Hi!
I am playing around with the ADW Launcher EX and realized that certain HTC Sense widgets were meeting that I like. Is there an ADW equivalent widget for HTC Sense Calendar (lists the Agenda) and Mail?
Thanks.
--raheel
Launcher pro has a calendar widget and facebook widget just like stock sense, but I don't think ADW does.

Figured out the same....adw doesn't like sense widgets for some reason.

that would be because they are sense widgets, and therefore do not work on any othewr launcher besides the sense launcher. I know, I dont like this either, as Id love to be able to interchange ADW EX and other launchers at times, but sadly this is not yet possible.

actually it's the other way around the stock/Sense widgets are proprietary to HTC, however there are some "copycat" apps to give you the feel of Sense.
i use koxx pure widgets and they rock!
What's that? Can't find it the market.

I just started using "Colorize Widget". I came from HTC Sense just like you, then played around with "Pure Messenger" Widget from Francois DESLANDES, but found it a little buggy at times (I even bought the paid version). The developer however is TOP NOTCH and responds to you almost instantly!
Now have been using the Colorize Widget (in the Market) and its more refined--shows Facebook pictures and you can "like" something and easily post a comment etc. You cannot do that with Pure. I have only been using Colorize for about 3 days, but was worth the $3.49 to get the "TimeLine" feature which groups FB and Twitter and SMS if you want into one widget just like Sense did. It also has the Agenda widget as you also request. The one thing it doesn't have is ability to add a photo if you are going to post a status update. Sense was able to do this (I have a Mytouch 4G)
Hope this helps...

As someone mentioned earlier in the thread, if you love the Sense widgets but want a different launcher with more options, Launcher Plus Pro is your friend. I've been a big fan of Sense since flashing it onto my mytouch 3g, but it's not perfect. The eye-soar of a dock was the worst IMO. Anyway, tried some alternative launchers but always missed the awesome Sense widgets. Long story short, I finally got around to trying Launcher Plus Pro, and it's got everything: a full-featured, totally customizable launcher (including awesome scrolling dock), and the most Sense-like widgets I've seen. It's got calendar, gmail, friends, contacts, bookmarks, sms. Not only do the widgets look a lot like Sense widgets, but IMO they work BETTER than their Sense equivalent. For example, the calendar widget allows you to switch between 'grid' and 'agenda' view within one widget, and the 'Friends' widget (LPP version of Friendstream) is super quick to post, while Friendstream looked cool but was SOOOOO slow. You don't get ALL the sense widgets, but you get most of the big very useful ones.
Just my $.02 - if you like sense widgets but hate other aspects of the sense launcher, give it a try.
Pure Calendar by Coxx
+1 for Pure Calendar even if it is not free.
--> koxx3.wordpress.com/pure-widgets-descriptions/pure-grid-calendar
And a good alternative app to "Launcher Plus Pro" is "Go Launcher Ex" with Free widget like calendar, clock..
Wondering especially if folks who had been using say ADW or LauncherPro have now opted for Sense and how they like comparatively.

HTC Sense, not because I want to, but because with our phones not being rooted, and HTC Sense being so deeply integrated, it is almost pointless to run another launcher, as they both will be running at the same time no matter what you set as default.

umm..this is not true... Like any launcher, if you are not currently using Sense as your default launcher it does not run. Sure HTC still has processes and what not running on the phone. Mostly for their integrated apps. But the widgets and launcher itself are not using memory if they are not running.
sense... if I didnt want to run sense I would get the nexus... I know everyone has a preference but why get the greatest phone on earth and take away its soul?
adw ex ehh jk sense
Don't like sense since I can't hide the taskbar and dockbar. So I use adw x

I have licenses for ADW EX and Launcher Pro, and I'm sticking with Sense for now. I also have SPB launcher, and may try that one out.
The phone has just been solid and run very well with the stock browser so I figure why mess with it.
Great thing though with the quick settings in the pulldown menu you don't have to worry about finding widget replacements for the radios anymore when you switch launchers.
So far I have stuck with Sense. I have not been a fan of Sense in the past and have a paid subscription to ADW EX. In my opinion I have never used a phone that had the hardware capabilities to run Sense the way it is meant to be ran, until now. the 3DEV0 is more than capable of running it and runs it quite well actually. I may still give ADW EX a shot, but for now I am giving Sense a chance to win me over which is something it has not done yet.
Sense...for now

ADW Launcher EX. Sense's bottom bar irritates me too much, and the exceedingly tall vs. wide screen is perfect for a 4x5 layout instead of the 4x4 default.

My processes tell me differently
Started out with SPB 3D Shell, but been using sense the last day or so just to get to know it.... Pretty sweet so far. Probably bounce back and forth.
Is there any launcher just as htc phones have...please if there any?
It looks so classy......
Its a request if any one can make it
I think your best bet is to install a custom launcher such as adw or launcherpro and apply a theme. Although I do think there are launchers made to mimic sense, however it will be far from the real thing

Try 'HeLauncher' from market...It has htc skin in themes menu...
so here it is, a once and for all......
BATTLE of LAUNCHERS
Go Launcher Ex VS Rosie VS Apex VS Nova VS ADW VS GDE VS ZEAM VS Ts Shell VS 360 VS Spb Shell VS Panda Home VS Launcher Pro VS Launcher7 VS Android Severn Pro VS Launcher (default)
Let the battle commence
please give your reasons why
Go Launcher Ex, with Go Notification added on, also, skinned ics/cyanogen
Go Keyboard, skinned ics blue with arrows
Go Contacs/dialer, skinned ics blue
Go SMS, skinned ics blue
by far the most customizable, and superior launcher ui, ive tried, with loads of advanced features in all of them above, regualr updates, and hundreds and hundreds of 3rd party add-ons
Using nova launcher right now and I like it. Works really good. Before ICS I used adw ex and launcher pro.

