Hi Valued mozart seniors i hope someone can give me an affirmatative response as i ve trawlled the net for the last 10 hrs hoping to find a solution to downgrade the bootloader (it was really stupid of me to jump straight to 7720 fr 7004-1.28) without 1st going tru the forum and understanding what problems i may face if i want custom roms (salivating ::
My question is am i stuck on 5xxx bcos i tried to flash RUU_mozart htc 1.28..728 but was unsuccessful and my current recovery is also on 5xxx. I read in a post that is virtually impossible to revert back that is why i m seeking an opinion.
If this is really the case then i ve to get rid of this one and look for one that is still in virgin state as i love to try the custom roms
I re-update the 7720 on the ph it says 4xxx but in bootloader screen it is 5xxx
Thanks in advance
Greetings,
Did you update your Mozart from Zune the official way or flash a ROM with RUU? If you updated through Zune then a backup should have been made which you can restore from. After restore allow Zune to check the device for updates and begin the process.
Using my case as an exmaple and referring to build numbers, my Zune backup was build 7390. 1st update was to 7392, second to 7404 I believe, 3rd to Mango at 7720, then the 4th update was the HTC specific released just recently. I chose to cancel the update process to avoid installing this update, and was surprised to see that at some point during the update (likely when Mango was installed) my bootloader had returned to 4.XX! I could then flash an official O2 ROM containing a 1.XX bootloader and successfully run the RSPL patch followed by the HSPL patch.
The above procedures seem to have been a success, whereas attempting to downgrade using RUU failed. Of course in order for this to work, you must have a proper backup of your previous ROM in Zune.
I hope this helps.

Yes i did the update with zune which also made a recovery for me unfortunately both time when i did recovery and reupdate the bootloader was 5xxx only consolation is at the last update i got internet sharing, actually a big bonus. I love to ve custom roms,my biggest mistake was not trying it whilst my bootloader was 1.28 and jumping onto mango update straightaway. As i m very new to wp7 i ve to figure how to do a backup recovery for my current rom before i start messing around again, incidentally, am i able to use zune to create the backup? i could'nt find the option. Thanks for yr response

