Hey guys,
Friend of mine managed to damage his SGS2's mainboard while replacing the headphone jack, any idea where he may find a spare?
I searched, but nothing came up in this forum..
Thanks!

Quick bump for the evening
If you are replacing the motherboard, you are replacing the phone completely. as the chip on the damaged motherboard contains the imei and other information about your phone.
Anew mother board will have a different imei and have to be registered with your provider as it is basically a new phone.
That's 100% fine, my provider doesn't lock IMEI's out of it's network.
I just need to find where to get a new board and the /efs folder to match.
Any ideas?
Look on eaby for broken phones, some with broken screen are really cheap.

Hi,
I smashed my screen on my I9305 and not realizing it i put the I9300 replacement screen on the phone. I have had issues with the IMEI null and not picking up signal. I have tried all mentioned methods on here to restore but none have worked. I gave up an contacted a repair center and they have said that putting a I9305 screen on will solve the problem. Is this correct as I don't want t spend money if it is not correct.
Thanks

As far as my knowledge goes screen replacing doesn't effect anything until or unless you have badly messed up some hardware in the process. The module used to allow communication on i9300 and i9305 is same plus it doesn't has to do anything with screen. You can try to put a new SIM card module to see whether the phone picks up signal or not. The best bet for you is that you don't go around spending money for a thing that is perfectly fine.
One more bet is that you may have ruined some inner hardware during the smash and not in the replacing process.
Hit Thanks if I helped.
did you replace the screen with a heat gun like in some videos on youtube? if so you might have damaged some of the sensible parts of the sIII if you didn't take them off before, for example the antenna or the simcard module like the one above me said.
so i think it will be difficult to find the broken part - changing all possible parts by yourself is very expensive and time-consuming.
I recommend you to consult an official samsung repair center (which will be expensive, too) or sell your phone as broken and invest the money in a new one...

No I replaced the screen with a genuine service pack one which came pretty much whole. Didn't heat anything just swapped them over and turned it on. Advice I got was that it was because I put on the i9300 screen on is why I couldn't restore my imei number.
Now selling the motherboard if anyone is interested
Hey guyz I want to know something..I had purchased a second hand gs2 from my friend and its working flawlessly except the lcd screen(digitizer) is chinese made super amoled as because its an imported product but except the screen, everything is real I mean the cpu and gpu and all other things inside are from real gs2..bt some moron had replaced the original gs2 screen with a chinese made one and for that some chinese txt coming in the screen which is less visible but annoying. So I want to replace the screen with the original samsung made gs2 screen. If I produce my device to samsung service centre and if they check the imei then they will get to know that its an imported device..
But if I say them that ill pay any amount for replacing the screen, will they replace the screen for me? Need help guyz.

I'd be very surprised if they didn't replace the screen if you pay for it. However, you can probably do it yourself a lot cheaper.

That's similar to what you'd pay for just the screen here (Australia) if you bought one to replace it yourself. I guess you need to decide whether having them do it for the price is good value or not. Even if they end up not doing it, a local mobile repair shop who isn't a Samsung service centre should do it for a similar price I would have thought.

If you let them do it, you can be sure they do it proper (fixation, connection etc.), especially if the replacement screen for itself isn't much cheaper than the whole replacement service.
I had visited samsung service centre and when they had searched my imei number, they found that country showing as unknown..and they told me samsung wont service any phone with unknown imei..is there any way to change the country by editing any file? I want to show them that my gs2 is from india.

Hei,
My Galaxy S3 got water damaged and phone part does not work any more. First there where no sound and I tried replacing Mic and unsolder 2 small resistors and now no SIM card registered. Rest of the phone functions works normally.
I am about to buy a BRAND new mainboard from ebay. I do have efs bsckup and nandroid backup.
My question is how do I move imei to that new mainboard?
Thanks for help in advance.

Mobile phone repair shop.
It is illegal to re-write IMEI's unless you are a mobile phone repair centre. Ergo discussion of such is disallowed on XDA.
Obviously, your request with a new motherboard is genuine, so best advice is to go to a mobiole phone repair shop and get them to write it.
well i my S3 got screwed and its already out of warranty.. so i went to the local repair shop and he said he'll replace the motherboard.
Now my QUESTION is : How will i know if the motherboard he is replacing will be Brand New and not from any other Second hand phone or any used one....
I asked him .. he said it'll be new.. but still i have a doubt about it... as i am paying the price of NEW one..
So how to make sure the replaced motherboard is brand NEW not swapped from any older one ??
You could ask him for the bill or shipment papers that came with the board from samsung or from wherever he got it from.
If its official it should have a serial number or imei that you could verify.
Ask for the packaging it came in.
If it is not new, maybe you could get a reasonable discount.
After all a working mainboard is just as good bee it new or second hand.
Sorry for the bad english.
Cheers.

Thanks !! but can i check with brickbug app if its still insane or not..
I mean if new motherboard will must be non-insane i guess... or it could be insane ??
who knows?
It could be from an older stock or brand new stock.
Thats the downside off mass prudoction in your case.
You can always verify it with those apps.
Until you have it in your hands it is a 50-50 gamble.
Hope you get what you want.
Let us know how it ends up.
Cheers.

Well i think i can't do nothing about it..
I will make sure from him at least assure me that it won't become dead again soon
atleast will be good for 1.5 years ..
today he said to come tomorrow as he was busy putting IMIEI number on the motherboard..
IF it means that ITS NEW MOTHERBOARD ??
NEW MOTHERBOARD= have to regsiter new IMEI ???
or he'll put my old IMEI from dead Motherboard to new one ??
as the older motherboard is already dead then how do old IMEI is transferred to new one ??
Well from this i think that ITS NEW MOTHERBOARD AS NEW MOTHERBOARD HAVE NO IMEI AT DEFAULT and YOU HAVE To MANUALLY PUT IT IN ??

So my t mobile (unlocked ) V10 bootlooped and i've come across a working t mobile motherboard with a bad imei.I'm in Canada, so it should still work correct?
I'm only trying to repair this thing because its a great phone aside from the faulty heat dissipation design. If you look inside the v10 , the thermal pad LG uses is ridiculous.i'm pretty sure it doesn't even contact with the processor when assembled.I'm also going to add a better themal pad and apply thermal paste to better cool and prevent the bootloop.
My only question is, if the bad imei board will work in Canada?
I still have my old board can i swap imei with it?
Swapping imei is legal in Canada and i would be doing it using the imei of my old broken motherboard so please no BS about that or how i'd be using the board of a potentially stolen/financed/lost phone.
Any input would help!
thanks
