in Rom Manager which is a requirement for flashing, backing up, restoring, installing or
anything else having to do or pertaining to our Samsung i777 phones..
So let's all just forget that rom manager even exists for now

I came across this Ice Cream Sandwich boot animation adjusted for the Note, and thought I would share it with you guys.
Thanks to febycv for the original animation as found on the Galaxy Nexus.
Thanks to aussiebum for adjusting it to fit the resolution of the Galaxy Note.
Original Thread
**You MUST have root access, as found HERE**
Download Here!
Installation Instuctions:
1. Download sanim.zip to a directory on your sd card
2. Using root explorer or another root file explorer, place the sanim.zip file in /system/media/
3. Reboot, and enjoy this delicious boot animation!
I take no credit for creating or modifying this boot animation.
Hmmm, doesn't seem to work for me.
If you rooted using Da_G's Pre Rooted kernal, then make sure it looks exactly as it does in this picture. And try setting permissions to rw-r-r. If you rooted using a different method, maybe try naming it "bootanimation.zip". Hope you get it working.

I got the same thing when I tried it yesterday. My phone was running DAGr8s saurom. Had to restore as well. Haven't retried it since.

For those who can't get it to work, what ROMs are you running?
Stock using Mashi's rooting method. Set permissions and didn't seem to do anything using either file name.
I believe that the problem is because you didn't use Da_G's Pre rooted kernel. If I remember correctly, custom boot animations need be be enabled at the kernel level, which is what Da_G has done with his rooting method.

Situation:
-I have a rooted device Samsung Galaxy Ace [GT-S5830L] Android 2.3.4
-I accidentally deleted with Titanium Backup my default browser [Internet 1.0 (1)]
-Therefore I installed Dolphin which is not that bad.
Problems:
-Now wherever I try to watch any youtube video I'm just able to see the loading circle without loading the video.
-I can't use the default browser.
-I lost the voice app to type.
I've tried without good results:
-Use my friends phone [exact same one I have] did a back up with Titanium Back up, copy the backup to my phone and tried to restore.
-I downloaded several [internet.apk] [browser.apk] for my phone and tried to install with Optimize toolbox and from manage applications.
Screen capture when I tried to open.

So for the file to be accepted by the phone you need to change the file so it has system access. That feature is built in on most root file explorers

If you still have the zip file from your rom, you can copy the original files from it to your phone.
It should be in /system/app (copy both browser.apk and browser.odex). Make sure you put all the correct permissions (mine has all permisions for reading and owner permissions for writing).

These are from nc5d.
remove .apk extension from odex file. I only added the extension to upload here.
This is the download apk I dont think this is the one. It had a sproket icon and it said "download manager" I think it is an app store specific system apk. I dont know why I deleted it but when I went to troubleshoot the play store glitch. One on the things it says is to check the "download manager" and I think I need to start fresh.

I do it on my pc with winrar. then there will be a system.img.ext4 you could mount it to a directory on your phone from command line or do it on pc with any of the various ext4 tools out there.
ext4_unpacker is a good one for pc. Not sure who wrote it though.
