According to the Amaze user manual, the install files for HTC Sync are supposed to be on the SD card. I don't see the files on the drive when I connect.
Has anyone gotten Sync to work with the Amaze?

I noticed that as well. Just download it from HTC directly.

It works for me. I use it to sync some music playlists and keep my photos up-to-date.

Since the Telus version doesn't come with an SD card (didn't think the T-mobile did either) I also just downloaded from HTC.

Ok..just a misunderstanding of terms then. I thought it was called internal memory rather than internal sd card.

I got it installed and synced up everything. My contacts list is quite interesting, and it doubled the calendar items. But I'm using business calendar (marketplace) and it allows me to deselect "sync" calendar, so that is good. The contacts app from Sense allows one to select which source to view, so that is also OK.
Thanks to those who helped.

Try google with this phrase "windows 8.1 and htc sync manager":
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wind...rVersion=3&Type=Software&tempOsid=Windows+8.1
You can search around to find out if ADB drivers are compatible with windows 8.1, and then search around to see if there are any alternatives to sync that will work with those drivers, perhaps in xda-developers or in the Play Store.

what would be the easiest way to sync all of my media on my HTC Inspire, to my Flyer?
i always have both on me, but i dont want to copy everything on my phone to my flyer.
thanks
Dropbox fills that gap for me. It's not real-time sync, but allows me to download files for viewing. Good for music storage.
Never came up with a workflow to upload revised files from an Android device, but I guess it's time to figure one out. Can't remember if the dropbox client allows uploading... Ok, just tried and it does.
i agree and would use it.. anybody here a developer and know if its possible?
it would be a lot easier texting from the flyer, at the least
There's an application on the market that uses drop box to sync text so you can text from the flyer. It's called "sync sms". It works really well and the developer looks to be planning on improving it even more.

I don't wish to use my computer. I tried and I would have to one by one upload the hundreds of pics and songs from my phone to dropbox. If I'm going to do all that I might as well copy everything on my phone SD card to another card and put in the flyer.
How about DLNA? Recommended app that would allow me to utilize that between devices?

Might be able to thru connected media if you were both on the same wifi network and your phone supported it.
OK so I took some pictures and when I rebooted my phone the next day half of them was blank in my gallery anyone know what's up with that.
Have you actually mounted to a pc and looked on the SD? Are you stock or rom'd? Have you used any 3rd party file managers like Astro to check the contents of the card?

SD card is prolly on the fritz. Or your ROM has read write speeds to high. And if u want to be sure the data is really corrupt put the SD card into the comp with a SD reader if possible not pass thru the phone.

I've recently installed the official OTA HC Update on my BB 16G WiFi Flyer and noticed that the stock Music App (and any other Music App for that matter) doesn't find any of my music off of the MicroSD Card. Is anyone else having this issue and if so, has anyone found a fix?

Thanks. I did reboot and wait to no avail. In addition, I removed and re-inserted the card. I also copied my music files to the internal storage but still nothing. When the stock music app searches for files, I get a forced close message: "android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly".
I also found the the Gallary App doesn't see any photos stored on the card but when I take new photos with the camera, they do show up. This is strange. Maybe I will format the microSD card and copy the files over again via a USB connection to the Flyer.

I have tried reformating the card, rebooting and turning off fastboot. I am out of ideas. I think it is time to try a factory reset. If that doesn't work, I guess it is back to GB.
Did an install of a new Rom last night. Had this problem. Rebooted, still not working. Installed power amp. Could see my music with that app. About an hour later, my stock music found my music. Don't think this is a real fix but sharing my recent experience

Well, I am relatively sure the problem is with HTC's Wifi OTA HC Upgrade. I rolled back to GB and low-and-behold, my sd card music is there as are my photos and videos. I decided to try one more time and ran the OTA Update again...same story, Music and Gallery doesn't find any of my files.
So, one more time...back to GB and that is where I'll stay for now.
try installing a different player ... or leave ur music app running in backgroung for some time hope this might work.... if ur sd is class 4 or less it takes time to find music

PowerAmp does work but there is still the photo and video issue. I let the stock Music app run overnight and it still doesn't work. I also tried 3 different SD cards (class 4, 6 and 10)...no luck. Already back to GB where everything works as it should.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Sorry for the noob question, but the Flyer is my first Android device. Is a roll back only accomplished with a full on ROM flash and subsequent reinstall of apps, etc? Or are you somehow doing an in place roll back similar to the OTA in place upgrades?

Official HC on Flyer does't find music on SD Card
Hi,
Try to clear the cache of the Music App. and the Gallery. At least this worked for me, within no time all my files showed up again
Another option you might try is to use ES File Explorer or a similar program. Go to the folders where your pictures and the music are, and create into this folder a new one. Don't put any files in this folder! Just rename the created folder in .nomedia and reboot with fastbootmode ( in the energy settings) disabled.
I had similar problems once with an Archos 70 Internettablet, and this was the solution that worked for me.....

I really appreciate the last two suggestions. I just don't think I want to go through getting all my apps and data back if I need to roll back again. Maybe someone else that has gone through with the OTA update and has the same problem can try these out.
There is need to roll back or anything like that to use the last 2 options. Just create an empty folder, named .nomedia in the folders where the files are that don't show up in your mediaplayers. You can do this using ES File Explorer ( for free in the Market) or you can hook up your Flyer to your PC, and create the .nomedia files there. Then just reboot...
I just discovered that I can sync my Zune pass music onto my wife's Incredible 2.
I'm wondering if anyone's tried and be successful at making this work on the Rezound?
It seems to be tied to the USB settings options...
On the Incredible 2 there is the option to use "Media Sync"
This doesn't appear to be the same as the Media Sync on the Rezound.
Seems like there would be a way to make this work on the Rezound. Any ideas?

