does it is possible for our ace to get cm9 because till now no sign of nightly builds for our ace means announcment by cm official so can we get cm9
because the news is it will be all for 68 devices supported by cm.
which include htc wildfire so why not we?
Maybe if v get nightlies ... ders a l'll hope ..... bt still dnt xpect too high till v get nightlies
*cheers*

If Htc Wildfire is Included then Galaxy Ace is fully Compatible
As Comparing Wildfire to Ace
Processor
GPU
Over all Performance
These all things are better than wildfire ....
Until when our COOPER appears in the list of devices here: http://cm-nightlies.appspot.com/?device=galaxys2 then CM9 is possible!
Just... calm down!!!
best thing to do is wait and watch for builds as no one except cyanogenmod dev knows anything
Just wait and watch, forget abt cm9,God help us if we get cm7

Don't just say 'thanks',press the thanks button,if I helped you..
I think ICS will even make our ace faster/responsive/smooth? since 2D hardware acceleration is ON by default?

How does the situation with porting of HTC Sense to Galaxy Ace look like at the moment?
I can see that the phone is gaining popularity and hope that there soon will be someting like Sense interface for it. My wife wanted a phone with Sense interface but I said it is better to but Galaxy Ace than Wildfire and I promised that I will upload a custom rom with HTC Sense so now I am waiting for one. Hope to get one soon. Is there any rome that may be similar to HTC Sense?

Hello everyone, sorry to resurrect such an old thread.
The Samsung Galaxy Ace has almost the same hardware as the HTC Salsa (MSM7227T, Adreno 205, 512MB RAM and ROM). Has anyone tried porting the Salsa ROM to the Galaxy Ace?

To my knowledge, the Galaxy Ace has 512MB of RAM too, but only ~300MB usable. I assume that the Salsa will have less than 512MB of usable RAM too, since some RAM has to be allocated to the kernel/display driver etc.
Adreno 200 and 205 seem rather similar by name (the number increases by 5). Are these two GPUs radically different?
If they are, why not the Wildfire S? MSM7227 (non-Turbo), Adreno 200 GPU.
X8 already ported salsa's sense
There are only a handful of devs that work on SGA and I doubt very much that porting the Sense UI is at the top of their list of things to do. One of the first things I found out upon joining XDA...

If I have time in the following week I think I will try copying the whole Wildfire S/Salsa ROM to the Galaxy Ace and see how far it boots. Not likely to work (at all), but worth a shot.

Its not work in this way
Even porting stock rom is much difficult task
Even devs that tried to port not succesfully ported. They phased bugs like 3g not work, camera and fm not work and in some cases calling not works
But give it try if want but dont brick your phone
If you want sense sooooo much get cm7 then get the ntsense theme then get LP sense launcher then widgetlocker

Just saying but you can choose both options in the poll. Now to go ontopic, I'm placing my bets on cooper-KANG since it's actually listed on stats.cyanogenmod.com and since they're working together anyway, it'll probably merge at some point.

The release date is coming...
Samsung won't update our device to latest...of course
so, who's gonna port ICS AOSP build to our SGS2??
someone thinking bout it?
CyanogenMod (teamhacksung)
Ill wait for samsung version of ICS. Need samsung media codecs.
who said samsung won't update our device to ICS?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
SGS II will recieve official ICS.
Samsung will give official updates do SGSII up to 18 months from the phone release date.
So yes, we get the official samsung ICS
Samsung are signed up to the Google update path .
All compatible products receive updates for at least 18 months from first build date .
jje
really?
dunno that...
but i think it's gonna be a big time to wait...until Sammy releases to SGS2
Maybe it will take a while for the US versions of the SGS2 to get updates (blame the networks for that), but the Euro version should get it reasonably soon.
CM9 for those who don't want to wait for an official Samsung TW rom, just be patient though teamhacksung will do their magic.

I for one am more excited for the Samsung ics than cyanogenmod. I've used cm6 and 7 across around 5 devices but I think Samsung got it 99% right with the gs2!
Ephumuris
that's nice...
it's almost unbelievable, when a new OS is released...
then ppl port it fastest to Nexus, and Nexus S devices...
i hope Cyanogen could really make a SGS2 version fastest too!!
and that ICS could fix AOS bug forever!!
I'm currently using CM7 on my GS2. This is the fastest rom ever. Definitely will go to CM9 by the time it's released already.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
They'll do it.
From coolya's google+,
I am sorry to say, but I won't put any work in ICS on the Galaxy Ace. I have tried some proof of concept stuff but it isn't worth the work.
I don't say that is will be impossible but, it will be pain to get everything working, especially camera and openGL. Since there is no sign of a official release from samsung this is way to much work.
Also the the UX won't be what I will call good, the device has to less ram.
But stay tunes from nice changes to the gingerbread release for that, there will definitively be a "official" release for it.
There will still be a official gingerbeard version of cyanogenmod.
This info is already shared by SuperAce609.

Am I weird??
Is it really that bad? I mean, yes, it'd be nice to have the latest android version, but not at any price (not working camera? C'mon!). I'd rather have a good and polished phone with android 2.3 than a buggy and resource-hungry 4.0.
I'm pretty much content with my phone right now, but I think there's still room for improvements: we desperately need a better battery management; we still suffer from _huge_ lags. And what about Wifi?? We deserve a reliable wireless connection (for god sake, somebody fix the wpa_supplicant already so I can connect to my University's network!! )
I know many of you won't share my opinion, but I can't be the only one who thinks this way

I agree with every word you said(or wrote).
at least we will get an official version and that's the juice. We have to be aware that ACE is not a top performance phone and what's all that hype with ICS anyway? If we'll get an official gingerbread/cyanogenmod rom I bet all of us we'll be happy.
So any news of the official release timeline? Think is going to be after Christmas/New Year or we'll get it as a holiday present?
Speculation Threads.... Sigh

I have to admit, but most of the ICS features wouldn't work on the Ace anyway, for example, Android Beam (No NFC on Ace), Face Unlock (No front facing camera)
However, I have heard that ICS uses less system resources, and a source at Google told me...
"Any device that runs Gingerbread is more than likely to ported over to ICS and will function just as fast"

If the galaxy ace winbwe will have miui
Given up hope , MIUI will never officially come to the Ace (though there's a group of devs who are working on it)
Herpderp Adreno + Tegra.
F*CK*NG for this voting
Never ever ever ever going to happen. If it was possible it would have been done a loooooong time ago. Never happening .

Miui is not possible to come samsung galaxy ace officially because of its processor (which is armv6) and screen size (unfortunately its mdpi) ALSO it hasnt got official and stable cyanogenmod. (Because miui uses cm7 base)