First of all hello to this great forum and peoples. Im following the development of this forum serveral month and there are some things that are waiting for my tytn (MDA Vario II) here. The only problem until now for me was that there wasnt a way to backup my actual rom which i would need for guarantee purposes. As i understood its not possible to backup a rom with the original bootloaders cause of singning and encryption. Some time ago i saw that there is a hacked bootloader which enables to boot load unsigned roms. My question now is, is it possible with that bootloader to backup my actual ROM or not and if not, why.
Why do you need to make an image from your device?
The best backup you can have is the actual ROM update from from your carrier.
I have all three Cingular Released RUU Packages and after upgrading to several different Roms I have always been able to return to my original installed Rom.
Of course the first thing I did was downgrade and Super-CID Unlock (thanks pof).
the problem is just that there isnt an update rom from my carrier (T-Mobile Austria). there only rom available is the one on my device and in short time there wont be an upgrade rom from my carrier. as i mentioned the only need for this backup is my guarantee that i will lose if i hack my device and cant restore the original one.
@nova-2nd: At the moment there's not an easy way of doing what you want. Commands to dump rom to/from SD card have been removed in all hermes bootloader versions.
i bought my phone unlocked from the 3 mobile network UK. i
it had build 2.73.771.62 CL#80033 release-keys
first question, can i root this as is? many guides say to downgrade but none of the ruus seem to be compatible. cid errors.
second, which ruus can i downgrade to anyway? it has to be an original 3 mobile rom right?
third, which was the first available 3 mobile build.
last, im i screwed wrt rooting?
EDIT:
adb devices lists my hero, however, fastboot doesnt. this means it cant be rooted as is right?
does the CID error mean i didnt do the goldcard method correctly? i was worried when i had a letter in my cid generation after cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc1/mmc1:*/cid
H3G released their first Rom this week. Prior to this were pre installed.
To root yours follow Goldcard method or this one>>>
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=559613
Treat it as though you have flashed rom currently running in your Hero.
im more comfortable doing the goldcard method.
using goldcard, is it ok to have a letter in the cid? cos i have one and fear thats the reason mine isnt working. we're working with hex so alphabets are ok, ignore.
also, which ruu do you recommend i use to downgrade.
btw, what do you mean by "treat it as though you have flashed rom currently in you hero" you mean like i have upgraded it already?
thanks.
Yes if you are following second option. But ignore what I stated. Personally I am more comfortable with non goldcard therory simply because you could be near complition and getting frustrated only to find that your cd card is at fault.
There have been several cases of sd card let down.
mine seems to be letting me down too. ive used the stock and some other samsung card. cid errors still. btw, what allocation size im i to use to format? or is formatting with the phone ok.
ended up trying flashrec .. backup failed.
installing the patched recovery image didnt work either, new hboot.
---------------
so i cant install the patched recovery image because of the new hboot
which is because of the build im running on, so my only option is installing a previous build to get the old hboot
but 3 mobiles earliest build is 2.73.771.62 ... which is what im using
so i have to install a build from another network, hence need to goldcard ... which seems to be failing
---------------
^^ correct above if im wrong ^^
i think im going to cry. i cant use my phone until i do this cos i cant imagine setting everything up again.
what do you advise?
I think according to post #23 it is possible to root.
Anybody successfully rooted his/her Hero from 3 network? How did you manage to do it? Possible to give some guides to member arimozuki??
Thanks.
OMG! finally done ... thanks for all your help!
i was randomly looking at my friends 5800, asked for his 8gb card, plugged in, goldcarded and downgrade worked!!! w00t. but this was a week ago; needless to say, my phone is not a virgin anymore ... alot of rape
thanks much.
I know the thread is old but I would just like to add the Hero on 3 can now be rooted using Androot, which allows you to avoid the goldcard method. Was able to root, flash a recovery image, backup and put a new rom on with minimal fuss
When i bought my HTC Flyer last Year i made it S-OFF immediately using Revolutionary.
After a couple of months, HTC asked me to update my device to a newer firmware.
So i backed up all my data and tried it.
When i stared the device, a warning droid appeared on the screen.
So i restored my data and still everything works fine.
But i a still on 2.3.3 and i really want to use the newest Version working with Revolutionary.
So here are my problems:
1. I don't know how to remove Revolutionary
2. To install (or update) Revolutionary, i need another hboot version
(mine is 6.10.1002 and i need 1.10.0000 or 1.11.0003)
So how to update my hboot ?
3. What possibilities i got, concerning the update of my device ?
4. I searched for my specific RRU to flash my device but i could't find or identify it?
Which one should i download ?
Information about my Flyer
I have the Wifi-Editon from a local store in germany, so i have no specific Branding from Vodafone or Tmobile.
Its current Firmware Version is 2.3.3
Hboot is 6.10.1002
I rooted it with Revolutionary
I would be really amused if you would pay some attention to my thread and try to help me
if you want HC follow this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1358758
Thank you very much
This really helped me
BUT
After the installation, i tried to use a backup from Revolutionary and now my screen is stuck on the htc sign when it starts.
(Unfortunately i havent made a backup after the installation of HC )
please close this thread
I will make a new one, showing my problem in the Title