Media Sync was replaced by HTC sync. So this might not be possible. I think your only recourse is to manually pull the music over to the phone.

Manually pulling over doesn't work for the Zune Pass content due to DRM. On the Incredible 2, I can pull over everything including DRM Files. It's like it sees it as another Zune.
Wish they would open up Zune to all platforms.
Funny thing is, I can't even get Media Sync to work on my Rezound. It worked for about 20 minutes last night, then failed. And it didn't even work for media files, just contacts and calendar entries.
Are you talking about HTC Sync? I tried it out and it worked, somewhat. Took me a while to find where it put the synced stuff on my computer though. Turned out is was in my user folder > Documents > My Documents/My Photos. It never made a My Music folder in there but I made a Music folder on the ext sd card and tbh I never went into settings to try and make it sync that folder. I really don't like syncing anyway, I was just trying it out. I prefer to maintain my phone media manually.

I can't even get HTC Sync to work. But no, on her Incredible 2 there isn't an HTC Sync option...it's just called Media Sync. When I connect, it populates in Windows Media Player as a sync-able device, thus it's able to sync Zune Pass content. The main reason this is significant is because Zune Pass content is typically only available on Zune's or Windows Phone 7's with the Zune software.
Yeah, I was talking about on your Rezound. Oh well, I guess the DRM keeps you from using HTC Sync with it? I was thinking of going the Zune route but I don't like that DRM stuff, perhaps I'll pass on it. But I might pm you with a Zune question or two if I think about going for it.

Especially with my 64gb ext sd card!
Only problem is I can't navigate through the songs using my car stereo. I can with an *cough* ipod *cough*, but I only have a 2gb one that my friend gave me. And with Zune there's this whole music plan thing... I just have to check on my car's forum and see if you can navigate the Zune with my stock stereo. Whatever I use it would really just be a car player and I would just leave it in there all the time.
I plug the phone in and it opens the 'what do I want to do' screen and then closes it right away. And then just keeps doing this over and over every few seconds. Anyone else notice this?
I've had mixed results. Earlier today at work, on my Win7 machine, I plugged that bad boy up and it immediately found the phone and loaded the drivers. The phone then appeared in Windows Explorer as "EVO" and when clicked on, expanded to show the contents of the memory accessible to the user. There is about 10 gb free on my phone.
At home now, is a different story. I'm running XP Pro and can't seem to get the right drivers installed. I'm tinkering with it now but am not sure what to expect. I've also installed Airdroid, but haven't gotten around to trying it yet.
Update: Still no joy getting MTP to work, so I tried Airdroid and it works beautifully.
Try swapping the cable out. I've had similar results with a cable that would charge fine, but would give dodgy results when trying to use as a disk drive.

Used the cable that came with it instead of my regular Evo cable and it worked fine. Weird.

You should see a folder called sdcard. It's the name given to the 10 gigs or so available to us. If you have a physical sd card, I think it's call ext/sdcard or something like that. Anyway, there is a "ringtones" folder in the sdcard folder.
I think HTC stated that file mounting on the evo lte is different than the one x. If you wanna transfer files, im pretty sure you have to use HTC sync. If you have a memory card though, that should be able to mount as a removable device.
hope i helped
Hmmm. I see that in Astro but not when I plug it in

It's still a bug and should be reported. I plugged my 3D into the same cable on the same hub and it was able to dump the whole SD card over that connection, so there's something wrong with the E4GLTE if it can't handle the same setup.
I have a 32gb card and mounted as a disk drive just fine. HTC sync is for internal storage maybe?

It put it as /sdcard2 in my brothers phone
depending on how you're looking at it, it will either be listed as /sdcard2/ or as ext-sdcard
they both mean the same thing. the /sdcard/ by itself is internal.
any ringtones you want to put in need to be in a /ringtones/ folder, doesn't matter whether you make it in the internal or external available space
same thing goes for /alarms/ and /notifications/

You can put them on your sd card no problem. I transfered all my music over to my 32GB card on my computer last night and all was fine. Hooked up my 3D and also my LTE and just dragged the folders/files in windows explorer across the two drives fine...
Then to assign the ringtone that's on the extra sdcard(the one I put music on and didn't come with the device), all you have to do is when presented ringtone options click add and you should see the list of songs in there u added.....
Actually now I think of it, I went into HTC music player and got it to see the music before I did that too...
Also had google music sync up and download everything for offline use too but I don't think they showed up after I did that personally....though I could b wrong and its actually pulling the ringtone from my google music copy...

I see what you mean. I didn't see the 'Add' button at first. However that just seems to list ALL music on the device which is a bit of a pain due to the amount of music on my card. I ended up moving the ringtones to my SD card then just Astro to move them over to the internal storage. Not the quickest method, but seems to be better for keeping everything organized.

It's really dumb, but don't pick one of the two big choices at the top. Pick "Media Sync" in the smaller text options below those. As long as your pc is up to date, you should see "Evo" show up under my computer.
