[Q] Installing VillainROM 3.0 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi a newbie here.
Recently i flashed my S2 with I9100XXKI3 and rooted it with CF-Root(CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_KI3-42-v4.2-CWM4).
I wanted to Install a custom ROM and I chose Villain ROM 3.0.
As i read in the forum,
Went to CWM recovery mode,
1. Wiped Data
2. Wiped Cache
3. Wiped Dalvik
4. Select 'Install ZIP from SD Card'
5. Select 'Choose Zip from SD Card'
6. Reboot
The phone rebooted. The phone dint bootup. It was in the starting screen.
After 15 mins i rebooted the phone and went to CWM recovery mode.
There i found the /sdcard /cache etc are not accessable.
It errors out saying unable to mount /sdcard.
Then i reflashed to stock via odin and the stock is working fine.
Please help me on this.
Also dont tell me to search the forum for answer as i already did with 0 answers.

I tried installing Lightening rom... same issue please i need somebody to help me....
Is it because of I9100XXKI3???

Need help, think Brick

hello everyone,
i think i bricked my Xperia S somehow.
what i did is :
1 unlocked the boot loader.
2 update my kernel with ics13.elf
after this my phone was still working.
then i put the FXP134-cm-9-20120817-UNOFFICIAL-anzu on my internal space (turned out to be for Arc, how stupid ididnt read)
i started with the custom recovery and installed CM9 but it gave an error and stopped ( cause of arc software i think but didnt knew it then)
then i did the following as explained on some sites:
-wipe data/factory reset
-advanced > wipe dalvik
-mounts > format system
-mounts /mount system
after this step i rebooted, cause then i found out i gotthe wrong CM9 and wanted to put the right one on my internal space.
after the reboot Sony logo prompted and just freezes there.
cant turn of or on my phone, have to wait till the battery is empty.
but then again when i charge it a little the logo comes and freezes again.
now i try to do safeboot or recovery both wont work.
PLZ plz help me.
ty P.
you've got 2 possibilities:
1st:
reflash the advanced stock kernel and boot into recovery
download the right CM9 file > http://get.cm/get/jenkins/5933/cm-9.0.0-nozomi.zip
try to mount USB mass storage and place the file on your phone
restart the process of installing CM9 like you did before
2nd:
flash a stock firmware via flashtool
let it boot, download the CM9 file and place it on your phone
flash advanced stock kernel , boot into recovery and install CM9.

No roms neither backup, can't mount HELP!

Hey. I rooted my phone 3 days ago and installed wanamlite rom. It was good but i felt uncomfortable so i wanted to install the Android Revolution rom. I read the instructions, it was okay,i placed my superwipe and rom.zip to int card. After that i made a wipe/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik then flashed superwipe from cwm. Right now i got nothing on the phone. The phone boots but stucks in galaxy s3 logo. I can go into odin mode and cwm but cannot go into fastboot. I removed my sdcard to another phone, moved the rom.zip into it then i replaced again into s3. Went to the cwm and tried to flash from sdcard but then i got the error which is "e: can't mount sdcard".. So im totally stuck, I don't know much things about what can i do now.. Please help me, thanks..

Tried flashing CM11 , but installation aborted.

So I plan on installing 4.4 kit kat. So I went ahead and downloaded cm11. I then went into recovery , I wiped data, wiped cache and dalvik.
Then went into mounts and storage and formated system ,data and cache. I then went to install cm11 and I got this error:
ELerror in /emmc/kitkat/cm11-xxxxx nightly.
(status 7)
Installion aborted
Please help me . How do I get past this error? I'd really love to have 4.4 on my phone

You need to flash a KK compatible CWM first........
Sent from my Infected KitKat bar.....
First install 4.3 jelly bean, and then 4.4. This worked for me
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Except that you don't even need to install JB.......as I said in my original reply, the ONLY thing you have to flash is a KitKat compatible CWM......
To make things even easier, here's a copy of the CWM I flashed (via CWM) that enabled me to flash straight to KK..(CWM courtesy of @infected_)........

