[Q] Need help wiping a rooted Evo 3D - HTC EVO 3D

EVO 3D has been rooted via the revolutionary method and I have S-off. Stock ROM. I would like to wipe the phone of all applications/contacts/etc... I would like to keep my photos etc, but those are on the sdcard. What are the steps that I should take?

Factory Reset inside Settings, SD and Phone Storage.

Equivalent adb shell, manual command, rm -r /data . Does the same thing as Factory Reset from inside Settings.
Also from the recovery, either format Data or Factory Reset will accomplish the same thing.
All preferences, applications, contacts, etc are stored on the /data partition.
Wipe the /data partition and other than the sdcard, there will be no trace of the user's files on the device.
Hope that helps! Good luck!

If I were you I'd just Install a Custom Recovery then Boot into it and Wipe Data or Cache from there...

Hey Joey, I think that anyone asking this question is not doing much with adb shell.

Does a full wipe really clean out your system?

Has anyone notice that even after you do a complete full wipe( Rom and system) of everything that there are still some files and folders remaining under sdcard partition(internal not external card). The only away to clean them out is to manually delete them. Anyone notice this?
Solution: Use 4EXT Recovery to clean all partitions including cache and dalvic-cache.

Um.... If you don't wipe the SD cards they dont get wiped. This is normal.
This is how its intended

Nah, TWRP is fine.
We don't even have 4EXT Recovery for this phone yet, so that argument is irrelevant.

We have a LOT of people on here who have no clue about anything lol
Of course it does. It's a computer. It doesn't just start wiping and say, "Nah, I'm gonna skip that and move on." The commands given to the system to wipe are absolute and once the command runs successfully the partition is formatted clean.
Now imagine asking this same question but in a non tech forum?

That's normal for the recovery so it doesn't delete stuff like your backups and pictures. If you need to do a full factory reset you can select it from the bootloader and it will wipe all your data, including internal storage.

[Q] Format internal sd

Hello
I recently rooted and flashed LiquidSmooth onto my SG3 I747M and i would like to get rid of all the junk on my internal harddrive. I was wondering what the procedure would be to wipe my internal harddrive (So i do not have any random folders or old app files) on TWRP without losing my custom rom and root. Would i have to save the backup (just incase), custom rom and root on my sd card and just install it right after I wipe my harddrive?
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated
Thank you!
Wipe cache and go to /system/app and /data/app and delete unwanted apps. That should be enough.

Id like to just format my internal harddrive completely. Is there anyway of doing this without losing my custom rom, root and bricking my phone? Ive been searching everywhere and i havent been able to find a clear answer.

boot into twrp, go to the wipe menu, and wipe everysingle thing. Then reflash your rom. That will wipe everything, and reinstall liquid smooth.
Doing this wont brick your phone or make you lose root.

Thank you! This is exactly what i was looking for. What would i be wiping though? Obviously Cache, Dalvik and Factory Reset but do i have to wipe System, Internal storage and format data? (What does format data do)?

yeah wipe everything including system, and internal storage. format data formats the data partition of the phone, which is also necessary.
The only thing you dont have to wipe is your external sd card (if you even have one). Press thanks if i helped.

Installing ROM with Encryted Data or Remove Encryted Data?

My sister installed her work eMail which enabled Encryption (I believe only on the Data Partition).
She does not really care about having her work email, so we removed it.
But that still leaves everything Encryted.
After Googling Around it appears you need the Factory RUU to get the Phone Back to Stock.
But that is not availble yet.
Does anyone know a way to either Flash a ROM or Take the Encryption Off.
We tried both TWRP and CW Recovery and neither can do a Backup because they cannot Mount Data.
Any suggestions welcome.
I'm personally on a Sprint HTC One
Perform a factory reset or boot into recovery (I am not sure about the HTC One stock recovery but I did this with my Galaxy S3) and format the /DATA partition.
Use titanium backup to backup all system data and user apps + data to sdcard, copy backup folder off to a computer, factory reset, copy the backup from PC to sdcard, then restore.

This worked. CW Recovery Failed. But TWRP worked. It got a whole bunch of failures until the last step that it formatted data. Then I ran it again with no errors.
I was a little surprised formatting DATA now includes the internal SD drive, that really sucks.
Thanks

[Q] - Root / Internal Storage Issues

So, long story short I think I have some internal storage issues. In a panic trying to get my phone to work I did a factory reset from bootloader. I'm S-Off but cannot get root back. When I try to run it from TWRP, it tells me it can't mount cache. I've tried full restores ... nothing...
Any thoughts?
Hit the third link in my sig-I think you'll find what you're looking for. You need to do a factory reset from TWRP, not the bootloader. If your internal storage won't mount you may need to format it via PC.

I did yet that, still had issues. I ended up flashing a sense ROM, formatting storage through that, and them reflashed.
So far, so good.

How to install original MDK recovery?

Can someone knowledgeable with Odin give me step by step instructions to reinstall only the MDK recovery?
I seem to need the original recovery in order to factory reset which will Unencrypt my phone.
Thanks
Nevermind, I found that in TWRP WIPE menu, that FORMAT DATA will Unencrypt the phone along with erasing data and internal SD.
