Problem with widgets - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Guys I am facing problem with my widgets. When ever I install a new widget it doesn't appear in my widget menu. It only shows those stock widgets that came with cyanogen.I am using cooper kang CYANOGENMOD 7.1...thanx in advance..
Sent from my GT-S5830 using XDA App

did u set applications to install on the sd card ?
widgets are not supported if the app is on sd card.
go to settingsd->applications->manage applications
and then move ur app onto phone memory

Widgets will not work when moved. Your install location must be automatic, not external.
Also if you use link2sd your widgets can function

dude actually i have set my apps to install on SD automatically which created the prob according to you..and it works now...thanks..

[Q] Any app launcher inside other Launcher?

Hello.
My problem is that I used ADW Launcher and now Im starting with Go Launcher
In ADW I could create app groups. That is useful for example for set one group with all apps and other group with the most frequent apps, so I avoided thereby apps that I dont use so much and I hide some apps from other people hehe
But now Go launcher has not got that feature. I only can hide apps but then I cant run them quickly, I have to unhide, run, hide again, everytime
Does exist any app that shows you all app you have installed and you can go and run whichever you want?
Thaaaaanks
Try Folder Organizer (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.abcOrganizer.lite), it's an excellent label-based app manager.
Yeaaah, just tried Apps organicer
(https://market.android.com/details?id=com.google.code.appsorganizer&feature=more_from_developer), from the same dev, and works perfectly, that what I was looking for. Its even simplier than Folder organicer. Just select an app and it run it
So, problem fixed
Thanks so much mate

[Q] Widgets in CM7

I just flashed CM7DX2 and while everything else works fantastically, I can't seem to be able to access Market-downloaded widgets. Stock widgets or Go Launcher's widgets load well, but none of the other widgets I downloaded show up in the launcher's Widgets screen. Help?
I haven't had that issue at all. Sorry. Maybe you should wipe and flash the rom again?
I fixed it. Apparently CM7 doesn't recognize widgets on apps saved to the SD card.

MiniCM7-2.1.9 lets free up some space and memory.

I usually delete the following items...
DSPmanager "free's quite a bit of memory"
GenieWiget "since the buttons in the status bar do it all anyway"
Google quick search bar.
But i'm sure there's more i could get rid of.
What else can we remove without destroying stability?
i always delete this items in .zip before flashing minicm. of course, you can delete those apps if you have already flashed rom. just use: a) titanium backup and delete them there, OR b) use root explorer and navigate to system/apps and remove unwanted apps.
androidian - 4MB - useless theme for me, which even isnt ldpi
applicationsProvider - Fetches the list of applications installed on the phone to provide search suggestions.
browser - 320 kb - really bad browser, i use dolphin browser hd
calculator - i use realcalc
cmstats
cmupdatenotify
cmwallpapers - 2,5MB
cyanbread - 3,6 MB also useless theme
dspmanager - always drains battery in background, and i really havent see any difference in playing music with it
email -1,5 MB - there are better alternatives
file manager - i use rootexplorer
gallery - use quickpic app instead, it's amazing and super fast
htmlviewer
latinime - 13 MB - i dont use this keyboard, its really too hard to use it on our devices, when you delete it, automatically is used standard multitap sony keyboard
livewallpapers - 3,8 MB if you dont use them you can delete this too
livewallpaperspicker
orangehaze - 1,7 MB - also, i don't use this theme
pacman - i think that this app asks you which gapps you want to install on first boot
picotts - text to speech
protips - that annoying android guy what is providing you tips on first boot after flashing
userdictionary provider - needeed for latin ime
quicksearchbox 1,0 MB - i also dont use this, on mini pro, when opening keyboard on launcher, that search box launches.
soundrecorder - also, i use different apps for this purpose
voice dial
voice search
vpn services
there are more apps that can safely be removed, this is just my standard 'setup'.
at start, rom was about 90,5 MB in size, and after removing this apps got to 66,9 MB.
look my system free memory ^^

Hi people!as i said in a previous post I'm really happy with this thread because my phone is now better than ever. But i was wondering one thing. Do you think it would be possible to delete adw launcher if u have other launcher? I'm using Zeam launcher...,Has anyone tried? Now titanium backup says i have 65 mb of free Ram, if it was possible it would be even more! Haha madness for freedom of Ram...

