Everytime I start tethering with my phone it reboots, does anyone know why?
When life sucks I just enjoy the head
Try factory reset if that doesn't work send the phone in.

What are you using to tether? APN, WiFi Tether, Barnacle, etc.? Which ROM are you using?

Hotspot is working with newest tether beta (5). This needs to be moved to General.
barnacle wifi works
Hot Spot Capability After Root
The only wifi tether app that works after root is wifi_tether_v3_1-beta5.apk. I can't remember where I found it but it's out there.

It doesn't work when you want to tether it to a Touchpad. The touchpad cannot detect the wifi connection coming from the phone.

This is because the touchpad can't see adhoc networks

apparently neither does ps3... which idk why it won't work with my photon when it was working with no additional apps or changed settings on my rooted evo 4g... but life goes on and we deal with stuff that just doesn't work... =\
Because the evo actually used infrastructure network with wireless tether

+1
Has to be implemented for the Photon. If you get mad and want to sell your Touchpad to me for $99 just let me know.
Rooted with One-click AIO MoPho root from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1217416
Then downloaded latest (beta6) WiFi Tether from here:
http://android-wifi-tether.googlecode.com/files/wifi_tether_v3_1-beta6.apk
Changed the SSID but left everything else off (encryption, etc) to help with the speed. The work laptop anyway connects over VPN. Set up WiFi connection manually in work laptop (XP) as ad-hoc.
Worked like a champ! It's slow as hell ... but a champ! Let's hope it works a little better when on the road. I just need to show that I'm logged on (Sametime).

How do you set the Type to Net D. I get everything else but that. Thanks
Also if you are using an Android Tablet you can tether via Bluetooth rather easily.
For those who have gotten this to work with the TouchPad , what channel are you using? Thx

After you set the profile to Samsung Galaxy S, get back to the options menu and select "Change Setup-Method" (next one down) and then select "Netd (master)" and that should be it. Hope this works out for you.
Does this happen to anyone else? I used to have it on all the time, but now it turns off. I can't get any messages from Whatsapp messenger or other apps.
I have sync on and always-on mobile data.
what rom are you using?
Settings, mobile network, enable always-on data. Boom, good to go.

I already said i have that on...
Are you using stock rom unrooted or you rooted? Could be wireless issue or something else some folks said the latest update that had smith apk in it would shut your data off when your screen was off. That was on the 2.17 OTA software update.
So far there has never been any proof that it does that. Anyway's if it only shuts off when your screen is off that would help save battery.

Did you install any battery saver apps like juice defender? Try disabling always on mobile data and reenable. Also try turning fastboot off and reboot phone after that

I'm using Thundershed 1.6 w Zoom Kernel. My Verizon works for me. I downloaded it through GooglePlay. Only thing is it doesn't auto log me in and it comes up with a missing info page when click but you simply click ok and it brings you to the login for the app and works from there. The data widget no long auto updates either. You have to click on it, log in to update it each time. Can use it on 3g/wifi/4g.
Maybe check out google play to see you have the latest version?
Maybe it's just me, but it seems like I can't keep my wifi off.
Every time I turn wifi off it gets turned back on by itself.
I'm sure I'm just being a complete noob and missing something.
Stock unrooted latest update.
Was ok before update.
Any help appreciated.

Sounds like Sprints "Connection Optimizer" here, I think there's a way to disable it, but I just deleted the APK from the system folder, are you rooted?

After you uncheck it, if you're rooted, use TB to freeze or uninstall so it never comes back to haunt you. I've been freezing apps until I decide if they're fully safe to delete and that I'm sure I won't want them.

Connections optimizer isn't onlyfor Sprint. Fix is probably the same, but might be named differently, but similarly.

Have you tried a factory reset?
Or toggling the data modes?
If neither of those worki would return the phone, as it wouldn't be the sim card which only affects 4g.

This just happened to me a few days ago. I used Odin and flashed the latest image. Then I did device reset under settings. That brought it back for me. All data on the internal storage gets erased though. If all that fails, you can use one of the code in the pictures attached. That should work. Hope it helps.

You dial them as if they were phone numbers, in the dialer app. You can also copy and paste them in there (easier if no computer handy)