They don't close threads here, just because the OP no longer has a use for it. They are left open, in case other people want to comment, or for the benefir of people that may encounter a similar issue.
For future reference, don't EVER EVER EVER install an official OTA update to an S-Off/rooted Android device. At a minimum, the update won't work. At the worst, the update may remove root (may be difficult or impossible to re-root), or you might be stuck unable to boot. Pre-rooted versions of updates usually end up getting posted in the Development subforum (like the one posted in a previous response), and often very quickly after the official OTAs go out. THOSE are safe to flash.
Hello,
PC Companion says that i have a new update, but i've unlocked and rooted my phone, so when the install should begin, an error pops up saying that i have a modded firmware and i cannot update it.
So, i think the same issue will go on when next week or next year ICS will be released.
The question is: what i have to do to update my XS? I've to flash the ftf loosing the recovery and then reinstall it? Doing that, i will lost all the apps and everything on my phone?
Thank You very much
If you have unlocked bootloader, you cannot update using the official method, but only through flashtool.
If for some reason you want to use the official way, you should relock the bootloader, here is the guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527159
As far as my knowledge goes: You could backup your apps, lock your bootloader, upgrade to ICS, unlock bootloader, achieve root, restore apps. You'll probably have to wait for root for ICS though, shouldn't take long at all.
Or at least that's how I hope it will work.
So, the faster way is to wait for a custom rom correctly packed to be flashed via recovery
Thank guys
Hi Guys, I just installed what I believe the accompanying Tango firmware for Titan 1 (see attached screen capture). For those who have read my previous thread on debranding AT&T Titan to Euro 2.5 rom, this also confirm that you can easily reflash stock rom on DFT hspl'ed phone using RUU.
To revert to stock rom, I used the TitanAdvancedRUU to flash stock euro rom v2.5 then used the cab sender to update to spl 2.6. At this point, I connected my phone to zune hoping to get an update notice but no joy What I did after this was to force update from 8107 to 8773 using a cab sender (see post from AlvinPhilemon http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306415&page=106) The Tango update somehow triggered the firmware update from Zune.
The Zune update took roughly around 20-30mins, when it reboots the phone it was stuck on the htc boot page for about 10mins at this point I manually restarted the phone, and this time around it boot up and completed updated
I haven't noticed any changes that i can tell outright from previous version but i'm hoping that this might rectify stock rom known bugs eg. random reboot, wifi signal etc... on the second thought maybe the display font looks much better /cleaner maybe its just me
Hmmm I see on the first screen that after update you have 4.6 bootloader version (and SPL). I think now you can't install HSPL and I don't know whether you can do downgrade for install HSPL and customROMs.

Ok, I wait for info.

With this new bootloader 4.6, I can confirm that this does not allow direct downgrade of SPL to install HSPL.:crying: ... even gold card method doesn't work. Initially I thought that I will be stuck with this stock rom which is not bad considering that I have an up to date rom and firmware installed... but not as good of having a fully unlocked phone Anyway, I tried re-installing stock Euro rom 2.05 first using RUU, but I got an invalid vendor, so proceeded using goldcard but I got "not allowed" on usb mode and kick back to spl screen. As last resort I tried the stock cingular rom 1.10 using RUU lo and behold it proceeded to complete the flash and I end up with bootloader 1.10 (see screen shot) Following this I thought it will be an easy way back to installing DFT spl2.5 and hspl by the same route I've taken before that is to debrand to Euro rom 2.05 using gold card method but strangely it wouldn't allow me, I got "not allowed" thingee after entering to usb mode At this stage I was really worried that maybe my phone was stuffed from whatever thing that was installed from htc bootloader 4.6 or maybe my goldcard is not actually working. So tried flashing cingular rom using gold card method and it did work. I tried few times to flash euro roms (diffferent versions) but without success. I even tried updating to spl 2.6 then flash euro rom to debrand but again failed... so out of desperation I decided to flash DFT spl 2.5 and the most strange thing happened it was installed then I proceeded with hspl this also went through without a glitched and now I am back on CUSTOM ROM!!! whew... for those who are now running custom rom, especially for AT&T Titan phone version, please don't mess up with your phone and try what I just been through... not a nice experience at all, I think its dumb luck that I got back to custom rom:angel:
LOL
Thanks fro sharing m8 ...
New to the board - I hope my first question is not that stupid.
Got a new (European / German, unbranded) Titan yesterday.
Zune updated to 8773, automatically without any force today.
But it wouldn't get the HTC update (I was still on bootloader 2.6.xxx).
So I used the cab sender with the original HTC update (found it on this board) - it worked without any problem and I have the same versions as posted on the pic in the first message (bootloader 4.6.175006.2(140733)).
My question is: Will I be able to receive official Zune updates after that? Or am I stuck to the cab sender for future updates (7.8 & co.)?!
My device is not flashed or changed in any way - just used that HTC update cab...
Couldn't find a quick answer to that...
THANKS ! :fingers-crossed:

Short answer yes, you will still get official (future) updates from Zune. I reckon if you have waited a bit longer, you would have received update notification from Zune but doesn't matter anyway now that you have the updated firmware.
I have an AT&T branded HTC Titan, and aside from the wifi bug, my device generally works as expected. I used the cab sender "force update" method to upgrade to Tango, and again-- everything is pretty solid.
Can I (and should I consider) update the HTC firmware for general device fixes if I have no intention of unlocking the device?

The available cab htc firmware update is for Euro/International/unbranded Titan, so this will not install on AT&T branded Titan. It will come with error it you try to install the cab.
this is very confused