I solve mine when I flashed CM10.2 nightly. Then do not restart your phone. Instead go to advanced options and restart recovery. Then you will see the latest CWM. Then flash CM11 and their GApps.
OP......flashing a temporary ROM is NOT necessary....it's just overcomplicating things......
ALL you have to do is......
1) download your chosen ROM and GApps....
2) download the CWM package I linked you to....
3) reboot into your EXISTING recovery....
4) flash the CWM that you downloaded at step 2....
5) reboot recovery...
6) flash your chosen ROM/GApps while following all wipe/install instructions......
JOB DONE.....SIMPLE AS.....
NO NEED TO FLASH A TEMPORARY ROM.......

I will be happy for further info.
Thanks
OK.....this is the exact order that I did things coming from CM10.1....
1) downloaded ROM, gapps and KK compatible CWM to my REMOVABLE micro SD card.
2) rebooted the phone into existing CWM and flashed KK compatible version.
3) turned the phone off and removed micro SD card.
4) rebooted into new CWM, went to mounts and storage, and formatted EVERYTHING....
5) turned the phone off and re inserted micro SD card.
6) rebooted back into CWM and installed ROM and gapps.
7) wiped cache and dalvik and factory reset
8) rebooted the phone into Android....
Just remember that the first boot WILL take longer than normal.....
Good luck.....

OK. let me explain my situation exactly right now.
I have "Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100"
and it s original right now as software
I mean I didn't root it right now.
my question is "what should I do exactly from right now to CM-11"
Let me explain what I did before:
1) I ve rooted it with " Jeboo_kernel_i9100_v1-2a.tar " via Odin
2) I downloaded SuperSu then Titanium Backup Root
3) I copied to my SD card into phone
1# CWM-KitKatCompatible-i9100.tar
2# CM-10.1.3-i9100.zip
3# CM-11-20140308-SNAPSHOT-M4-i9100.zip
4# CM-11-20140310-NIGHTLY-i9100.zip
5# gapps-jb-.....zip
6# gapps-kk-....zip
4) I applied 2# then 5# (didn't occur any problem) and rebooted my phone
5) All is done!
6) Then I upgraded CWM with 1#
7) I applied 4# then 6# (didn't occur any problem) and rebooted my phone
8) Phone was stucked at the just start with "Samsung Galaxy S2" and there was a " ! " sign under it.

[Q] Soft Brick with CWM 6.0.4.7

Hi all, this is my first time posting in XDA and I finally managed to brick my phone. Please help me The story goes as below :
1) I was using Slimbean 4.2.2 stable build 8, with the said CWM 6.0.4.7. and tried to reinstall the rom fresh from the original zip from slimroms website.
2) Did the usual wipe user data and cache partition
3) Wiped dalvik cache
4) I was curious and bravely decided to use the mounts and storage option. Browsed through the list and decided to format /system, /cache, /preload, /data, and /boot. Suddenly felt like something just went wrong, so stopped before the /modem section.
5) Thinking that I finally cleared my phone from all of the previous rom's files and such, went into install zip menu. Tried installing zip from sdcard1 (external).
6) CWM shows my external card properly. Selected the zip file. Wait. Phone reboots into CWM.
7) Thought I missed something, tried rebooting as usual. Directly went into CWM again. Pushed the button combination for download mode, went into download mode just fine.
8) Used CWM boot into bootloader mode menu, phone reboots into CWM again.
9) Tried using the "install zip from sdcard" menu. Phone reboots into CWM again.
10) Checked the log, it says
I:Checking for extendedcommand...
I:Skipping execution of extendedcommand, file not found
I:Can't partition non mmcblk device: /devices/platform/s3c-sdhci.2/mmc_host/mmcl
Right now its 1 AM in the morning, and I have morning shift tomorrow. Please help me people The only probable solution left for me is installing Samsung original ROM using ODIN, hoping that everything will be set as usual again.

Glad to see it worked there was nothing wrong that you did apart from the last option /boot...I suggest you use PhilZ recovery it as a option in settings to "clean to install a new rom" which formats all the correct partitions for you..

I used to use Philz recovery, touch version. But it seems to have something that I don't like back then, so I opted back to CWM. Maybe I should try Philz again. BTW, why does the mmcblk error comes out? Should I be worried. Because when I check the log now, it still occurs even though my phone is fully functional now.
