My i9100 suddenly stopped vibrating. No haptic feed back, no sms vibrate, no call vibrate. No *#0*# vibration...
I had lighting rom, installed stock rom and nothing, wont vibrate again.
Anyone had this kind of trouble? Any other idea than sending it back? (I got this abroad...)
Thanks in advance
Factory reset will solve it had this happen to me once after flashing a rom and a factory reset bought haptic feedback back.

Didn't work, I had tried that.
But weird stuff:
After I installed a Brazilian stock rom, I was fully charging it so I could root it again. Accidentally it fell for about 2 feet high.
Vibration is back on. (probably a HARDWARE failure, a jam of some kind) Really weird. (I do use a silicon case, my i9100 is without a scratch, I wonder what will happen from now on...)
It was the first time I see a FALL fix a phone though.
Well. It went on and off again. Probably faulty hardware.

My X10 is having some issues with the screen and possibly the phone itself. I've already tried flashing a new firmware (2.3) and tried a different battery as well and still the problem persists.
The problem is that the screen would almost always die whenever I put the back cover on. The times it didn't, it would work for about an hour and after that, the screen would die once again. When this happens, the hard buttons along with the screen stop working and the only way to reset the phone is to take out the battery.
I tried using the phone without the back cover. It lasts longer, but the issue of the screen and hard buttons dying still occurs. The battery could have slipped out, but I've tested it by just leaving it in one spot and not touching it and the problem still occurs.
I am lost on what to do and if there are any questions, I will answer it asap. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
UPDATE: it seems to be a hardware problem. Whenever I tap the battery hard enough or shake the phone, the screen and hard keys die on me.
If anyone knows the cause of this or have any input, it will be much appreciated.
I'M not sure if the battery, the contacts or some other Parts Cause the Problem. Have you tried to fix the battery with some folded Paper or smth. so it can't move away?

Wished I read your post earlier today. The paper trick seems to be working right now, but since the phone is still under warranty, my cell phone company is sending me a new one.
Thanks for the help though.
Hi everybody,
Recently I've been encountering a problem where my streak won't respond to any touches after I open the screen. Pressing the power button and waking the phone up again does not solve the problem. I've read about the static issue, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to be the case here as the problem still occurs even when my streak isn't in my pocket.
Oddly enough, rebooting the phone solves the issue temporarily. The touchscreen will work perfectly until I turn the screen off again, but when I turn the screen back on, the phone doesn't seem to register any touches. The phone itself works fine as it still receives notifications even when the touchscreen is unresponsive.
Is this a hardware or a software issue?
I'm currently on DSC 2.2 and baseband 366. I'm going to try a factory reset right now to see if any will improve.
Thanks!
Edit: did a factory reset, problem is still occurring
I have the same problem, does anyone know how to fix this? thanks

Have you tried recalibrating your touch screen from the dell menu?
Its option 3, worked for me a few days ago.

Yeah I have. I'm currently assuming it's a hardware issue since I've reverted back to a stock rom along with several other custom roms but the touchscreen still remained unresponsive after waking it up. I'm hypothesizing its a bad connection somewhere, especially if the display and touch sensor wake up separately. Does anybody know anything about this and whether it can be repaired?
On the other hand, I might be completely wrong...
I noticed that some bags for DS5 produce static electricity, such as the original Dell Bag (Futon bag - ?)
The Leather Bag (with red fissure) does not produce static electricity even when having the DS5 in trousers.

I had this problem once, pried and screwed the Streak open, checked connection ribbons, and cleaned it with (a little bit) electric contact spray. This has saved my irresponsive power button as well! Success:good:
I have had my phone since the summer time and flashed multiple ROMS/kernels and never had an issue with the vibration. I was using Task650/ktoonsez 4.1.2 12.2.2012 with Fluxxi 4.3.3 for some months now.
Yesterday I lost almost all intensity to my vibrate. I can not feel it when typing in swype or touching the capacitive buttons. I downloaded a vibrate app and can feel it although it is very soft.
I have increased the intensity in Device options/Haptic and using extweaks.
I have cleared all cache/dalvik. I have flashed a new rom (Helly bean). Nothing works. Hopefully this is not a hardware issue but it is looking that way. Does anyone have any suggestions? Should I try flashing to stock?
That's what I would do,if only to eliminate the possibility of it being hardware related.

Same thing on stock. I have also noticed that auto-rotation is wonky. Will rotate from portrait to landscape but not from landscape to portrait. Guess I will have to contact samsung.
Just want to update for anyone else that has a similar issue. I was able to fix the problem with vibration by violently smacking the phone on its side against my hand a couple times. Vibration is much stronger now, almost as strong as it was before. Also re-calibrating my accelerometer after this fixed auto-rotation. Yay!
.....?.....violently smacking....seems legit
Something strange is happening last 3 weeks. Every time i turn off, than on my phone, touch is not working, all buttons are forking(including digitizer). When that happens, I need to turn it on and off again, and then it works
What that could be ? I tried flashing another roms, but problem is there again. I switch batteries a lot, and that is very annoying.
If you've experienced this on different roms, than it a hardware problem. I can only guess here but it could be a loose display connector or the display/digitizer showing it's age.
As far as I see - have three options here - get the phone repaired / get used to this glitch or get a new device.

Has anyone had this occur?
It's happened twice now and a factory reset fixes it but only temporarily. If the phone is left alone, the second screen will normally dim to roughly half it's brightness on its own. This is normal, however mine stays continually at full brightness and has stopped dimming, again. Also if the proximity sensor is covered by either placing the phone in your pocket or turning it screen down in the table. The screen will completely turn off. Once removed from the pocket or turning it face up, it will normally turn back on. Easily seen by testing this. However, mine has stopped turning off on either example. It stays on constantly no matter what. I have done a factory reset twice before and it fixes the issue but that is getting old. Does anyone have this issue or advice on how to fix this? I would be very grateful. I'm tired of resetting my phone.
Thank you

No one knows eh? It's a mystery to me as well. Wondering if it's a proximity sensor problem. ?

Hmm.. I installed a few applications to test the proximity sensor. Turns out it's not working. This in turn prompted me to search of the issue with regards to the proximity sensor malfunctioning. I discovered a couple threads declaring similar problems with the second screen after folks disabled system applications.
My phone is not rooted but I've disabled Instagram and Facebook through the applications settings on the phone. This was dinner sometime shortly before the recent malfunction. These of course on the v10 are system applicants, at least on T-Mobile.
Long story short, the only way to fix it sounds like what I've been doing, factory reset.

The proximity sensor is definitely not working. It's pretty obvious during a phone call as well. I'm going to utilize LG bridge to back up tomorrow. Then I'll do a factory reset.
There's definitely a connection when disabling system apps through the normal application settings route. Not sure how many are affected by this. But if it ever effects someone else, remember this thread.
I'll post results tomorrow. At this point I'm convinced it's not hardware related and if things return to normal afterwards. That'll confirm my suspicions that there's a bad bug floating around to what degree I'm not sure.
