QuickOffice Pro is the free app of the day on Amazon today - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

This event is over now...........
QuickOffice Pro is the free app of the day on Amazon today
http://www.amazon.com/mobile-apps/b/ref=sa_menu_adr_app4?ie=UTF8&node=2350149011

Too bad you can't download either version through the Flyer (stupid thing keeps telling me the regular nor HD version is compatible with the Flyer. I had to download the app to my phone and emailed the .apk to myself to install it.
Frankly I think Office Suite Pro looks and works better.

can you post the apk or email to me? Thanks.

Good app, and if you've purchased it in the past (like I had for my Samsung phone), you can fill out a support ticket on the QuickOffice website explaining that you aren't able to download on the Flyer. Provide a copy of the e-mailed receipt for proof of purchase, and they will send a download link. It works fine on the Flyer.

if you are on a Flyer Honeycomb app you can download it from Amazon.

Flyer unavailable at Best Buy (11.22.11)?

The Best Buy website still shows the Flyer @ $299, but both online and all the stores I checked are out.
Any thoughts/news on whether this is due to strong sales or end-of-life? I enjoy mine so much my mom decided to get one, but now we can't find one.

I realize that ROM development for the view and flyer is different. However, are they both equally rootable? Do they both receive the same regular updates from HTC, including the most recent 2.3.4?
Will they both receive the same HC update in the [indefinite] future?
I'm just wondering if there is a risk to buying the View over the flyer
I just got mine from Techforless. Delivered earlier than expected; it was refurbished, but looks brand new; and works like a charm. Meanwhile, Ijust finished following globatron's awesome guide to installing Honeycomb with no problems at all.
mcoup10off should get you 10% off for another day, i think (found the code online).
No prob rooting and the last update came quicker than the flyer, hc, still waiting.

Two days ago, I checked Best Buy online all every store in my area had them in stock. Yesterday, none did. My guess is that there will be some kind of sale.
Playbooks were recently sold for $200, I bet the same will happen with Flyers.

I think you have to buy a HP PC to go with the $200 playbook.

You are thinking about the HP touchpad. The playbook can be bought right now for $200 out the door.

You are right. $200 is such a good price. And it's better than Kindle Fire.
Right. I own a Playbook too and the Flyer is a much better tablet at the moment but the Playbook has some advantages too and MIGHT get better over time.

Has RIM released the update to allow you to run Android completely on it? That was the reason I didn't get it in the first place (other than it being a crackberry).

Playbook is nice spec but I would not buy it if you desire updates. If you are happy as is, go for it

I considered the playbook but no kindle or nook apps is a no go for me.

There is an open beta that lets you install Android Apps.
There are limitiations. Anything that was developed using the Android SDK won't work. Probably about 50% of Android Apps work. Kindle works. At this point, I would not buy a Playbook thinking that you can run the Android Apps that you want to though. Many won't work.
RIM's appworld is actually starting to fill out with some decent apps. EA games like Madden. Gameloft games.
The Kindle HTML5 Web App also works.

There have been plently of updates but none of them have expanded the feature set much. There is a big update scheduled for February that will bring a lot of new features. If this goes off as planned, the Playbook will be pretty competitive with Android and iOS.
I paid full price and feel screwed but if you can get one for $200, I think its worth the risk. the Playbook OS is really fast and fun to use. Hopefully one day you can do alot with it.
It is a limited platform with few users and a device who's future is uncertain. not to mention rim is struggling mightily

All true! My point is that for $200 it might be worth seeing how it plays out.
I bought a playbook for $199 and I do have to say that the multi-tasking and internet browser is unmatched in regards to other tablets. Part of the reason is that it was designed from the ground up with tablets in mind. Unfortunately, it is missing features such as android apps, email, and a kindle app. I put it back in the box for now and will continue to use my flyer for now. I will play with it again in February to see if the promised update makes this tablet more usable for me (I don't have a BB phone so I can't use the link feature).

So I was looking at this, can you use this via wifi? Is it the same as the Flyer just with larger SD storage? I just notice is says 4g, don't those usually need a data plan of some sort to run? Where as the Flyer has the wifi and the 3g model and the best buy one was just a wifi so it didn't need a service contract. I just don't want to buy this and then have to have a plan for it rather than just wifi.

You dont "need" a data plan you could just run it wifi. The Flyer and View are not exactly the same though. The roms and ruu's are specific, in that regard the flyer gets a bit more love. I also wouldn't be shocked to see the Flyer get the official update to HC before the View does. No carrier testing involved.

Thanks for the info lrs421. So I think I'll pass on that then... I called Best Buy because I ordered one yesterday and it said it was in stock online. then today looked at my order and it said backordered. When I called they said It was BO for up to 30 days but should be no longer than that. Not sure what to do, wait it out and hope i get one, or go to that tech for less and get an "open Item" one.... decisions...

[APP] SwiftKey X on Sale for $.10 in Market

SwiftKey X is on sale for ten cents right now in the Android Marketplace. It's a really nice keyboard program that uses your Facebook, Twitter & contacts to do better predictive typing and is highly customizable. Great deal, not sure how long it will last but the regular price is $3.99.
Yeah I love these offers, but got really pissed off because I was purchasing one of those app and my connection turned off for no reason and now I can download it

[Q] Marvel or DC app?

Is there a way to install the Marvel or DC app on the Nook tablet? I could have sworn they had announced it from the official Nook store but maybe that's for the Color and not the Tablet?
Google the apk's and install them that way. Just found one for comixology and one for marvel comics. Both worked flawless.

Ah, thanks. Indeed found v 1.0.2 of Comixology and it seems to work fine. I cant' believe DC raised their prices to $2.99 per issue. Ouch!
Crazy prices man. Marvel have some sales going on so that's worth looking into.

Buying a Flyer on Friday, doing the right thing?

I have a sensation, and i noticed that 99% of my activities are multimedia (reading books, music and browsing) i dont phone at all or sms, so i decided to trade the sensation for a flyer.. anyone supports me? I am appealed to the stylus and writting part beyond words can comprehend..

At least but the 3G version. You can hack it to receive/make calls, and you can send/receive messages stock. As rarely as you use these, they're critical in some situations.

Get it if the price is right

As long as your ok with the flyer never getting official ICS and the development on roms being a bit slow..
I'd say your good to go..
I mean I am not big on 3g services with smartphones.. they are a bit over priced and what not.. I love my captivate but, it's purely for email where as my flyer is purely for browsing/ereading.

I didn't require a hack to do this. I use GrooveIP and my google voice number... Course, I have to have WiFi, but there is never really a shortage of that anymore.

I wouldn't spend more than $250.00 on one today. But yeah, it's a great little tablet. I love mine and think there's plenty of life lieft in the o'l girl. Also, it's the only 7" option if pen support is on your list.
That's precisely what it use mine for and it excels in that area. I wanted a reasonably procedure tab with decent specs and honeycomb. It succeeded in all these areas.

Wow ... 10 free movies for new customers? Sucks to be a heavily invested veteran like myself. I actually instinctively deleted the e-mail notification just as I caught a glimpse. I thought the birthday fairy granted me a wish or something.
App is pretty darn good (and fast), but does have some redraw issues on the interface.