Of course!I didn't see it from that point. Thx man, but how could i install in system? Could u help me? in the meanwhile, if i don't do factory reset i won't have trouble booting with only zeam, will I? In that case if I need factory reset i could reflash the ROM and adw and the whole stuff would be there, don't u think? however i think I'm going to try because I've deleted three more things i couldn't find before like androidian and cyanbread themes, and Latinime and i reached 85mb of free ram according to titanium backup
However if u could answer my questions i would appreciate it
Hi people! I think I've reached my maximum! I've deleted everything mentioned here, in Pedrocell optimal configuration thread and everything i thought wasn't dangerous ;-) like adw launcher having other launcher installed in inside memory, useless themes mentioned here, cm notifications, cm stats, pro tips, setup wizard (which is only used the first time u run the ROM)... I suggest u to see everything u have going through the copy restore menu of titanium backup and carefully uninstall all u won't need... This is my result! ;-)

Ive deleted all of that stuff and I have the same free mem 85mb and to get zeam into system/app u have to download zeam from a diffrent source than the market I cant post links because of xdas rules then with root explorer copy and paste zeam to system/app then change permissions to 755 wich is tick all the boxes on left hand side and on top line tick the middle one then exit then reboot
BUT before u delete adw make sure it boots proplery with zeam installed just to be on the safe side hope this helps ya pal ;-)

Now our phone is a missile! and I'm using Swype beta again because i love it but it consumed too much ram, Now it doesn't matter any more! [Q] Custom launchers can't stay in memory

I don't know if this is normal to Ace nowadays but I just have this problem recently
When I use some custom launchers (Xperia, GO Launcher, ADW, etc.) and opened up some system apps (phone, contacts, and the likes) then try using the Stock task manager.. those launchers are being killed.. leaving the system app / stock launcher intact after I press the back button.
It's just pretty annoying that I still need to press the Home button just to show/revert back to those launchers...
Is this is really a problem and are there any fixes for it?
thanks

Even this seems to kill the launchers.
You may need to select "Keep in memory" or similar in your launcher options.
If you are rooted and have a root file explorer you can make a backup of the system launcher by copying the apk (and dex file if included) to your SD card, then move the app from your preferred launcher to system/app with Rw,R, R permissions and delete the stock launcher from the system/app folder. Then reboot.
Also many launchers have the system persistent option, try enabling it.

Is because the stock task manager is made by Samsung, it doesn't like third party apps.
you could use a different task manager from play store.
I don't use task manager's, android will kill processes when it needs to.
Sent from my GT-S5830 using my hands
Well mate anyway you try, 3rd party launchers will always be killed by task manager. You can't keep them fully in memory. However if you don't like TW launcher, just delete apk and dex from system/app using root explorer and install any other launcher before doing so. It'll never appear again
hmm should I rename the new launcher to the deleted apk?
like GoLauncherAPK.apk to TouchWiz30Launcher.apk?
or just directly move it to the app folder

No. Go launcher will work. Just install it normally.

not really Go Launcher.. just a sample name lol
Well anyway you don't need to rename.

hmm tried moving the launcher to system/app but still being killed by task manager.... tried renaming it still same problem.. o.o

Bro i already told you that third party launchers will be killed by task manager. Moving them to system, renaming them, nothing would help. They can't be locked in memory unless any developer tries to do so.

[Q] Why are some of my apps. in the drawer missed after reboot in Touchwiz 5?

Okay, it's my first time posting...
I wanna ask about the Touchwiz 5 ported from SGS III to SGS II which available in many threads here...
I have a problem, this launcher always misses my apps. in the drawer...
I mean they aren't uninstalled, but they aren't listed in the drawer....
But, if I restart the launcher (by killing the launcher and start it again), they are listed in the drawer...
I know it's something like bug...
anyone have problem like this??
what's the solution...??
thanks to you all...
I have this issue too. But i have one more.... gray SD icons on apps(moved to sd) are displaying after boot. I must kill launcher..... I dont have any solution. I remember TW 4.0 restarts not long after boot.
Yeah it's well known bug.You can't see applications stored on sd on first run.You can move the app to internal memory(i use titanium backup to do that)or restart the app like you do after each reboot.
Well, move apps on internal memory and/or try to wipe cache of tw (for me it worked)