I'm using golauncher aswell, would be using others if I could, half these new launchers aren't compatible with sense 3.0

NOVA
I have never been a fan of launchers, I like sense everytime I set up a launcher I would always go back to sense. I have found that I really like NOVA and have been using it now for a few day and I think Im actually gonna keep it.
I havent tried Apex though... going to go dl it now
Voted for Rosie as it's the funnest to theme along with the widgets. Plus in Sense the 3D effects are much smoother than launchers with similar transitions (and it looks better imo)
Go launcher Ex. I like the widgets and themes.

I am back on ADW EX and still feel it offers the best UI with hidden dock, gestures, customizable, widget resizing, etc. Dev support is now pretty much dead unfortunately.
Still love Launcher Pro Plus. He made some great widgets, but not quite as good as ADW. Again dev support appears dead.
Go Launcher is very good, I just got sick of the bookmarks widget switching back to navigation. For a widget lover like me it's alot of options. Great support.
The ONLY thing I like about Rosie is the widgets. Best in class widgets. Can't customize, number of home screens,... Without a scrolling dock it won't suffice for me.

Used ADW alot when I was on gingerbread. But since switching to ICS I went from NOVA to Apex. To me Apex just seemed smoother.

One more for apex here...
here is my own personal rundown:
1. Apex
2. GO L EX
all others in my opinion lack the functionality and clean ass look of both of those. GO launcher was the only one I would even touch before ICS was available for the 3D. Apex is designed for ICS imo because it is the only OS that will run it cleanly.
Downside to both is that they are memory hogs. Apex launcher accumulates memory usage over a period of time (I have seen it as high as 60mb) but a quick restart cleans it up to 30 or so.
Rosie for me. The whole sense experience has it's detractors but it's one of the reasons why I even looked at an HTC phone. With 3.6 and 4.0 reducing the bloat and cleaning up it makes it an even more attractive option.
Yes sure it doesn't have the flexibility and functionality of other launchers but the look and the amazing widgets IMO plays a large part in making our phones stand out. It's always nice to have the choice though.
I dont think that any launcher can beat Go Launcher Ex. Simple it's the best.

I have been using Lightning Launcher on all my devices for quite a while now.
It's blazing fast and incredibly customizable, just not as intuitive/user-friendly as popular launchers like Go Launcher.
You can have a desktop that's freely scrollable on both x and y axis. There's support for widgets, but scrollable widgets are harder to use in said free mode, obviously.
It's one of the very few launchers that's written from scratch and is not based on the stock aosp launcher. Give it a try if you want to see something new. Just don't expect the same level of user interaction that Go Launcher of even TSF Shell offer.
It takes some time to get used to it, but in my opinion, it's perfectly worth it
The best launcher after "htc Sense" is Apex
I've been using MiHome for ics. It works nicely.

Using mainly go launcher ex, but I have nova, sense 3.6 (Sensation 4g) and apex on my phone and I have been slowly but surly setting them up. Nova is fast and buttery smooth and so is apex but I like nothing beats the customization of go launcher ex for me.
Nova launcher ftw

Voted for Rosie, the reason why I choose HTC devices is sense, HTC without sense will make no sense
For me,Sense is the best!
I've always wondered if it was possible to use HTC's widgets (specifically the clock and weather widgets) on CM9 or any other custom rom for that matter. I've always been limited to only using Sense custom roms because I really enjoy HTC widgets. Thanks!
Sense widgets only work on Sense ROMs
though there are similar widget skins available for Beautiful Widgets and for Fancy Widgets

Similar does not equal same though. I really like the HTC Sense clock and weather widget. Its truly beautiful. And its truly a flip clock with the flip animation. The ones from Beautiful Widgets and Fancy Widgets don't compare imo. They don't look as good and they don't do the animations...

even more so with the Sense 4.0 version being much better than the older ones, unfortunately, it's one of the trade-offs of switching launchers, or to AOSP ROMs.

I have a hard time believing these devs can't find a way to recreate that flip clock. They can't rip that out of a sense ROM?

I believe that Sense apps and widgets are proprietary and require libraries that are only found in Sense ROMS. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I would also love the Sense clock on an alternative launcher.... Its awesome
The problem is all sense widgets work off the sense framework and sense resources. That's what makes it difficult to port to a aosp Rom.

I was hoping to come back to this thread and see better news. So is it official? No HTC weather or clock on any other roms? HTC really messed up with the way they handle multitasking in my opinion. That is why I need to go to a different rom. I just want to take the clock and the weather with me
see the thing is. it wouldn't necessarily be all that difficult to port them over its just that they can't... their HTC's widgets not googles. there is weird licencing and such around it which is why you can't find anything that looks JUST like them in the market and why they have never been in aosp roms or in launcher other than the htc launcher that comes on htc phones.

So are you saying the creators of these roms may get sued by HTC if they included the clock and weather widget in there rom? Or are you saying it is impossible to find these widgets because they aren't a simple file or apk? Sorry if this is a basic question

both, they're APKs, but they're also 100% completely tied to HTC's Sense framework and files, so they're never gonna be found outside of a Sense ROM, and it's also why they're not available outside of the Sense launcher.
You could try:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1627140
Sense is built DEEP into the ROM. You can't just rip a piece out of it and expect it to work
Or, you may want to look at these -
