Do ROMs/kernels/etc made for the ST18i also work for the ST18a?
Or does the fact that the ST18a has different UMTS bands (850/1900/2100) mean that development for the ST18i is not compatible with the ST18a?
I have ST18a installed with fxp kernel and MIUI rom, everything works fine.
Thanks for the info.
Are you using it on AT&T in the US? If so, are your HSPA speeds using fxp/MIUI as fast as they were on the stock rom?
My concern is that since HSPA on the ST18i is 900/2100, which is different from the ST18a, that the phone will appear to be fully functioning but that my HSPA actually will not be working.
I use my phone with ORANGE and my HSPA works great with MIUI and stock rom
Do you know what HSPA bands Orange uses?

Just wondering that what is the difference between Asia and EU stock roms?
asia rom has full RTL language support, other than that it seems to be more outdated and slow on updates than the EU one
I totally agree with you. I've flashed the EU latest version 2.3.6 on my Optus AU. i'm getting better signal and much much better battery life.

hi
i have the razr maxx gsm international version and i wonder if i can use the razr roms with the maxx?
what is the best rom to use if i can use the same rom?
I guess you can use any gsm rom or any cdma rom with the gsm hack. I think the only difference is just physical battery and chasis.
I am using the gsm t-mobile leaked ics rom. I deactivated the bloatware and changed the boot screen to std moto. You can use this too with cwm.

This runs as well as any ics rom i have tried on any phone. Everything works with good battery.

thx alot i will give it a try
Hi, I am using Photon for my GSM. I have unlocked my phone and right now using MIUI ROM.
Can anyone suggest me which is the best available stable ROM for my photon with very less issues. Please help.
peetr's 2.3.5 Hybrid. It offer's the most in advantages vs stability. The current version has very few bugs and is extremely stable. It may not be "cool" but then again neither was Imperium.
1. Can we ange the status bar to be like MIUI ?
2. Do the softkey light works fine ?
3. Can i able con to sync facebook contacts and displays their photos and details in contacts with native apps without using Hexsync or something ?
Please give a reply .
ic4 roms not stable as u think
i tried 3 diffrent rom parinoid aokp and cm9 none were stable my phone wold randomly reboot when not being used , net flix dosent work issues with the kick stand mode i thought they all lacked the attension to detail since motorola makes things a lil harder soposidly
I second the choice of peetr's 2.3.5 rom. It works great and has been virtually bug free. I've tried stock, Imperium, paranoid, cm9, and cm7 also and the only one I can get data on aside from peetr's is cm7. I'm trying out simplemobile on my photon to see how t-mobiles network is.
Back to Stock
I unlocked my Photon to work with the AT&T and then decided to try some different roms. I think I want to go back to stock rom but keep unlock, how can I do that?

just nandroid restore your stock ROM. given you backed that up like you should have.

How is that rom going so far?
Did you used some fix or something?
peetr_'s 2.3.5 Hybrid is the best.
but for the adventurous people; cm10 alpha is getting along well with gsm network. better than cm9 alpha.
all CM9 have bugs
as i tried different CM9 ROM, all of them had major bugs, unless if you are considering camcorder not major part of the phone, even the alpha CM10 have the same bug and more.
for me i had to wait until an official release from Motorola
I think cm10 beta by jokersax with gapps v3 is better even though in the beta stage smooth and fast with small issues like white screen in camera application(but mind you jelly bean camera takes awesome photos even with the white screen) camcorder issues and themes not able to apply

I hope the GSM function will keep working on the new versions of CM10 that are going to come...

Canadian i9300 users - What modem works good for you?
Please share what modem works good for you in achieving good data speeds.
Thanks.
I am very interested in this as well. I'm currently running DXLF3(stock Omega 9.1) and it's "ok, but definitely looking for other possibilities for better signal strength and such. I am located in Ottawa.
Would like to know too. Currently on xxella but I feel that it could be better.

Where can I find?
In the stickies in development I just see all the ICS ones
I think there are only ICS modems right now. When and if JB is official then we may see some modems.
Correct me if I am wrong.

You can find all the modems in this thread. It is under the heading kernel/modems in the first post.

There are yet to be any JellyBean modems, as far as i know. You could try to flash an ICS Modem (not sure if it would brick phone or not). Best thing to do is just wait!
A modem is not dependent on the android version. There is no such thing as an ICS or GB or JB modem. Flash any you want.

If that is the case, how do I figure out what modem a ROM is using? While using xXX I got great coverage. On new liquid, not as good it seems.
So I could find out and flash over with the XXX modem and be happy? Or are there other considerations?

Just download a few modems to your sd card and flash one, let it settle on for several hours, and decide if you keep it or dump it. Then move on to the next candidate. Eventually you will find the modem that gives best results for your area. I like the LF6 modem.
I've tried various roms, and none of them would give me LTE no matter which modem I used. Best I could do is 4G at non-LTE speeds. I really like JB, but have gone back to stock ICS on my Rogers Note, so that I can enjoy the LTE capabilities of my Note (after all it aint an iphone 5!) LOL Probably will have LTE in some of the roms soon enough, either that of official JB!

You can get LTE w/ Rogers for any of the ROM's posted, whether they are TW based, CM9/CM10/AOSP/AOKP.
Just requires some tweaking.
If you need help, let me know.
<--Rogers in Toronto - Currently on Paranoid JB ROM, my LTE speeds are between 25-42MB depending on where I am.

4G is LTE. Since the modem is the same for JB, the speed difference you're seeing is either an incorrect APN or simple Placebo.
For myself, I know I need to set a different APN to get full speeds on LTE.

Hopefully you are judging LTE speeds on your phone using something like the speedtest site or app and NOT the little icon that appears in your notification area.
On the liquid jellybean rom the 4g icon IS LTE speed as verified by the above mentioned app. You should flash the Rogers modem for best results.
I am with Bell mobility and use the MUGLF4 modem with liquid jb rom. My speeds in an LTE area in the GTA average about 25 mbps down and about 12mpbs up although I once hit the theoretical limit of 75mpbs in the Dufferin and Major Mackenzie area. I think they must have been doing some testing that day. . I haven't been up there since.
Around Yonge and Steele's, I get 25mbps every day. My phone shows the 4g icon...
I never get LTE because it isn't available in my region.

I'm on Bell with a MUGLF4 modem / KingKang M1 (nov 10) JB 4.1.2 and my phone app FC when receiving or ending a call!
My Speed is around 8mb down and 2mb up (was 14mb/8mb on stock bell)
Should I try a newer Modem?
Any advice welcome
Thanks
Are you 100% sure? The above reply said "(not sure if it will brick your phone or not)" Definitely don't wanna do that.
